Working on the revised Background and creating an account for him as well.

Bukis' Backstory:
The lad was to young to be able to answer their questions. Well that wasn't quite true, he was able to tell them his name and the name of his parents. "Bukis, I'm Bukis." He said haltingly in the common tongue. "My father is Jogug, mother is Gashnak." That was as far as he could go. "I'm only five!" He thought to himself. "I don't know all this other stuff!" "Where are you from? What happened to your parents? Why were you here?" All these questions and more came at him so fast he finally tucked his head down and used his dark arms to cover himself as if trying to protect himself from the verbal barrage.

He was fed and then found a home. Two ladies took him in, one was short and had blue hair. She seemed angry almost all the time, and when she wasn't angry she was sad. If she wasn't shouting at somebody (and she shouted at everybody), then she looked like she was going to cry. The other had red skin!, and no hair!, and horns! She didn't yell, she didn't do much of anything. "I be Donomsail, and this be Polli and we be yer mums. Leastways 'til we kin figure out where ya mum 'n' Pap might've gotten off to."

Five years later and they were still looking for his parents. Except now he was ten, and he had a few things figured out. His parents were gone, gone and not coming back. Bukis didn't know how he knew, no one else would admit it, but he knew. By this time things had improved, his moms weren't crying as much, Polli still yelled alot but he decided that was just how she was and it no longer bothered him, and Donomsail started baking her delicious cookies again.

The only thing that truly bothered him was his anger, well his anger and the stupid kids that lived nearby. Actually now that he thought about it the stupid kids were the cause of his anger so they were really his only problem. Get rid of them and their stupid teasing and everything would be fine. Not that he was going to do anything serious, just beat them up a little bit.

That was how he tried to explain it Moms. "I was barely hurting him, and once I was done with Barenthon the rest would've learned too." But one look at Polli's face and he knew that his criticism of the neighborhood bullies was falling on deaf ears.

So it continued, the hurtful comments, the looks that at first were filled with contempt but lately had changed to fear. Then it was the birth of their baby. Their baby! How did two women...? All the talk on the streets said it was impossible that it took a man and a woman to...No! He was not going to think about that. His moms would never do that. After the baby was born they both got super protective. They would let him see the baby and even hold her once in a while but they never let him be in charge of her. Something about her brought out a protective side, wanted to make sure she wasn't going to get hurt.

That was why he killed the neighbor's dogs, they jumped over the small fence and went running right to her and the little bunny she was carrying. "Look! You can see where they tore through the flowers!" But Sosuk was coming up the walk and he had fire in his eyes. Polli pushed him inside but he could hear them still. Bukis listened as his moms yelled the neighbor out of their yard.

That was his last day there. "There's some folks I take care of, on the edge of town. They'll take you in, I'll make sure of it." Polli told him the next morning, it was just the two of them. Donomsail was taking care of their daughter and couldn't be bothered to see him leave.

But that wasn't truly the end was it? He settled in with the rest of the discarded, unwanted beings. Learned to fish and took to the water, became good with boats and went into town to sell the fish they caught. But he stayed away from the home he had spent so much time in and had never planned to see any of them again. Then he saw her.

He recognized her instantly, partly by her looks but mostly by the way those protective feelings came flooding back. Following her he recognized an anger in her too. An unsettling rage that needed to be released. After that he spent more time in town and less on his duties. Oh he still did his chores just not with as much enthusiasm. No, that was reserved for the days he went into town which occurred with more frequency after the first time he heard her speaking against some of the long established institutions of town. The bigger the crowds the louder she got and he knew that sooner or later she was going to need his protection again. This time he did it without anyone knowing what he was doing. Time and again he gave in to his anger to protect the sister who didn't know him. He tried, a couple of times, to talk to her. But he never saw the recognition in her eyes so eventually he stopped trying. But he was never going to stop keeping her safe, keep protecting her. That was why, when he saw her being forced into the ship from faraway he knew what he had to do. This time, when he went into battle, he kept his rage in check. He started playing the long game, and in order to win that fight he had to lose this one.

Will be busy this a.m. but free all afternoon (West Coast- Home of the Eternal BBQ)

I built my background around the first one you posted for Lilly. If you're not going with that let me know and I'll change what I need to... You know what? I'll post it and you give me feedback, together we will make this work.

Okay here's my very rough idea. Male Barbarian/Human Tiefling Sharp Tooth Archetype and adopted son of Polli and Doni (their first attempt to have a child failed). So why doesn't their daughter know about him? He was gone from the home before she was very old. However he stayed close by and kept up on her doings, especially when she started getting vocal about slavery. When she ended up on the Chelish ship he made sure to do the same.

That's all for now and I have to attend to some RL matters. Hopefully get back to it tonight but not sure.

@JohnG: Do you mind tying the characters background together? If so let me know and I will change it.

I can't believe I posted as Donomsail again! Is there an easy way to stop that from happening or am I supposed to make my 50+ year old brain remember to make that change every time?

Any mistakes or anything I missed let me know. Almost finished with her background, as soon as I am it will go up as well meantime let the gaming begin!

If we are going with option 1 then I could be an officer, but if we start w/a designated officer then I see her as being the influence behind power. Either way I will start working on the build tonight and hopefully be able to post it in the a.m.

Capt Mutt finally checking in. Looking at doing a Cartomancer Witch, was originally thinking of Half-Elf but first will look at some of the non-core races that you're allowing. I envisioned her as a total support character and if it's allowed could see her in a cabin boy type of role for the Captain or maybe as a Second Mate?

Set 1:

Roll 1: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
Roll 2: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
Roll 3: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
Roll 4: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8
Roll 5: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13
Roll 6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8

set 2:

Roll 1: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12
Roll 2: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14
Roll 3: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
Roll 4: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
Roll 5: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
Roll 6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12

Like set #2, I have a couple of ideas, let me work on this tonight and hopefully tomorrow I can have a good character idea worked out. I work a 13 hour day tomorrow so if not then by Friday at the latest.

Dotting in will post stats later today (Pacific Time Zone)

There was also this old movie I only barely remember but it was the first time I cried about a movie. It was about this kid who was kidnapped and he basically him and the kid ended up having a father son relationship since the kid didn't have a dad. At the end of it the kidnapper was shot by the police. (and that kids is when I learned you can't trust the po po.) I think I was like 7.

A Perfect World, that's the movie you're thinking of; starred Kevin Costner as the kidnapper/Dad TJ Lowther as the boy and Clint Eastwood as the trigger-happy Sheriff who had a similar role in Butch's life as he did with the boy. Hated that

Spoiler:
Butch died
and truly hated Clint Eastwood for that decision as he was the director of the movie.

So many titles I see here and I say "Hey! I remember that book!". C. S. Lewis,Asimov,Verne, Clarke, Wells, Bradbury,The Mushroom Planet series. When I was in Elementary School we had the Scholastic Book Club that allowed us to get books super cheap. My parents fostered a love for the written word and would purchase any and all books I wanted. Loved the thrill of having them brought to class and handed to us. One other book that I haven't seen mentioned was about a boy that fell through a door on his planet and landed on earth. But I truly enjoyed being able to find all these books again to read to my children and pass the love of reading to them.

Ralph Bakshi, Lord of the Rings. Gave me the idea that cartoons could be so much better than the Saturday morning fare I had been used to. Got me ready for Heavy Metal and Anime. Also turned me on to the first book series that I reread about once a decade.

Backstory:
Donomsail Lishoni is looking at her reflection in the polished brass plaque that serves as a mirror and as she does so she reflects on how she ended up where she is now, never thinking that she would have the choices she now faced in her life.

Donomsail had been told for the first 15 years of her life that her red skin, horns, and clawed hands proved her direct tie to Asmodeus. She wasn't certain where her denomic heritage came from but agreed with her mother that it was most likely that one of her ancestors had consorted with the Devil and she was the result.

Looking down at her bare midriff she follows with her aquamarine eyes as her fingers trace the scars running across her body. "I can remember when everyone of these were carved into me." She thought to herself unaware that she was also talking out loud. Her fingers continue up her breasts painfully aware that no one else would want to touch her so intimately once they caught sight of the scars crisscrossing across her chest, flowing down the valley between her large breasts and joining the scars on her abdomen forming a crude pentagram that had one vertex pointing down to the folds between her legs. "Mother always told me this was the proof I was to be his bride once I came of age." Once again unaware that she was voicing her thoughts aloud.

That was the reason for the frantic search of a way out of the basement that served as her room. That day had been drawing closer as her thirteenth nameday had been approaching. Once she escaped her destiny she faced the prospect of having no idea of what to do next. She'd been found by Veh Troujoju, a half-elf that understood what it was like to be an outcast from society. Draping his cloak over her shoulders, the same cloak she was preparing to put on now, he entreated her to join him as he journeyed to Neruma to become the new High Priest of the Temple to Gozreh.

That was just over four years ago and she had taken to life in the temple as a fish did to water, fitting as she was now heading out to the docks to follow what she believed to be her destiny, preparing to put out to sea. Gozreh had come to her in her dreams, not once but many times, and let her know she could best serve him on a sea going vessel but never letting her know which vessel or how. Scrutinizing herself one last time she looked at not only her brick-red skin but the scars that some how healed black, then ran her slender fingers with their sharp pointed nails over her bare skull wondering once again why she had no hair anywhere on her body. Taking a glance at the horns that curled at the sides of her forehead she gave thanks to Gozreh for the robe given her with its deep hood and long sleeves that completely covered her. Sure it got hot in the sun but that was a small price to pay for the anonymity afforded her, allowing her the ability to go out in public even though she didn't do that often.

"Welp, here I go." This time aware of speaking out loud as she used her voice to give strength to her resolve. Taking herself away from the comfort of the only place where she never felt the summation of her future as she had at the place where she grew up, refusing to call that hell hole home. With that she left, saying goodbye to the few friends she'd made there and saving Veh for last as she wanted to remember the final advice that he would give as they both knew she would never return.

Role in Party:
I see her as a support character for the first several levels as her lack of socialization will not allow her to be very personable or demonstrative. As a Cleric she will be the one behind the scenes trying to help control the battle field. As things develop this will change as she slowly starts to find her voice.

Role on Boat:
She will want to learn as much as she can about how the ship functions. At that she will spend as much time around the Captain as they will allow, peppering questions as fast as the thoughts come to her. As she learns more about the other party members she will do the same, especially if they appear to take a leadership role.

Why be a Pirate:
She has been having dreams about going on the high seas, whether this is an actual calling from Gozreh or just her excuse for leaving her old life behind she isn't sure but she is going into this with her mind open to the possibility of a better future. She has told herself she has a destiny to fulfill but she has no idea what it might be.

Future Changes:
After the first couple of combat scenarios she will start loosening up around the other PC's. In a few levels she will no longer see herself as a victim and instead see herself as a survivor of her past. Once that happens she will be much more active in attempting to use the knowledge she has gained to help her fellow adventurers. I want to start her as a Cleric with the Crashing Waves archetype and then when she can she will move into the Storm Kindler Prestige Class.

About Me:
Like a few others here I started playing when the very first addition of D&D came out. Have played all versions of the game including 4 Ed (still recovering from the psychic damage taken from that experience) and in the last few years started playing Pathfinder in a FtoF setting. This is my first time trying out for a PbyP game and I am looking forward to trying this out. I have read the threads about how to be a good online player and will spend the next few days looking over a few of the story threads to see all that info put into RL use. Sadly no good posts to share (also no bad ones) but hopefully that will change soon.

I think I have the basics here if I am missing anything let me know and I will add it in.

Unfortunately I am currently having troubles with my laptop and am only able to post from my tablet. I have a Tiefling cleric that I would like to bring in. I have her backstory written up and will post it and all the other pertinent information as soon as I have an easier way to do so. It will happen later today I promise!

Dotting in for interest sake.
