This coming fortnight we have an oldie and a newie for play at Brisbane Good Game, kicking off at 6pm at Brisbane Good Game!
On Wednesday the 29th August, we'll be seeing the Season 4 opener…
#4–01: Rise of the Goblin Guild.
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.
When a monster is discovered on the grounds of the Pathfinder Lodge at Heidmarch Manor in Magnimar, an investigation into its appearance leads the PCs deep under the City of Monuments—and face to face with a burgeoning thieves’ guild.
And this Season 1 blast from the past…
#55: The Infernal Vault
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1-7.
A decade ago, the Decklands family, a house of Chelish nobles, were exiled from Absalom for treason. Their fate made for an interesting story and when a Pathfinder agent in Cheliax studying the family's long history and exile from the City at the Centre of the World ends up murdered, the Society sends you to the recently discovered Deckland Vaults in Absalom to see what connection their old home might have to your murdered colleague.
We're looking to run the Goblin Guilds the following fortnight also, so feel free to play The Infernal Vault this week and catch Rise of the Goblin Guild next go around. We're looking at running a lot more lower and middle tier scenarios - levels 1 to 5 - in the next few months, to let people catch up on some of the excellent back catalogue of available adventures.

#1: Silent Tide.
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st to 5th level characters.
When strange reports of misty undead spread through Absalom, you and your fellow Pathfinders are dispatched to the half-drowned district of Puddles. Notoriously rough, the drooling addicts, flesh panderers, and quick-handed knifers of Puddles are the least of your worries. The night's tide brings with it an ancient armada of some long-forgotten war and you are the only thing between their mist-shrouded ghost fleet and Absalom's utter oblivion.
and the long one...
Cult of the Ebon Destroyers
A malignant cult has taken root in the mystical and magical realm of Jalmeray. Known and feared throughout distant Vudra, the cult of Dhalavei has expertly destroyed organizations and societies from within for millennia. Now a new sect of the sinister Cult of the Ebon Destroyers has its sights set on Thakur Kharswan of Jalmeray, and the magistrates and bureaucrats behind the throne must hunt down and eliminate the cult before the unthinkable happens. If only there were someone they could trust to behead Dhalavei's cult before the assassins do the same to their beloved ruler…

The future of the Pathfinder Society's viability in the region lies in the PCs' hands.
"Pagoda of the Rat" is the second and final scenario in the two-part The Rats of Round Mountain campaign arc. The story begins in Pathfinder Society Scenario #3–20: The Rats of Round Mountain—Part I: The Sundered Path. Running behind the eightball this fortnight (again!), so without further ceremony, here is the sessions for this Wednesday night's gaming pleasure!
#3-20: The Rats of Round Mountain—Part I: The Sundered Path (Levels 7–11)
In an effort to prevent an alliance between the Aspis Consortium and a contingent of ratfolk with incredible regional influence, the Pathfinder Society sends its best agents deep into a Darklands passage to the heart of Round Mountain, where the ratfolk hold court. But as is often the case for Pathfinders, the journey is an adventure unto itself, potentially deadly enough to prevent the PCs from reaching their destination at all.
"The Sundered Path" is the first scenario in the two-part The Rats of Round Mountain campaign arc. The story concludes in Pathfinder Society Scenario #3–22: The Rats of Round Mountain—Part II: Pagoda of the Rat. Both chapters are intended to be played in order and consecutively; PCs who do will receive a special reward at the arc's conclusion.

Pregens will be avaialable if people are missing a character in the approporiate level range and all players will be accomodated for.

This Sunday we will be continuing our fortnightly Sunday sessions with...
#3-19: The Icebound Outpost
The Pathfinder Society discovers an Aspis Consortium base in an ancient Vudran temple now encased in a glacier and sends the PCs to infiltrate it and investigate the extent of the rival organization's regional operations. Can the PCs get in the well-guarded Aspis outpost and escape with their lives and the information the Society seeks?
Due to popular demand, we will be running a second table this Sunday...
#17: Perils of the Pirate Pact (Levels 1-7)
When the Black Marquis lost all of the men he could trust on a failed treasure hunt, he did the only thing he could: turned to the Pathfinder Society for help. Offering an ancient lost text in return for assistance, the Black Marquis of Deadbridge sends you deep into the spider-haunted Echo Wood of the River Kingdoms to track down his missing pirates and recover an ancient treasure for the Society. You'll face brigands, pirates, spiders and more—but will you survive the perils of the Pirate Pact?
Head to the Warhorn Site and sign up if you're interested. There were some issues with parking last time around in South Brisbane, so the Sunday game will be held at Ace Comics & Games, Annerley; follow the link for location details. We will be kicking off at 12pm and going through till finished.
We're running early this fortnight; better than late I guess. Here are the listings for sessions at Good Games Brisbane on 9th May, 6pm.
#52: The City of Strangers—Part II: The Twofold Demise (Tiers: 1–2, 3–4, and 6–7).
A powerful local gang in Kaer Maga demands that you end the threat of the Shadow Lodge at once as the Lodge's very existence upsets the delicate local balance of power. Refusal means both the expulsion of the Pathfinder Society from Kaer Maga forever and your untimely deaths. The choice is yours.
The Twofold Demise is the second and final scenario in the The City of Strangers campaign arc and is the sequel to Pathfinder Society Scenario #51: The City of Strangers—Part I: The Shadow Gambit.
and
#6: Black Waters (Tiers: 1–2, 4-5).
The Pathfinder Society seeks the ancient ruby ring of the salamander and it falls to a team of Pathfinders to find it. Last seen in the Tri-Towers Yard, a once elite academy for the youth of Absalom, the ruby ring is now lost in the Drownyard, all that remains of Tri-Towers after it was destroyed a decade ago in the great quake. The Pathfinders must risk the strange black ichors and salty brine to find their prize—will they risk their very souls as well?

Hi All!
We're kicking off Sunday sessions of Pathfinder Society @ Brisbane this week with a running of the newest Season 3 scenario The Gods Market Gamble at The Edge, State Library of Queensland.
#3-18: The God's Market Gamble
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.
Valuable relics of religious natures have been disappearing on their way into Absalom and the Pathfinder Society stands to lose countless irreplaceable artifacts if the cause isn't found. Amid the bustling markets of the God's Market in the shadow of the Starstone Cathedral, the Society sets a plan in motion to ensure the parties responsible for the recent thefts are caught and brought to justice.
In Brisbane we are trialing the use of the Warhorn site to manage the registration of players for regular play. If you're up for gaming this Sunday, head to the Warhorn site, click on the session listed for April 29th and follow the prompts.
If that all proves to hard, email me and let us know you're interested in playing; we'll get you registered the hard way. Email address is pathfinder_society_brisbane@creakingchair.com.
First NB: There will only be one table this Sunday; we're seeing how it goes. Please check back here Sunday morning to check whether we have minimum numbers to run a session or whether the event has been canceled due to lack of interest.
If there are any issues finding The Edge (ie. getting lost), please give me a call on 0466 696 480.
Yep, we're running late this fortnight again; the cold and flu have beaten people round the head. As this week is ANZAC Day public holiday, the suggestion is to kick it off at 5pm rather than 6pm so people can get home earlier. If people have a huge issue with this, please let us know.
#51: The City of Strangers—Part I: The Shadow Gambit (Tiers: 1–2, 3–4, and 6–7).
The Pathfinder Society sends you to Kaer Maga, the City of Strangers, where you are ordered to find a local Pathfinder associate who sent a strange letter to Venture-Captain Drandle Dreng in Absalom. When the local associate turns up dead and you find evidence linking his death to a mysterious organization called The Shadow Lodge, it's up to you to track them down and solve the man's murder.
The Shadow Gambit is the first scenario in the two-part The City of Strangers campaign arc. Pathfinder Society Scenario #52: The City of Strangers—Part II: The Twofold Demise is the sequel.
and
#24: Decline of Glory (Tiers: 1–2, 3–4, and 6–7).
When the son of a famous Pathfinder gains control of his father's holdings in Taldor, the Pathfinder Society decides to build a new lodge there as a base to explore the many ruins of that crumbling empire. Unfortunately, the Taldan Phalanx has its eye on the holdings and an ancient curse has turned many of the residents into the walking dead. Can you survive the tangled web of Taldor's politics and fight off the echoes of the past or will you, too, see your glory decline?
As always, if people could email and let us know what scenario's they are interested in playing, that would be awesome. Email me at pathfinder_society_brisbane@creakingchair.com.
First NB: On the note of Sundays, there will be sessions running Sunday 29th April between 12pm and 6pm. It was going to be today but illness has gotten in the way. Information coming to you all about these sessions Tuesday afternoon, along with times and venue details.
Second NB: Taking a note out of the Shadow Lodge Pathfinder Society in Sydney, we'll be giving the Warhorn site a go for managing sessions and organised play. That should be up and running sometime this week; just waiting on the organisers to set up a site for us.
c873788 wrote: Will sessions be running at Good Games on the evening of 25/04? Sorry for the late notice for this weeks sessions; Easter and work got in the way. Here are the sessions for this Wednesday (11th April) night, where we are going old school with a trip to the Blackros Museum and a night at the Oppara opera.
Pathfinder Society Scenario #5: Mists of Mwangi (Tiers: 1–2, 4–5).
Pathfinder Lugizar Trantos recently returned from the Mwangi Expanse with haunted eyes and a pack full of strange idols. Absalom's famed Blakros Museum purchased his pieces and Lugizar vanished. The strange monkey idols he pulled from the misty jungles of Mwangi carry with them a fell curse, and now their power has laid claim to the museum. Can the Pathfinder Society uncover the source of the curse in time, or will the Blackros Museum be forever lost to the mists of Mwangi?
and...
Pathfinder Society Scenario #7: Among the Living (Tiers: 1–2, 3–4, 6–7).
Famed Pathfinder Bodriggan Wuthers disappeared from his dig site beneath the House of the Immortal Son in Taldor's gilded capital of Oppara. Once a grand temple to Aroden, the Immortal Son is now Oppara's most opulent theater. Sent to locate Wuthers, the Pathfinders must attend an opera with members of the Oppara elite in order to gain access to the secretive theater's dig site. When a cult crashes the performance and the nobility change into hideous walking dead, the Pathfinders are forced to choose between finding Wuthers or saving themselves.
If people could email and let us know what scenario's they are interested in playing, that would be awesome. Email me at pathfinder_society_brisbane@creakingchair.com.
NB: As a heads up, hopefully we'll be kicking off the weekend games either this Sunday or the following, starting with the just released Season 3 scenario The God's Market Gamble.

Oh well.... hopefully it's not too late to join in! One of the benefits of having four years of campaign scenarios to catch up on, is you'll never be stuck for something to play, because every scenario is new for you! We love people here in Brisbane with four years worth of catching up to do; it makes the selection of adventures to offers so much easier!
Look forward to seeing you at a game soon!
Pathfinder Society @ Brisbane Good Games (28th March 2012)
The proposed scenarios are as follows for the next fortnights gaming...
Pathfinder Society Scenario #3-16: The Midnight Mauler (levels 3–7).
The Decemvirate sends members of the Pathfinder Society to the former crown jewel of Ustalav's royal courts, the decaying city of Ardis. Tasked by the Society to look into the fate of Absalom's former Master of Blades, Vonran Vilk, what they find will lead to exploration, diplomacy, murder, haunted pasts, and tragic love. Can the PCs stop the rampage of the Midnight Mauler before he kills again?
"The Midnight Mauler" was originally an exclusive adventure, run only by 4-star Pathfinder Society GMs, Venture-Captain and Venture-Lieutenant campaign volunteers, and Paizo staff for its first year, but has been revised and updated for public release
and...
Pathfinder Society Scenario #3-05: Tide of Twilight (Tiers: 1–2 and 4–5).
In researching a recently recovered druidic lorestone, the Pathfinder Society learns of a powerful artifact with the power to turn men into bestial abominations. Amid claims of increased werewolf activity in the region, the PCs travel into the heart of the Verduran Forest to retrieve the valuable relic from a cabal of evil druids believed to currently hold it.
As both of these scenarios are season 3, it would be great to kick them off at as close to 6pm as possible.

Great to see you last night! Hope that the stormborn sorcerer is living up to expectiations.
Hi Lael,
I feel the Southside pain; I am out Runcorn way. That said, if you can make it, we would love you playing with us.
We have a fortnightly Wednesday game running at the moment over at Good Games in Springhill from 6pm. We're playing at Good Games as they're open late (till @ 11pm) weeknights. We have one or two tables a fortnight playing
The primary challenge we're finding with starting much later than 6:30pm is the creep of hours. Season 3 adventures run 4.5 to 5 hours long, which would leave them running till past midnight on a bad day, which a lot people can't do.
We will be kicking off a fortnightly Sunday afternoon game around the State Library of Queensland in March (exact start date coming soon). I am also in the planning for PFS play at Auscon III this May.
The Next Wednesday night we're playing is the 29th of February. The adventures are Before the Dawn—Part I: The Bloodcove Disguise and Tide of Morning.
Feel free to email me at if there is any details you want to know or to be added to the mailing list that we have going.
Cheers,
Daniel

We're back with the second night of Pathfinder Society goodness at Good Games Brisbane Wednesday 1st February between 6pm and 11pm.
The scenarios on offer on the 1st are...
Pathfinder Society Scenario #8: Slave Pits of Absalom (Tiers: 1–2, 4–5)
Someone kidnapped Lady Anilah Salhar—the Chelish wife of Dremdhet Salhar, one of Osirion's many Grand Ambassadors to Absalom—and sold her into slavery. With Salhar holding delve permits over the heads of the Decemvirute, the Pathfinders are sent to assist the Osirian Ambassador. Venturing into Absalom's darkest corners to save Lady Anilah, the Pathfinders must face the secrets of the Slave Pits to avoid becoming slaves themselves.
and...
We Be Goblins! Sanctioned Pathfinder Module
The Licktoad goblins of Brinestump Marsh have stumbled upon a great treasure—fireworks! Yet unfortunately for them, the tribe member responsible for the discovery has already been exiled for the abhorrent crime of writing (which every goblin knows steals words from your head). To remedy this situation, the Licktoads’ leader, His Mighty Girthness Chief Rendwattle Gutwad, has declared that the greatest heroes of the tribe must venture forth to retrieve the rest of the fireworks from a derelict ship stranded in the marsh.
If you have any questions or want to make a suggestion, email pathfinder_society_brisbane@creakingchair.com.
We're kicking off Pathfinder Society play in Brisbane for 2012 and you're invited. We're hoping to play fortnightly, starting with Wednesday 18th January 2012 between 6pm and 11pm.
There will be running two tables on the first night. If either session runs short, and people are interested, there are a bunch of Beginner Box Bash scenarios that are well worth playing.
If you can't make the 18th, never fear; this will be the first of many opportunties for Pathfinder Society play around Brisbane this year. We're starting fortnightly on a Wednesday at Good Games and spreading out from there.
The scearios on offer on the 18th are...
Scenario #39: The Citadel of Flame (Tier 1–2 and 4–5)
Once the home to a cult preaching self-sacrifice by immolation in order to achieve paradise, the Citadel of Flame in Qadira's Meraz Desert was presumably wiped out decades ago after Sarenrae dervishes led a crusade to end its morbid message. An enormous sandstorm swallowed both the citadel and the army attacking it, burying both beneath hundreds of feet of sand. Thought lost forever, the citadel's rediscovery prompts the Pathfinder Society to send you deep in the unforgiving Meraz to finally close the book on Qadira's most mysterious cult.
and...
Scenario #2-11: The Penumbral Accords (Tier 1-2 and 4-5)
The daughters of Absalom's mysterious Blakros family have long been among the most pursued maidens in the Inner Sea. Now the family's matriarch approaches the Pathfinder Society to help her break a centuries-old pact with the denizens of the Plane of Shadow to save her twin daughters from a life of servitude at the hands of the Onyx Alliance. Heading into the fan-favorite adventuring location of Blakros Museum, the PCs have only a short amount of time to break the Penumbral Accords and solidify the Pathfinder Society's ties to the powerful Blakroses.
If you're on Facebook, it would be awesome if you could click through and add yourself as coming to the event, so we can track numbers and let you know if anything changes.
Hey
I was hoping to get some gaming moving in Brisbane before Christmas, but my plate got stupidly full with some work related LARP Zombie Apocalypse action at the State Library which wound up over the weekend.
Now that this is over, with the New Year looming, things are looking brighter and less busy. I will be pulling together an event sometime in January for Pathfinder Society play. For the first go around, I will be pushing for a Saturday or Sunday, several tables over an afternoon and early evening. Expect a date coming this week after I find out where is available and friendly to our needs. It will most likely be central Brisbane or there about for the sake of ease.
There will definitely be action at Auscon III; we're sorting out the scheduling details at present; we run five hours long and the Auscon sessions run three; which makes for some interesting arrangements we are hoping to resolve over the coming month. Hoping to have a few tables running if there is the interested and support the hell out of Brisbane's biannual gaming event.
Rest assured, as soon as that information is available, the whole of the Brisbane Pathfinder community will be well informed.
Cheers,
Daniel Flood
(AKA. Robor)
Hi,
Have been away from keyboard. Sorry.
Glad to see there is interest! I will follow up with both Ace Comics and Fast Break in the coming days and organise times. As Ace Comics is Central to North and South, will try and arrange the first meet up there.
In an effort to get ready, are there any PFS adventures people are itching to play and any I should avoid preparing to GM?
Hey!
That makes four people. Please one more person!
Three option for venue seem to be Fast Break (Nundah), Ace Comics (City) or the Edge (State Library, South Bank).
Kalrann's suggesting fortnightly on a Friday night; how does that work with Bacchreus and c873788?
If it is outside of work hours, I am pretty much available and happy to travel. Will follow up on venues over the week and get things rolling.
Cheers,
Dan

To keep the North and South sides happy, am suggesting somewhere in Brisbane. Can either follow up with Ace Comics as Mandreth suggested or there are a couple of other places around that would be suitable.
I am happy to GM. Four people is enough to play. Twenty will require some organising.
Address is dice_munkey(at)hotmail(dot)com

There are mentions on the SRD page about an affordable PDF - affordable in the way the PDF of the core rulebook was affordable at $10 - of the Bestiary. Is there any news about this?

Military Simulations Melbourne has had all Pathfinder books in stock and still have all six on shelf. Problem is each book arrives about two months after the US release and the store didn't know what I was talking about when ordering book one. They are pretty good with ongoing orders though.
Mind Games Melbourne is better, with books in stock usually two weeks before Military Simulations and have the books in stock presently but provide garbage service and ordinary ordering.
Supporting my FLGS has never been this difficult before.
Then again, being Australian means having a crap time getting any RPG that wasn't WotC or White Wolf distributed, so why would Pathfinder - best thing in RPG publication today all be it - and Paizo publications in general be any different?
Not Paizo's fault but it still sucks.

Builds on the APs from Dungeon and then some. Bought Dungeon the past three years and Dragon for two for the AP and Pathfinder feeds that need perfectly. Outside a couple of Malhavoc book I don't think I've seen better material available for D20. Great concepts, evocative text and well handled art work. Plus the more mature, 'realistic' tone to the material is a real nice change. I don't mind the font size if the content is worth it, which it is and then some. I haven't been this satisfied with a campaign product since Ptolus, or as inspired to game. Congrats to the Paizo team; Pathfinder rocks! If you haven't purchased the book yet, do it, you won't regret it for a minute.

not to mention the pulling of the raveloft license last year from White wolf

Not big poster on forum environments, but here's my thoughts.
This is horse s*%t!
Every month for the past few years I have trundled down the local hobby retailer and purchased my Dungeon & Dragons magazines. I have to admit it was the adventure path that got my loyalty and the rest gravy.
Now I'll be doing the same for Pathfinder.
Nice to see how Wizards deals with competition.
Maybe when they rise to the occasion and release regular source material of Dungeon & Dragon magazine quality, I'll put in a standing order.
Until then, make mine Pathfinder please.
Good luck Eric & Co.

Might have said it was a 4 player arrangement but reality, it never was, regular TPK situations. Dungeon got better with the second and third AP when it came to game balance. Not bashing the hardcover, own all the magazines and still think that it is the best value D&D adventure book on the market today. Yes, it still has the crap stat blocks, but it saves lugging all the magazines and look damn pretty to boot.

Castle Zagyg is a great book if old school Gygax is what you after. Problem is a year later we're still waiting for book 2!
I hope it's Greyhawk, or Castle Greyhawk... come to think of it, since it was primarily Eric's run on Dungeon and Dragon magazine that got me buying again, I'll be getting whatever it is the day it comes out.

Overseas supporter of his local store here; why the hell can't these things be released through retail outlets?
I get the thing it was a Gencon special, and I can order through the online store, which will cost more in postage than it will to purchase, then take three weeks to get here if I'm lucky, but it being available when I purchase the issue of Dungeon it corresponds with would have been great.
After buying into Ptolus and seeing how useful the Players Guides for that campaign is, I think the STPG is an awesome idea. Thanks for what I am sure will be an awesome product when it is ready for download, just wish it was easier to get in print form.

Malhavoc Press released Cry Havoc for 3rd Ed, written by the master of all things that are made of steel and make the enemy scream then bleed, Mike Mearls (I like his work ;P}, which covers mass combat realy well and is worth the PDF asking price. Haven't had a chance to read Heroes of Battle or the Miniature's Handbook yet, but from a glance they'd cover the same sort of mess.

I can't help but agree with the Monte Cook arguement. It makes sense and the articles are well worth reading.
Further, D&D might have had a ten year life cycle in regards editions, but this is unusual for the gaming idustry, where three to five year life cycles of editions are standard and in some cases with radical redesigns.
As a lot of posters above pointed out, WOTC is a business and we are the consumer. Push come to shove, they have market research and faith in the fact we're going to buy it, even if we buy it eventually. It's up to us to validate thier business decisions or not to.

Against the Giants II came with the original and built on them. It's a good, cheap way of getting the original and expanding upon. Same goes for the Return to the Tomb of Horrors, a logical progression on the first. Best of all for my dollar was the return to White Plume Mountain; same place just a hell of a lot weirder.
Most of these are best played after the original, with different characters. Give the whole thing an epic, multi generational feel.
Mostly the difference I found was the emphasis on a story that wasn't as evident in the originals. If you like your dungeon bash, go original. Like something more, get the returns because as I said above, for the most part you get the original and occassionally someone has already done the translating to third ed and posted it on the internet!

Access to a PDF copy of the issue from the Piazo site?

Can see what the overload was dropped from the magazine; you'd have lost a third of the magazine's page count to extra AoW material, which then would have had half the readership up in arms that you were giving to much preference to AoW material and not enough to other adventures. ALternatively you could have pushed 3FoE back and replaced it with the Overload which would have aggravated the rest of the readers.
And thanks for the outline, that is going to help my game a heap. Only just started Shackled City, having waited for the whole story first. Probably about to buy the hardcover for the equivilant material that the Overload posted free.
Yep. Damned if you do and damned if you don't but then again, you can't satisfy all of the people all of the time. Not meaning to sound condescending but keep up the great work.

Not a subscriber because it's not economically viable and I support my local store who gets it before Australain subscribers (often a week or so earlier). How being a subscriber makes it easier to justify making demands of people, I'm not sure, you pay for a magazine that you recieved. It doesn't change the fact that the Overload is material that Paizo could have made us pay for or decided not to release until a theoretical, stand alone publication sometime in 2007. It is for free by virtue of it being a freely available download at no cost.
Me? I'm hanging with anticipation, willing to wait and tired of reading attacks based in the fact it's not here yet. Unlike other role playing providers who can be months over expected release/shipping dates (WoC, White Wolf, Troll Lord Games... the list can go on), let alone MMORPG creators (pricipally Blizzard) who can be years over time; Paizo is a week or so over a proposed date. Most likely the staff are working over time already creating a product I happily put money down for every month.
It's not an easy task, putting together a commercial PDF release; ask any graphic designer or publisher that has done it. It's not as simple as spending an hour patching copy and layout to meet the expected level of quality that will satisfy the very discerning readers of Dungeon and Dragon magazines. Most likely the staff would have then been berated in this instance, becuase the PDF looked rushed and that they shoudl have taken more time to get it right rather than putting out a half baked, free additional support material package.
I guess there'd be no pleasing some people.

On the Final Dungeon point, wasn't there an article come issues ago (can't recall whether it was Dungeon or Dragon), around building five room, self contained dungeons? Dungeon could issue a challenge to readers to submit five room, one page dungeons over the email, a bit lie Critical Threats, giving prospective writers a small format adventure to break their teeth on before the big game. Maybe a small prize (free copy of X product of the month) could be offered as an incentive?

If you don't have dooms day cults and threats to world saftey, what the heck you you do with the near epic level characters?

All the luxury of 3E with none of the difficult mechanics to fumble around with. It will even be a better game with the revised edition where all the typos and grammar have been corrected. Even better, the MM and DMG are directly portable with a little work and the price is VERY nice. It is great to see a OGL that is actually a step away from 3E.
