Looks like I found this at the right time since a friend and I were looking at how we'd do an Alera type adventure and were wondering how we'd do the spells etc. We'd been looking at something along the lines of the 3rd ed psionic rules since in the books you do sometimes see the characters pushing their powers something which the powerpoint system lets you do.

We'd also looked at treating the actual furies as something similar to the eidilons i.e. it can walk round with the caster all day if you like but if it gets too injured it's got to return.

Finally we were thinking of two human "races" of citizen and steadholder with the citizen being able to call on more elements initially but the steadholders would have a stronger summoned fury to start with since one of the high lords in the books notes that the named furies the steadholders have tend to be stronger than the individual ones the citizens have.

You know that lesser resto scrolls cost only 25 gps if made by a paladin. If your GM said there are no lesser resto scrolls by pallies, go find a lvl 4 pally to cast it on your eidolon, its 10 gps. Even level 1 characters can afford that.

If your GM is stingy on level 4 paladins then level 3 clerics can provide that same service for 60 gps. More expensive but still within reach of all low level characters.

Problem with that is it relies on a party still having access to somewhere to purchase those items / services. If your a party of lvl 1 characters starting on something like the serpents skull campaign those aren't really options and the way our GM was running it there was a ton of ability damaging poisons etc cropping up in the jungle.

For our summoner the GM ran it that the ability damaged healed on its home plane when it was unsummoned at the normal rate. This also meant were it to die it would still come back with the appropriate amount of ability damage so no killing it and then resummoning it the following day with all the ability damage healed (intentionally killing something bonded to a party member the way an eidolon is didn't really sit well with the party).

When picking the favoured class features as a half elf summoner the APG states the summoner can add 1/4 to the evolution pool. In our group a the moment there are two interpretations in how this should work so need to check which is right

1) The summoner gets an extra 25% evolution points.

2) The summoner gets 1 extra point per 4 levels
