Damhán is fully in agreement with Ayo's assessment of the situation. He too spends his time trying to spot a more viable culprit, trying to confine his search to areas where Ayo is not already on the lookout.
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Damhán only shakes his head, as everyone starts coming up with complicated distraction plans. The more interactions they force, the better chance they are uncovered. Going at night, when she wouldn't be there normally seemed a better idea... but apparently not a popular one. In the end, he just shrugs, and lets them do their thing.
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
"We could always go look." Damhán suggests. "But she'd have to not be there... and the likelihood anything we found would be anything anyone here would care about seems unlikely." He scowls slightly. "These types tend to stand behind each other, more often for bad than good."
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Damhán frowns, as the others start to bully the soldier. How quickly they all start acting like the worst of 'em He thinks to himself, staying out of it entirely. He is not surprised to learn about the poison, or that the Captain instigated it... though did wonder why she was targeting the Pathfinders specifically. When Ayo, turns to address him, he merely snorts. "My concerns were not about the Captain." He says. "There are Captains like her at all such places. My derision is for the institution and all like it. This is not the first such I have been subjected to..." He almost starts to say more, then scowls and goes quiet again, clearly not one to talk about his past experiences on a whim. "So where'd this stuff come from?" He asks, glancing at the substance still on the blade. "This standard Ungrounded issue? Or does Othis have her own personal stash?"
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Just so I can say I at least tried...
Wasn't sure if someone was waiting on me! But really, all of us have tried at this point... with not a great deal of success =)
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Hey now, non-lethal comes back at per hour rate... those guys wouldn't be getting up quite that quick =) Damhán finds nothing on the weapons of those laying in the dirt... but then realizes they all hit someone with them. He glances over towards the one named Dell, then notices his blade is not quite so clear as the others. "You." He growls, pointing at Dell. "What exactly is that on your blade." "Your cohorts seem to have all been brushed off, but your blade still seems coated in something. Did you poison our comrade?" He glances down at Ebonfeather, as the tengu starts to come around.
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Damhán goes over to examine the weapons of those that got knocked out of the contest... first to see if they were poisoned, and that's why Ebonfeather fell... and secondly, to see if they don't have any extra he can purloin. Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 Unsure, what might be relevant here... but can make a craft (alchemy) roll, if that works better to identify, or sleight of hand or stealth rolls, if needed to pocket something
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Damhán again fires the crossbow, this time at the opponent near the downed Ebonfeather. 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 = 12, for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 non-lethal damage. But his lack of experience with weapons shows.
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Ebonfeather has 31 hp's max... is he really unconscious at 20 nonlethal?
Damhán curses, as he tries to get the crossbow pointed the right way. He had not touched one in many years, and rankled at the absurdity of the entire situation. He finally gets the weapon sorted, and looks up to see Ebonfeather already on the ground, after only a few blows. Seemed hardly enough to have downed him so quickly... but he knew little of tengu... perhaps they were just not as hardy as a typical Ulfen. He points the crossbow towards the man that downed the rogue, and fires. ranged vs green: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 = 18, for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 non-lethal damage. He then goes about reloading, as he steps back towards Conig. standard: fire at green, move: reload, 5' step.
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
"So you don't want to know how we handle ourselves in combat... but how we handle a mindless melee?" Damhán mutters "Not surprising. This lot seems incapable of thinking behind sticking things with a sword, or bashing heads in a with a club." He adds. "I'm amazed they're still in operation." The non-lethal weapons are limited to melee weapons right? Don't think you can use ranged weapons to deal non-lethal damage.
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Damhán snorts. "There's one like her in every place like this." He growls, his dislike for the Captain, and their situation as evident as ever. "They don't want you here, so they do what they can to make you fail, or give up on your own." He explains. "We're the outsiders here... not part of the group."
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 "Avoid giving away their position, with no regard to my own?" Damhán retorts, sarcastically. "I'm sure if I just pretend it's not wherever it is sounds about right. That seems to be how things work here."
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Would this be a normal monster knowledge thing vs the base creatures CR? (asking to see just how much one might know, or if we even succeed for posting reasons) Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Damhán delays slightly, just to passive aggresively annoy the captain, before answering. "Well, if we're talking the common salamanders of my homeland... they usually don't fight, but run away. Which always seemed prudent given they're typically no longer than one's hand, and quite easy to step on." If the Knowledge check was successful: He smirks slightly, before going on.
"Of course you could be referring to the extraplanar elemental creatures, which are far more likely to fight back, and a great deal larger." He offers. "Their tails don't usually fall off, but are capable of grabbing onto a foe, and squeezing them to death... all while they stab you with whatever weapon they have handy... though they are partial to spears, I have read. And of course, their internal body temperature is considerably higher than ours... or even that of a typical forge... so if the squeezing doesn't get you, the heat might." "I reckon any means of preventing them from grabbing you would curtail the squeezing." He offers, after a moments contemplation. "And suitable armor might protect from the stabbing. Then its just some protection from the heat, and their threat levels are reduced considerably." "Though I... I'd prefer to never let them get that close to need such tactics" He scowls at the captain and the training grounds. "But one rarely gets what one wants."
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Ah.. ok, that makes sense... well... except the 'kindly' part =) Damhán manages to refrain from sending things lobbing at the Captain, as she continues to berate everyone. Knowing the climbing to be a lost cause, he doesn't dwell on it, instead bypassing the obstacle entirely... only to met by a new one. He frowns at the muddy water... but in the end realizes its just that, muddy water. Back home, they'd be tossing you into a fast flowing frozen river. This had to be a step up from that. With a sigh, he jumps in, and starts a slow, but steady paddle, across the flooded quarry Swim: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Damhán has no intention of vainly attempting to do something he knows he can not do.
What does the or mean on the obstacle list?
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Damnán stares at the wall with almost the same animosity he gives to Captain Othis. Eventually he sighs, and at least tries... though can barely find hand holds to grip onto, much less have the strength to pull himself up on. Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
As mentioned, there's no way for me to make this check! I could cheat... but that apparently is frowned upon =) I want to be able to telekineses myself!
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
as far as I can tell, it is literally impossible for me to make the climb checks... if its 20+, the best I can do is a 19, and I have to make two? Seems kind of pointless at this point.
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Do I have to start over with 2 checks, or just 1 more to get through? Going to assume just the 1 Damhán continues to push his way through the crawling obstacle, unsure what the point of such a ridiculous trial is. Escape Artist: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 "Is this stupid thing over yet." He mutters.
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Wait, I thought I posted already...
Damhán scowls at the next obstacle as if trying to decide whether to just tear the whole thing apart with his mind, and scatter it across the field. Eventually though, he gives an annoyed sigh, and gets down to make the attempt. Slowing every now and then to mentally push up on any particularly low sections of wire. GM: He is going to use his telikinetic ability to try to push the wires and such upwards as he goes, so he has a little more clearance... and perhaps a bonus on his escape artist rolls =) Escape Artist: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Hrmm.. definitely not as good a rolls as the post I lost somewhere! Ah, the vagaries of fate!
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Can I use my telekineses to try to prevent my allies from falling, if they slip? There would be no visual evidence =)
Damhán looks at the log and frowns. He holds back the urge to just throw the log off into the distance somewhere... though it's close. With a put upon sigh, he waits until Alrik has made his attempt, then steps up to get it over with. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
faux Profession (soldier): 1d20 ⇒ 9 Damhán seems no more dedicated to this particular task, than he has most of the others, since you're arrival. You're starting to wonder if he's messing up on purpose. Well, they're sure staying off the regular skill check list so far =)
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Ya, the scrubbing part I would have to do manually. =) But the hauling of the unloading of goods he can do easily enough. With a helper to align them more exactly as they go into the larder. Fort save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Sleeves of many garments create illusory clothing, they are not going to provide any sort of comfort or protection =) Ha, forgot to even roll it! Profession (soldier): 1d20 ⇒ 8
"Moving the beds will just give them more to b&$+% about." Damhán says. I know this type well. He pulls out his own bedroll, to replace the one that Othis made off with. "Because we all need to know how to kill someone with a bed." He growls.
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Damhán makes no fuss about the gruel. He's endured worse, from worse. These wannabes were no match for the abuse his own countrymen heaped on him when he was younger. "My favorite." He mutters, as he takes the ladled portion, and spoons a little into his mouth with two fingers. "Could use more lumpy bits." He adds, as a critique, returning the pech's look, but without the smile.
Human Kineticist 5 ( HP 53/53 | AC 16, T 14, FF 12 | CMD 16 | Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +5 | Init +6 | Perc +8 | Burn: 0/7 )
Hmm... the headband might be tricky, as it conflicts (slot-wise) with his charisma one... and the 24 hour waiting period when switching them around would bite you. But perhaps a scarlet and blue sphere ioun stone... costs twice as much (8k), but it wouldn't conflict. Or perhaps a flawed version, so only 6k... if you don't mind feeling a little sickly
