The dragon roars and wriggles under Jorlitharr's strong grasp. However, it never takes its eyes away from Thravum. It faces Thravum, its eyes flashing and throat gurgling. "You will not take it from me!" it cries at Thravum in a raspy, deep voice. Flames flicker from between its teeth, and suddenly a spray of fire springs forth from its mouth. Red and orange flames surround Thravum. Fire breath:
The dragon exhales fire in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 16d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.Fire damage: 16d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 2, 6, 4, 4, 2, 3, 1, 2, 4, 1, 6, 4, 3) = 52 Fire breath recharge: Recharge on 5 or 6: 1d6 ⇒ 6
The dragon flies straight upwards twenty feet. It bellows, "I demanded you to leave immediately, but you ignored me and invaded my nest!" It squeezes Thravum, it's claws digging through his armor. Claw damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11 With that, it drops Thravum. Damage for 40ft drop: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 3) = 14 It lands heavily on the ground next to Thravum, then crawls a short ways to hide itself from Olek behind the rock pile nest.
Crimsonwing tears its eye away from Olek, shivering one more time. It turns its head to see Thravum in its nest. The dragon roars and flies straight to the rock pile. Its arms reach out and it tries to grab Thravum. "Nooooooo!" it roars. Grapple check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Thravum, make an opposed Strength check. Equal or beat 23 in order to not be grappled.
The dragon lifts its head as it hears vague, incoherent whispers echoing inside its brain. Wisdom save: 1d20 ⇒ 20
It shakes its head vigorously, and roars. The dragon's wings unfurl and it takes off from the stone pile, flying over the lake. It hovers twenty feet in the air, staring down at Jorlitharr. "You know not of what you speak!" it bellows, tiny flames sparking from its mouth. "You know nothing. You speak lies. Leave this place!" It flaps the tips of its wings so little jetties of foam kick up from the water's surface and spin around Jorlitharr and Olias. The swirling water and foam steadily draw your gaze. Hypnotic Pattern: You create a twisting pattern of colors that weaves through the air inside a 30-foot cube within range. The pattern appears for a moment and vanishes. Each creature in the area who sees the pattern must make a Wisdom saving throw, DC14. On a failed save, the creature becomes charmed for the duration. While charmed by this spell, the creature is incapacitated and has a speed of 0. The spell ends for an affected creature if it takes any damage or if someone else uses an action to shake the creature out of its stupor.
The dragon growls, its red eyes flashing. It shakes its head vigorously and throws the mace onto the floor out of the stone pile. It straightens, grasping the edges if the stone pile in its claws. You can now see its head, neck, and two clawed hands. "I see you are admiring my treasure," comes a booming voice from the dragon. "MY treasure. It is mine, and mine alone." Its tongue flicks out across its long white teeth. You see a fiery glow in its throat. "I will allow you to leave if you go right now. You will take nothing. If you do not leave immediately, I will destroy all of you."

Your loud words echo across the cavernous room. You hear a snort coming from the stone mound, then the dragon's head peers over the side. The eyes are burning bright as they stare at you bobbing in the water. ROLL FOR INITIATIVE Crimsonwing Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Wisdom Save: 1d20 ⇒ 8 The dragon's tail suddenly shudders violently back and forth. A large exhale of warm bubbles explode from its mouth. Frightened condition:
A frightened creature has disadvantage on Ability Checks and Attack rolls while the source of its fear is within line of sight. The creature can’t willingly move closer to the source of its fear. The dragon swims quickly forward, disappearing from sight of those still standing on the flagstones. Those swimming see the glowing bulk of the dragon swim forward about forty feet and rise to the surface of the water, sticking its head out. It climbs out of the water and those underwater don't cannot see a trace of it anymore. Wisdom Save for psychic damage: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Psychic damage: 4d10 ⇒ (8, 2, 10, 1) = 21
The dragon sneezes, bits of charred boogers and puffs of flame spraying out. It looks very much awake. It grabs the grappling hook Dex check to remove the hook without damage: 1d20 ⇒ 5 It fumbles with the hook and rips it out with a clawed hand, blood streaming from its mouth. The dragon glares at each and every one of you. It opens its toothy mouth and yells in a scratchy hiss, "Rrrathaak tuloot!" Then suddenly, it dives under the water in a big splash. It is glowing with an eerie green fairy light and you see it swim under the water towards the eastern wall. Half of its bulk disappears, seemingly into the wall.
The dragon sharply shakes its head in the dusty air. Its eyes focus on Thravum, and it roars in anger. It raises an arm from the water, reaching out with its bone-white claw to slash at Thravum's stomach. Claw attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
It roars, then hisses, "Sssssahss trlak stasssssh!" The grappling hook is still lodged in its mouth. Blood trickles out of the wound.
It then lunges and clamps its jaws around Thravum's leg.
Thravum, you need to make an opposed grapple check. You can make a Strength (Athletics) check or a Dexterity (Acrobatics) check, and you must beat a 16. |
