![]() Round 1 Elbennon will fling his shuriken at the spider's weak points. Use a Ki point to activate Flurry of Stars, then attack with Rapid Shot. 5' step if it will put me within 30' of the monster. Attack 1 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 (+1 more within 30')
Attack 2 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 (+1 more within 30')
Attack 3 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 (+1 more within 30')
Attack 4 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 (+1 more within 30')

![]() I swear I made a post earlier but I guess it disappeared. I still think we should claim to be Forlorn adventurers who heard about the problem with the drow and came to help out. It would explain our weirdness and lack of knowledge about elven things. I don't have disguise trained. ![]()
![]() "If the monsters are unintelligent we can lure a particularly dangerous one, or a bunch of less dangerous ones to where some elves are garrisoned. Wait for the elves to be having a tough time of it, and then swoop in to rescue them. We still don't have a story, yes? Perhaps we are Forlorn adventurers who heard about the effort in the homeland to retake Celwynvian and made our way here to help? Although your eidolon is rather...drowish...Brang'el. Hopefully they won't see through that." Elbennon suggests. ![]()
![]() "I like the idea of using the other monsters in the city to gain the elves' trust. We would still need a backstory to tell them, at least enough of one to get us into their camp. Then when night comes we kill the leadership and disappear. If we can then organize the remaining monsters into a single force, we could pit them against the remaining elves, and then mop up what's left." Elbennon interjects. ![]()
![]() "What is your name sir?" Elbennon asks the drow giving orders. "Is this city fully occupied by elves going about their day to day lives, or is this a ruined place with a military garrison? How many are here?" Elbennon asks, going over to flip open the poisons case and pulling out a couple vials. He looks to the other three "If no one objects?" Take two drow poison and a deathblade. ![]()
![]() Fortitude Save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 vs DC 19
Elbennon sways on his feet for a moment as the his body fights off the last off the poison. His skin looks pale and grey, compared to it's previous more purple color. "Who do we have to thank for the assistance?" he asks the shape shifting drow, as he wipes the drake blood from his katana and resheates it. ![]()
![]() Alright, now I feel dumb. I completely forgot about blindsight. Sorry for freaking out a bit, it's just that the poison alone could kill me pretty easily, not to mention another full attack. Also, I didn't intend to be the first one in/put myself in the front but without a map or initiative are we just going with whoever posts first moves first? In that case I will probably wait to post until after the others act in the future. ![]()
![]() Well, either someone cast a spell on it that let it see me, or it's using scent in which case it needs a move action to note my direction and still has a 50% miss chance, or it's using tremorsense which still gives me a 50% miss chance. Also either scent or tremorsense would allow me to still get off sneak attack which is the main issue. I don't have a problem with things seeing me when it makes sense. It just once again feels like you're punishing us instead of letting us be heroes, and the rules are getting trampled along the way. Yasean made his perception check, and even if his actions alterted it that it'd been spotted he should have gotten to act in the surprise round. Instead only it did, and it attacked him (since we've apparently thrown initiative out the window it's unclear whether he would have gotten to act before the breath weapon stunned him). So he was essentially punished for making the check. Or at best, had the same exact result as if he had failed it. Then I go invisible and move towards it, and it sees me without making any effort, at the same time it moves and full attacks (which even with pounce is a full round action). If it has buff spells, it would be instantly apparent to all of us (due to having constant detect magic). Since you didn't mention anything like that, I have to assume it's using scent or tremorsense in which case you are ignoring the rules again. I mean, what's done is done, I'm not trying to stop the game flow. I just don't understand is all. Can you explain what I'm missing please? ![]()
![]() Is everything inexplicably gonna have detect invisibility at all times? Because if so I might as well leave the game right now. Fortitude Save 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
HP:34/44 (Normal max HP 54)
How the hell can it see me?! Elbennon draws his katana and flanking with Brang'el, attempts to stab it, becoming visible again as he swings. Attack 1 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Damage 1 1d8 + 2 + 3d6 ⇒ (8) + 2 + (3, 2, 4) = 19
Edit: PS, I definitely did move Brang'El. So you may or may not be within a 5' step of me. No idea without a map. Also, since we have detect magic as a constant ability, does it have any spells cast on it right now (the drake)? ![]()
![]() Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19 Elbennon was caught unawares by the attack, his thoughts on the coming challenges of the surface rather than here and now. He snaps back to reality and instantly disappears. Swift action to use Vanishing Trick (1 Ki Point) Attempt a fast dismount 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 Failure, by one! So move action to dismount Move action to move 30' closer to the creature, my goal is to end up 20' from it if possible. ![]()
![]() Elbennon will approach a riding gecko that stands out to him. It's scales are a dingy turquoise color, with a pattern of orange spots. He stands in front of the creature staring at it for a moment, before offering his hand for it to scent. Then he gives the lizard a few strokes behind its tympanic membrane, and climbs into the saddle. He is smiling and looks to be excited. How much better than the fighting school is this? To engage in battle with our hated foe, and to see the surface finally. I've never been to the surface before. Yay! Suddenly he realizes what his facial expression might be and it instantly returns to staid placidity. ![]()
![]() Elbennon packs all his gear and leaves the fighting school hours early to report for his first assignment for the Wovril. He makes his way to the base described in the letter, and approaches the guards at the gate about half an hour earlier than he was told to arrive. "Greetings cousins, my name is Elbennon Morosi. I was told to report here for duty. Here I am." Elbennon is tall for a dark elf, about six feet by human reckoning. He wears a black leather cuirass with armored kilt, and an ornate buckler strapped to his left forearm. His cloak is cut to waist length so as not to get in the way of quick movements, and there is a katana at his belt. Over his armor are two crossed bandoleers with shuriken in them. ![]()
![]() Yeah, that's fine. I want him to be born of a noble house, but have no connection with it. Gives you the option of a darth vader moment later or something if you want it. As far as Elbennon knows he was born to drow servant of house Dolour, and they got rid of him as soon as they could. He doesn't know that he's related to his sponsor in any way, and has no loyalty to the great houses, Dolour or otherwise. ![]()
![]() I just liked the idea of him not knowing who his parents were at all. I picked that house because I want to be born of one of the great houses, and the fluff text said she kept having sons. How about something like:
Elbennon spent years in the fighting society learning to outwit and outlive the other boys. He became a devious fighter, skilled in treachery and expert with the shuriken. It was not until his fourth decade of life that he had earned enough respect for his mother's cousin to sponsor him to join the Wovril. Recent circumstances had created a need, and he had kept her waiting long enough.
Is that better? ![]()
![]() Well, they are socially subordinate. But they are not slaves. I read both the chapters about Drow and Zirnakaynan in Armegeddon Echo and Endless Night. It said that drow sometimes willingly enter the service of other houses but as servants not slaves. It mentioned that some high ranking females see little difference between servants and slaves though. Would the story be more acceptable if it happened when he was like 6 years old? He survived by being quiet and using his SLAs. Then he tried to hide from the Wovril using his deeper darkness and they realized he was a noble born kid with a lot of potential. Just scrap the bit about the surface elf slave. Page 56 of Armageddon Echo wrote:

![]() Background/Personality:
Born the seventh son of Matron Zoveinia of House Misraria, Elbennon was yet another dissapointment. Zoveinia had been desperately hoping for a female heir, and to birth another son sent her into a fury. She decided to appeal to Nocticula, her house's patron demon by sacrificing the babe. She had a trusted servant carry Elbennon into the dark wilds of Sekhima and abandon him there. He survived there for several days before he was found by a party of Wovirl returning to Zirnakaynan from a slave raid. The party's commander, impressed by the strength of such a babe and unwilling to just let a fellow drow die, carried Elbennon back to their base. A female surface elf who had just given birth before she was taken became his wetnurse. For the next four decades he was raised by the Wovirl, they were mother and father to him. He learned the ways of combat and treachery and that the only way to survive was to be stronger than the others. He serves Nathmir the Sage fanatically, and sees him as the father that he never otherwise had. Elbennon knows he has noble blood, but is unaware of which house. He despises the noble houses for their decadence and infighting, so unlike the structured and disciplined Wovril. Is that acceptable? ![]()
![]() I'm here. Sorry, I'm on the opposite side of the world from most of you I suspect so you're often most active while I'm sleeping. Can you just give me a third trait please DM? I'm really unsure what to take since I already have one combat and one social. Also, before I write a background is there some basic campaign info we can see? I like to tailor my character's background to the game.
