Once again sorry about the delay, work has been absolutely mental and family is taking up the rest of my time.

I think as Maksim says it may be best if i take a month off to get on top of everything, when thats done i'll post in here and pm you all and we can sort out the recruitment finally.

I've been really busy this week and i've got a long weekend with my daughter, i'll try and update tomorrow afternoon. Sorry about the delay.

Silva deftly evades the creatures attacks and swings back at it with his greatsword...

To hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (3, 5) + 9 = 17

Dispite taking a chuck from the wall he also deals the beast a huge blow spraying ichor across the room.

Round 2

Andrej drops to the ground and draws his sword as the vermin wriggles its way to the top of the chasm. It lashes out at Silva with its bite and whips its tail around to try and trip him as he blocks its way into the room.

Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 5) + 7 = 13 Plus poison
Tail: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 Non lethal damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Trip if hit: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

Might be worthwhile, i'll go over them on the train home.

I'll update everything tonight, might extend the recruitment as well since we've not had many applicants.

We have recently lost a player to RL and another to causes undetermined so we are having another small recruitment drive. The characters we lost were a sorcerer and a paladin so i'll be favouring casters and strikers to try to maintain the party balance.

Everything from the first post apllies however the characters will start at 3rd level with 2000 gold to spend, i do prefer the standard races but a person with a good reason could tempt me into allowing some things from the advanced race guide.

Applications will close at 8am gmt next tuesday due to the bank holiday and my general schedule at the moment, i think the party will see the current encounter through until the end with the departing pc's as bots so it may take a little while after selection for introductions to take place just so the applicants are prepared.

Silva steps up and chops at the beast with his blade...

Move to J8 and power attack.

To hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 4) + 9 = 17

But his overhand blow catches the roof, bounckng harmlessly from the creatures segmented armour.

I'm going to say you don't provoke due to cover, most of the monster is still in the chasm round the corner.

Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

The huge insect rears away from the fire but cannot avoid it, several of its legs crisp away anddrop to the ground.

Forgot to put the order on after it ate my post, Andrej, It, Silva, Maksim, Egan. I'll post for Silva on my lunch break.

Thanks for letting us know Silva, i know if you have a lot on it can be hard to keep up with everything. Let us know if you get on top of everything and i'll make space for you, its been great having you in game.

I'll bot Silva till the end of this run then we can open up recruitment again for a couple of players, i'll try to put a post up tonight.

Probably the best option to be honest Andrej.

The creature whips its tail at Andrej again as he tries to make it back to solid ground...

To hit: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 Damage non lethal: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Trip: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

But the constraints of the cramped space does not allow it to come anywhere close.

I'm sorry Andrej, you cannot withdraw using a form of movement that you don't have a listed speed for. Also it has a 20ft reach, you might want to rethink that plan anyway.

Ate my post...

The huge centipede squeezes between the narrow chasm walls as it scuttles up to Andrej, lashing out with its whip like tails to dislodge him from his precarious grip.

Partial charge with tail attack.

To hit: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6 Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
If hit trip attempt: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

Its tail slaps at Andrej but is held back by his armour.

Silva initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Centipede initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18

Theres going to be a little delay aas i've got a lot on at work at the moment, just on my second11 hour day to finish off my target. I'm working till 8 tonight and then i've got my tt game, if Silva posts in the mean time we'll kick off combat tomorrow, if not i'll roll for him and we'll get started anyway.

Sorry about the wait.

Chasm!

Andrej swings out on the loops he knows to be safe to afix Maksims rope when from the southern corner of a chasm a huge shape scuttles up the wall towards him.

Andrej make a perception to see if you can act, everyone else is surprised. Roll initiative, the critters position is where it will be once it has moved.

Taking 10 is an option for the climb, Andrej can happily point out each loop tied with a slip knot thanks to his high perception roll. Stringing your own rope across would make it easier to withdraw if you needed to.

Andrej reaches out to one of the loops and gives it a sharp tug, the loose knot causes it to come away in his hand. Several of the loops have been tied in the same way as a booby trap.

"Brought straight here, boss went over. Not seen other side, boss took kobold God over. Taunt us with God before torture. Must get Sharptooth back!" You get the impression that he is talking about some kind of idol.

Andrej make a perception.

There are loops of rope around some of the roots on the cealing of the chasm, the mites used these to swing across. Looking over the edge the bottom is shrouded in darkness but is at least 30ft down.

Climb dc 10 if you use the loops, its a long jump and due to the confines of the lair the acrobatics dc would be 20.

Mikmak was heavily injured, sitting on 1 hp after the torture that killed the other kobolds.

"Thank you for magic, and weapon. Their chief over cavern, he has God." Mikmak bobs his head in thanks.

"Give me sword, i fight! Softscales help get god back and Sootscales give many treasures!" Mikmak chirps is his high pitched common.

Maksim's second arrow finishes the mite he wounded, Egan drops another with his crossbow before Andrej plows into them and cuts a third down with his flashing blade.

Panicked the last remaining mite turns from the battle and flees across the chasam at the edge of the room, deftly swinging across on the roots poking from the wall.

Withdraw from Andrej, double move. Ends up in a tunnel on the far side of the cavern out of sight.

The kobold has a look of recognition and begins to speak in common through his battered lips, "Softscales come to rescue Mikmak? You remember radish sweetness? Help me, fey hurt Mikmak, hurt all Sootscales!"

Been waiting on activity for a few days again, i know the forums where down for a while yesterday but could we try to pick up the pace a little.

With room in the chamber to fully swing his blade Silva strikes down the closest mite, clearing the area below the hole.

Egan cannot get the correct angel of fire in the cramped tunnel and his bolt slams harmlessly into the floor.

Round 2

Egan is directly above Andrej.

The mites stand around numbly surprised by the bloody assault and the kobold screams out in draconic...

"Letoclo! Letoclo! Astahii re gethrisjir ekess svent Ve!"

Draconic:
Help! Help! They are going to kill me!

Order is Silva, Arielle, Egan, Andrej, Maksim, Mites.

Maksim and Andrej both leap into the room within seconds of each other, landing near Silva. Andrej's blade flashes killing one mite while Maksim plants an arrow in another mite, wounding but not killing it.

Thought to best to narrate all that together, Egan still to go.

Silva climbs down into the room landing between two shocked mites, before moving forwards to make space for the others.

Andrej is obviously getting stuck in, Egan and Maksim?

Thats understandable, do you want to take his actions Egan? You know him better than i do and if we're desperate to know what he would do you can get in contact with him faster.

Just waiting on Silva, i've dropped Arielle a pm to see whats happening. Hopefully we can get back on top of this post count.

Just to clarify, you are currently above the torture room in the tunnel which leads to it. When you drop/climb down from the roof you will arrive in square (H, 4), the chasm at the side of the map is on the edge of the torture room. I've been a bit sick as well Maksim and i just realised my description was not precise enough.

That acrobatics check will prevent the fall damage Andrej, but before you do go for it stealth will not really work as you will basicly land in the middle of them as a clarified above. If you want to change your action as a result of the new info feel free.

Torture Room

After a few yards the tunnel ends in a hole leading 10 feet down to a deeper chamber, a high pitched squealing noise like a creature in pain comes from below followed by several child like giggles.

Keep the same initiative for now, they are still unaware so you have the advantage of another surprise round. Jumping down the hole would take a dc10 acrobatics check to negate the falling damage or you can take a dc10 climb check if you want to use the roots and take a little longer.

Order is Silva, Arielle, Egan, Andrej, Maksim, Mites.

The tiny trebuchet is poorly made and definately mite construction.

Nothing detects as magical in the room Egan, its simply full of bits of wood and metal.

Silva drops into the room and runs the second mite through with a thrust of his greatsword, pink blood sprays across the back wall from the heartseeking blow. Maksim arrives at the ledge to find the room clear.

A second tunnel leads deeper into the warren, past the work bench strewn with bits of wood and the tiny trebuchet.

So whats going on?

Egan's bolt catches the closest mite in the chest and drops it instantly, the other mite starts with surprise as he drops down to the floor of the room.

Next up, Silva you need to move into the room to let the people behind you pass. Big paladin, small dungeon!

Arielle initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Order is Silva, Arielle, Egan, Andrej, Maksim, Mites.

The mites continue firing caltrops at and taunting each other in Sylvan, oblivious to your presence in their warren. A few caltrops lay scattered on the floor but with the soft ground and being so few they won't impeed your movement.

Just waiting on Arielle's initiative, i'll roll it for her in the morning if we haven't heard anything. Lets try to keep the post rate up when we start combat, this could take a while.

Yes, you have a surprise round. But remember your stuck in your order until you pour into the room.

The mites do not notice you at the enterance way as they are too engrossed in their game, roll initiative.

Mites: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Egan advances down the steep tunnel to the east, after 30 feet he reaches a ledge dropping 7 feet into a small room. Three crude, wooden workbenches occupy the center of this room, their tops strewn with various tiny tools, metal and wooden hardware, and blocks of wood. Two mites are currently engaged in playing some kind of game involving a small trebuchet like device and caltrops, firing at each other and trying to catch the caltrops in their mouth.

Map

Its a small room and a moderate drop, no damage from falling though. The penalties for medium creatures apply.

At the bottom of the shaft the cramped tunnel leads off in two directions, east and west. Maksims keen ears can hear the sounds of mites but the direction it is coming from is hard to determine, they sound to be all around you.

Choose a path, after that could the front two make perception checks.

Just waiting on a marching order, if people don't mind Egan feel free to assign one.

There are at least three combat encounters in here, so lets try to keep the post rate up.

If you have buffs which are 10 min/lvl durations or longer i'd cast them early. I need a "marching order" so i know who's where in your climb down into the lair.

Egan finds a deep hole under a huge root but it does not lead into the mites lair, Maksim however finds a lump of turf which lifts to reveal a small but deep hole leading into the tangle of roots below ground.

The chute is rarely more than 5ft wide and further constricted by the tangle of roots poking from the walls, 20ft down there is a tunnel heading east and west. Not much light penetrates the hole.

Medium creatures take a -2 on attack rolls inside the confined space of the tunnels and it takes a dc5 climb check to make it down safely.

This is a pretty complex map so sorry about the delay, i've been cutting and trimming for an hour to try and get it to work. You'll see what i mean when you see it. Theres also some extra rules in play here so i'll explain them as you get in.

Anza stays back with your heavier gear as Maksim leads you across the grassy hills to the old sycamore, as the sun sets you have not come across anything but faded tracks and the tree looms nearby.

You dismount and approach, and begin searching among the trees large solid roots to find the hidden enterance Maksim saw the mites coming from earlier.

Perception checks

Its currently late afernoon, about an hour before sunset. Do you want to go now or tomorrow? Its about an hour and a half ride.
