IT LIVES!

Yes, this blog is still around. Arguably, it's more around than it has been for some time. However, there is a new look and a new location. Mike is still making monsters and I am still rambling about things. Most recently, Osiris' privates.

Hi everyone,

Umberto Eco passed away :-(

I read that earlier. Very sad. I loved In the Neme of the Rose and Focault's Pendulum. I have an unread copy of Baudilino somewhere. I'm going to have to find it.

Rose and Pendulum are his best by far, some of his last books I could not get trough. Baudolino was a great for me because it features the founder of my hometown: Emporer Friedrich the I. from House Hohenstaufen nicknamed "Barbarossa"

I have heard "The Name of the Rose" is not very popular in America, here in Germany it is considered one of the best movies of all time

I wasn't very popular here, no, but there are some in America who agree with your opinion. I absolutely loved it.

I loved the book and the movie. FP was a disappointment for me. I really enjoy his essays and shorter writings. I have his two big medieval books and his history of aesthetics and they're interesting. I have some other of his novels, but haven't tackled them yet.

A few chapters in and so far I'm loving it! Everything I've come to love about Radovan and Jeggare, but in Varisia. VARISIA!

Mike Welham has been doing all the heavy lifting while I was MIA for months at time, but now I'm trying to be [almost] regularly blogging again. So, here is the latest from MPR: The Classical Elements and World-Building.

Ah, I remember what happened here. A casualty to the learning curve for PFS.
