Just wanted to mention that I'm traveling this week, so my posting might be more erratic than usual. (Or, it might not be. Hard to say.)

Cinnamon had started off in a good mood after their successful adventure, but once the journey began she had grown increasingly bored, restless, and bad-tempered. At least we'll be in Korvosa soon. I never thought I'd miss the city, but I do.

Which is to say that when they arrive at the gates, only to see them blocked because of some sort of 'martial law', Cinnamon is in no mood to meekly submit. She prepares a devastating retort, sure to get a satisfying reaction, if a dangerous one. Fortunately, cooler heads prevail and Jun begins the conversation civilly.

So Cinnamon swallows her pride and tries to help him.

"For that matter," she tells the guards, "we are on King's business. At least, they are on King's business --" Cinnamon indicates Luc and Amber, "--and we are escorting them."

Cinnamon basks in the adoration of the crowd. During brunch, she recounts the events of the raid at least three different ways, all playing up the evil of the villains, the prowess of her companions, and the grace of Sarenrae.

Her exhaustion catches up with her quickly, however, at least in part because she drinks more than she eats. In the middle of performing Gyllan's soliloquy to Viktor about the consequences of betrayal she puts her head on the table. Her snores are in strange counterpoint to those of Eudonius.

Cinnamon actually didn't sleep last night -- she stayed up all night to keep watch, then used a spell to remove fatigue, but it wore off on the way back to the inn. She'll need to sleep before we go, unless she can sleep in a wagon or on the back of someone's horse.

"Oh thank you, Gyl!" Cinnamon gushes. "It's pretty cool -- I've never seen one like it before. What do you think about the color? Do you like the color? I could always paint it green -- that would really bring out the color of my eye." She winked her left eye at Gyllan, then leaned closer. "What about the length -- do you think it would it look better if it hung lower?"

Then Cinnamon turns on her heel with a laugh, and helps pack up. "I don't know why you'd want an old stick, Jun, but of course you can have it."

OK, you scared me for a second, because I already have a +1 Natural Armor bonus from being a changeling. So I did some digging.

Natural Armor is weird. Natural Armor bonuses do not stack. But an Amulet of Natural Armor give a +1 Enhancement Bonus to Natural Armor, which does stack with Natural Armor. (But doesn't stack with other Enhancement Bonuses to Natural Armor.)

So the Amulet of Natural Armor would work even with your mutagen, but you can't have it because I already got dibs. :)

This got asked a lot in the Rules Forum, here's one fairly succinct thread at semi-random.

Amber's words penetrated through Cinnamon's haze of fury, and she froze, still staring at the erstwhile cleric's head. Tessa's face was so battered as to be unrecognizable. With a disgusted sigh, she gave it one last kick into the corner of the room, then straightened her clothing and turned back to the group as though nothing had happened.

"We would be honored to escort you back to the city. I'm sorry your journey came to such a...sad end." Cinn walks over and peers into the fire, just in case something from this mysterious cure had survived the flames.

She shakes her head and continues. "Am I the only one here who could use a bath? A real one, with plenty of hot water and suds? Because I feel like I haven't washed in weeks. And besides..."[b] Cinnamon trailed off, both because she realized it really had been weeks since she'd last washed and because she noticed the things that Jun had taken to examine.

[b]"Oooo," she said, rushing over to him and gently touching the necklace, "pretty! Well, not really, but it is shiny. It reminds me of my friend Palo, waiting for us back at the inn. I wonder if he'll hang? Would it be all right if I -- could you please do the clasp for me?"

Cinnamon smiled and leaned towards the former guardsman, pushing her hair aside so that he easily secure the necklace.

Yes please, I'd be happy to take the necklace :) Nothing else looks particularly interesting except maybe the wand. I don't have Spellcraft, so I can't help identify anything else.

Cinnamon feels the healing energy wash over her, the way it used to when Sarenrae loved her. She forces the words "Thank you," past her lips in Jun's general direction, without actually looking at the former guardsman.

She listens as her companions recap the fight, and helps Eudonius to his feet.

"It's not a taint, Master Lynch, it's part of who you are. And who you are is pretty impressive...I've never seen someone swing an axe like that."

Then she spies where Tessa's head landed after Gyllan's mighty stroke. Cinnamon runs over to it and kicks it like a ball against the wall, again and again and again, mumbling under her breath the whole time. "...blessed of Zon-Kuthon...kidnapping...helpless girls...show you something about..."

Cinnamon watches the final moments of combat, as blood and heads fly, and bodies fall. "That was -- Sarenrae's golden nimbus, that was exciting. What do you think they do for an encore?"

She walks over to where Eudonius has fallen and attempts to stop his bleeding.

"Time to even the odds," Cinnamon declares. "Amber, I know you want your revenge on Tessa. Well now's your chance!"

The sorceress makes complicated motions with her hands, and then the unmistakeable sound of ropes snapping and slithering comes from the altar.

Cinnamon casts Ghost Sound -- which per the Rakahasa bloodline arcana is disguised as Animate Rope (+1 to the Spellcraft DC to identify, missing by 5 or more results in believing it is Animate Rope) -- to make the sounds of Amber's bonds being loosed. Perhaps Tessa will be distracted at the thought of her ritual being spoiled.

Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Let's claw the zombie twice. I'm sure I've seen a reference to using held charges during natural attacks, but lets not slow down this fight for it. I'll try and scare it up and post something in Discussion for future use.

After the zombie's implicit refusal, Cinnamon shrugs. "Have it your way," she says, stepping up and attacking with both claws.

5' step to V42, then full attack with both claws. If either attack hits, she adds Corrosive Touch damage.

Cinnamon nods to Jun and whispers back. "I think you're right -- let's not wait any longer. But if someone else could please open the door...

Cinnamon slurs something guttural then seems to pick something out of the air with her left hand, leaving it glimmering with faint moisture.

Cinnamon moves close to the door (but not right in front of it) and casts Corrosive Touch -- holding the charge.

Well, in for a penny, in for a pound.

A look of amused exasperation crosses Cinnamon's face.

"I'm afraid you misunderstand, sugar. We weren't sent out in response to the attack. The Seneschal had already sent us out to meet Viktor's company to provide extra security. He didn't say it, but I believe he had doubts about Viktor's reliability."

Cinnamon gestures at Luc.

"We were lucky to meet up with Guardsman Theriot after he escaped from the ambush, or it would have taken us a little longer to find this place, but we'd have been here within the hour regardless."

Then she gives an elaborate shrug and a smiling wink.

"I really don't care if you surrender or not, cause I have full faith in the clean-up team. But if you do make it past them, I hope to see you at the Rusty Wayfinder next Starday night."

Cinnamon blows him a kiss and starts walking slowly north towards the door. She'll stop if he reacts to this as a threatening gesture -- she intends it to be dismissive.

Oh yeah, put on whatever modifiers you think are fair. My intent is not to short-circuit encounters unless I get lucky and/or the perfect story. But she's always gonna try.

One more use of Silver Tongue.

Cinnamon laughs to herself, and then begins to clap softly. "Nicely played Bonsie," she says at last. "Nicely played. I do hope that once we all make it back to Korvosa that you will allow me to buy you a drink. You've got the money, and you've got an exit strategy, and the one here who might hate you enough to try and kill you anyway loves Amber enough that he's unlikely to try. I can certainly see that you've earned your reputation.

Cinnamon pauses, and laughs again. "But there's just one problem. You put too much stock in your employer. Viktor made the traveling arrangements, yes, but the Seneschal was so worried about his daughter that he sent another squad in just a few hours behind the first without telling him. We're the strike team, and they're the cleanup crew coming in just a few minutes behind us."

Cinnamon locks her gaze with the enormous half-orc.

"So go ahead and walk away, if you think you can take all ten of them by yourself. Or you can surrender to us now, and live. And like I said, I'll even buy you a drink."

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

I'll use Silver Tongue to get a +5 bonus to Bluff (which I'll include in my roll) and remind you that I get an additional +2 if he finds me attractive (which I won't include -- you add it if you think it applies).

"No no no. No no no no no," Cinnamon says laughingly to Eudonius as she struts towards the surrendering Tengu. "This one looks ok. I like him. I'm sure he'll be much more helpful than Palo was."

Cinnamon giggles and starts to put her hand on the Tengu's shoulder, before scrutinizing the blood on her claws, which she is seemingly just noticing. She casually wipes her claws on her dress, then puts a hand on each of his shoulders.

"He's going to tell us all about Amber, and all about Bones and where they both are, and he's going to do it because he wants to be our friend, because he knows how good we are to our friends, doesn't he.

She smiles broadly.

"Say friend, do you know about Sarenrae? The Dawnflower has love in her heart even for kidnappers like you. It's true!"

Influence: 1d20 ⇒ 10

Diplomacy is +11, Intimidate is +5. Use whichever you think is appropriate. :)

"If someone thinks they can handle the horse," Cinnamon whispers, "We could drive it into the room before us, as cover and distraction. Otherwise, I could make the sound of a squad rushing into the room to try and get them to flinch and waste a shot."

She yawns.

"Or I could always just try and talk to them. I don't know why this always comes down to fighting."

Cinnamon gingerly takes one of the torches and follows behind the others. Then she giggles softly to herself. No matter how I try, Sarenrae always has me carrying the flame.

As Eudonius cleaves the last Tengu, Cinnamon sighs in relief, then moves to the side of the cave's mouth to watch for reinforcements from within, doing her best to stay out of sight from anyone coming that way.

That's twice now. Are Tengu just immune? I guess it's worth another try.

She tries to daze the annoying birdman again, then tries to sneak closer to the fight.

Casts Daze at the Tengu (still DC13) then takes a half move to AI7, trying to be sneaky about it, just in case the other Tengu hasn't heard any of this yet.

Cinnamon watches the Tengu exit the cave and peer towards where the 'horses' are located. As soon as he stops moving she makes a circular motion with her left hand and sucks in air to make a sharp swooshing sound.

Yeah, that's literally my only ranged attack (gotta love first level), so I was definitely thinking about it.

DM Lucendar: If I Daze someone during the surprise round do they then lose their actions during the next round? Or does it waste the spell in a round where they couldn't act anyway?
