"Computer place Commander Veradirans, head of security and engineering on group secure link" "Activated" "Number 1, security and engineering, this is under security portal Alpha 2, I have very good reason to believe our ships current problems are no accident. After just finding a deliberately placed saboteur device on the run about I just used. Someone on this ship is working to stop us. The device was joy rigged by the look of it and hastily made. This may be a bit of luck for us, even if it did nearly cost me self and of my crew's lives, he. I don't think they expect me to take a run about out, so they took the risk to harm me, this has made them show their hand. I need not say but I want them found and I want to know who is behind this. There must be clues or some evidence pointing to the culprit, find it, go over every broken system on this ship again, find them and then find the saboteur. Repeat we will have it all under control in under 5. We need to reboot our systems, been told it should be all corrected shortly." he flicked off the comms. "Are we done yet." Cooper came back. You are to stay with that shipment container until it's here and with my enganering department is that understood. The is a priority order, o and pack for a trip, if you don't want to spend the rest of your life looking at shipment boxs in a warehouse, why don't you fined a reason to still be on my ship when we undock. Now normally I would have you sent back off the ship and have the right crew member sent up." Crewman Buck shifted while he stood in front of Captain Sanron, now he was worried, there had been a mix up, but what could he do. "But really I feel crew can do the very hard task of living quarters hygiene on there own and we have engineering for environmental maintenance, but what we don't seem to have is a anyone who can cut hair well." Crewman Buck's relaxed a little, this was not a telling off after all, could this mean??. "So I am hereby reassigning you to the USS Miyazaki, NCC-17032 and our mission. Do you agree? Crewman Buck's give a big grin. "Yes Captain I would very much like that" "Good well its all sorted then. Now orders, go fine Ist officer Veradiran and tell him you will need a dedicated room as your salon. We have spear space, so it should not be a problem." "Acknowledged Captain" "Now please show me the astrogation crew files and the shipment roster updates." He then sat back and working waited for the meeting with his officers at 19:00:00

They seem to trade in Secondary Elements and there shipment. Lets see if we can get that number up past four. Also the Arrowhead runabout will be picked up now at DS9, it will meet us there now. Lt, Landen I want a full ships systems check, Number one, I want and command over view of our crew and assets. You recommend more food stocks and hard to make spear parts. Please look into that, send requisition requests to the Admirals office. Lt Grrazz I want a report on our fighter wing and your team. If your short something you think you will need contact Number one and ask him to put a request for you. Commander Wey Full report on our crew, get all needed vaccine's as well. We have a diverse crew lets not have them giving each other conditions. We will have a command meeting at 19:00:00 hours. Any Questions or comments?"

He then fills Lieutenant Grrazz on what has been discuses so far.

Looks at his command crew, he was happy, he had been outside the vetting proses, but that was normal for this kind of mission. The USS Stackport was a good ship but he had out grown it. Not on picket duty he was confident it would be fine with his old 1st officer as its Captain. Now his new command team was working well, He could feel the Admiral was pleased. They had some fear, some trepidation but there was a lot of excitement there. Veradiran was hard to read but as a Vulcan he had that cold hard feeling range. He would be a great asset and was already asking the right thing. "The basic idea with our ship is, where others have used just one mainline ship to explore, we will have a mini fleet of lesser craft with the range and ability to explore close to mother. Safety is paramount, I have studded other Exploration captains and to be frank, the risks they took where close to reckless. One James T Kark comes to mind, reading his service record as both excelirating and terrifying. Know this I am no James T Kark, nor am I a 'Sit back Jack' the rule book is fine with know knowns but unknown unknowns we are going to working things out with, insight, locgic, will, wit and everything we have. Nods and adds to his crew "Also we will have a number of Auxiliary craft that I hope will aid us in our trip." He brings up images of the craft now on fly throw deck 12.
"With less crew and civilians some of the space saved has been altered in to science labs and fabrication units." A list of labs comes up. "Tactical also will have three helms, one main 2 back ups and a dedicated Holo deck for combat sim's." More images, "I have also asked that the main computer be beefed up. With remote craft and drone control, be sim units." More images "We will be trying out not only new hardware but also new tactics and proceeders." He then looks back at the Admiral, for his comments.

The Akira-class can perform a saucer separation using the catamaran hull edging to define the start.
Auxiliary craft
I agree 'Versatility' over 'Mission specific'. Not all threats are "Same level" ships, that's way more star wars than star trek, the whole idea is flexibility, and being able to roll play any situation we may meet. That is why I piked a range of raft to max out the flexibility, of the Class of ship we have been given. 40 fighters is good in a knew war with known enemy. Small Borg cube or Romulon radar etc. But we are headed into the unknown, not just a war. flexibility is key, one long range scout gives us range with out risking the main ship. Runabouts can carry a lot of crew. Fighters do there job in a fight. Scout ships prob at range. The cool thing about the Aika class in the fact it has three big hangers and we can fill them with craft to aid the mission in more than one way. Making her bigger, that is really down to the GM an making the size change for that class.
Auxiliary craft
If you look at the schematic, you see three bay Entry points, BUT I take your point about the long range scout, I think we can cut that down to one long-range Scout, You seem to be wedded to the idea we have a fleet of fighters. So again my point stands what are with going to do with a load, of piloted weapons platforms known as fighters, that have only one use, Shooting things. Where and exploration trip, long range scouts make far more science than a groups of fighters blasting things. Auxiliary craft
I factored in the sizes, there are three main bays and the flight decks run the whole long ways of the Sorcerer. The long range are wide and long not high. With this kind of mission an given the need to explore they seem like a much better use of space then one trick pony fighters.

Looking at the Akira-class starship, its as close to a carrier that starfleet has, it should have 40 Fighters, but I think for this mission Its over kill and not much use unless in full combat.

Sanron walked in and after the Admiral has introduced them both handshakes the Admiral and did the Vulcan hand signal of greeting his new 1st officer. "Please carry on Number 1, I've already read some of the Admiral introduction notes." He takes a seat, places his small case by his side and takes out a data pad reading it quickly. Came into Star Fleet command offices in New San-Francisco. "Floor 130 Captain, Meeting Room 11, Ill tell Admiral DuPont's PC your on our way up" He smiled at her and walked over to the turbo lifts. His trip and been mostly sleep and replicator food. He had signed off as commanding officer of the USS Windwood, after its tour was over, He has recommended his 1st officer for A command post, young smart and well liked, but did not expect that she would be given his command. Well that was fine, they may be offering that post at the Star feel Academy he had been after for a while. But Admiral DuPont was not linked to recruitment at the Academy, he was more main stream fleet. So Sanron had no real idea why he had been called into this meeting. His record as clean-ish, yes he came close to braking the 1st contact rules on the last trip but that was more a misunderstanding than anything. Advanced races selling warp ships to pre warp cultures was a big no no, but some did it and he had just come up at the bad end of such a rouge deal. Some quick thinking and use of sleep gas and ended that little problem. The lift opened and he steeped into the Admiral offices. "Well I'm fashionably late so lets see what they have for me this time" As he walked to the door it chimed, telling those inside he was outside,
