Brugga frowns down on the men. "Brugga no think these men start as cannibals. Not good sign for food sources on island."

The a wolfish, nasty grin spreads across her face. "If no food here, maybe Aerys become useful after all!" She laughs heartily before realizing that perhaps her joke was not in the best of taste; her chuckles cut off raggedly.

Brugga would like two or three of those javelins. Not being particularly well-versed in the polite customs of the south, Brugga lets people know this by grabbing three of them and storing them on her person.

ROUND 2:

Brugga moves up to the other madman, and if she can reach him in a move:
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 1 = 10
Damage: 1d12 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 3 = 14

Brugga calls upon the strength of her people and flies into her own barbaric rage. She moves if she has to and power attacks.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 1 = 15
Damage: 1d12 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 3 = 19

Brugga unlimbers her greataxe while moving to engage the locals.

Brugga turns to the east. "This way," she says and starts climbing cliffs. She'll be looking for a good vantage point from which to see ships and will start gathering up materials for a signal fire.

"Maybe see ships from on cliffs? Light fire? Get rescue?"

Brugga grins. "Brugga like north. North good. How far north we go?"

Brugga frowns at the self-medicating woman.

"Brugga see this before. Men of tribe do this when winter go long time and grog run out. Must take her off grog slow. Grog here run out very soon, and be saved for real medicine. Grog kill shadow spirits in hurts."

Brugga pauses next to N'goka and Ishiro, then comes over and claps him on the shoulder. "Good choice, N'goka. He strong man. He do good job."
Diplomacy roll:1d20 ⇒ 12

Maybe if somebody with actual skill in diplomacy comes over, these two can count as aid another rolls...

Brugga is still in shock the next morning, and only at Gareth's tirade does she snap herself out if it.

"Short man!" Brugga calls out, jerking herself fully awake. She grabs her axe and makes as if to pursue, then slowly lowers her hand. "Tranz..."

She thumps back down to the ground with a stunned look on her face.

Brugga is willing to take a middle shift, and doesn't care with whom it is.

Brugga nods. "Beach cooler. Good breezes. Vix, stay."

Brugga is also eager to explore the island, although if there was to be a day where the party will be staying at the campsite all day, she would be willing to lend her assistance as a guard.

As for the heat, she's wiped out by about 10:30, and finds the heat oppressive until 4 or 5 hours after noon. She'll tough it out though.

to those who might have no interest in keeping the NPCs alive...be aware that you can have major advantages if you get them on your side...they can act as camp guards...and fulfil other duties freeing up the PCs to explore..but they must be made at least indifferent to get any work out off them..oh and theres bonus Xp for keeping them alive

Heh! Never said I didn't have any interest in the NPCs, just Brugga. She needs somebody brave enough to try to explain it to her!

Hi folks, I'm back for good now. Thank you for your patience.

Brugga is quite relieved to have Vix back and is less than helpful in searching the ship once she has found him. She does help carry supplies, however, and help in selecting a campsite.

As for convincing the other passengers to be friendly, Brugga has zero interest in doing it of her own accord, and is liable to be quite harsh and no-nonsense with anybody moping around.

Survival check to aid in camping, hunting, etc." 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Brugga is quite relieved to find Vix and scoops him up in her arms as he bounds over to lick her face.

"Redstripe. Come with Brugga. N'goka up on deck. Brugga take you."
She beckons for the dinosaur to follow her.

Brugga searches the debris topside for Vix, before making her way down the ruined ladders to the lower decks and cabins.

"VIX!! VIX!! Where you? VIX!! Come Vix!"
Brugga ignores the humanoid scavengers now swarming the wreck as she calls out for her future familiar, stomping around looking.

Brugga rages again, moves 10' forwards to cover the group and readies an attack on the first scorpion to arrive.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 2 = 17
Damage: 1d12 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Brugga will jump down before Tranz and be ready to catch him.

"Come, short man. Brugga catch you like baby."

"Ha! Like mangy nag by fire. Don't feed nag or get fleas. Brugga not want fleas."

She does turn around, to make sure the gnome knows she's talking about him.

"Leave them be here, short man. When they die, we have meat to feed us." She gives then a toothy, wicked smirk.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Brugga rounds on the gnome, ready to tear a strip off his hide, then stops, her rage quickly passing to understanding. "Smart idea, short man. Brugga look there." With that, she dashes off to check out the remains of the wreck (or at least as close to it as she can get).

"Fine, go!" she shouts after the half-elf. "Stupid drunk! Brugga should let big scorpion eat your face!"

Brugga starts going over to random passengers and crew, yelling in their faces as they struggle to rise, "You! You see Vix? White fox? You see? Answer me, stupid man. Where Vix!?"

Brugga heads to where the pony appeared and begins searching the undergrowth.

Brugga stops raging, and gasping for breath, digs in the pile for her hide armour and her stuff (which isn't much). Then she looks about for Vix, yelling his name if she can't see him.

Is there something I missed? Last thing I remember was some stuff about an enormous shark, and then all of the sudden they're unconscious on a beach with their stuff in a neat pile. Did we just skip ahead to the start of the AP, or did I miss a ton of stuff?

Edit: Never mind, I found the post about the evening meal.

ROUND 4:
Brugga lifts up her axe for a charge at the remaining creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 2 + 2 = 23 If charging
Damage: 1d12 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 2 = 11

Round 3:
Brugga rages and attacks.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 if that hits (she does try to find a flank if she can)

Oops, ooc:
Sorry folks, I must have looked at the last post in the prologue thread before it was edited to include the link. Didn't even realize we'd started. Brugga is definitely fine with getting her axe and attacking. DM Wellard even managed to duplicate her complex speech patterns perfectly!

Even though she didn't board this ship in Varisia, she started there, plus it's the only trait that remotely interests me. She'll take the +1 caster level for mind-affecting spells version of that trait. Will that stack with her Magical Knack trait, up to her maximum hit dice?

Let me see what I can do for you Brugga.

Savage Barbarian
Some barbarians are truly savage, having little training in
modern arms. These savage barbarians learn to avoid blows
and toughen up their skin. A savage barbarian has the
following class features.

Naked Courage (Ex): At 3rd level, the savage barbarian
gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC and a +1 morale bonus on
saving throws against fear when wearing no armor (shields
are allowed). This bonus increases by +1 for every six levels
after 3rd. This ability replaces trap sense.

Natural Toughness (Ex): At 7th level, the savage
barbarian gains a +1 natural armor bonus to AC when
wearing no armor (shields are allowed). This bonus
increases by +1 for every three levels beyond 7th. This
ability replaces damage reduction.

Rage Powers: The following rage powers complement the
savage barbarian archetype: flesh wound, guarded stance*,
increased damage reduction*, intimidating glare*, rolling
dodge*, superstition*, and terrifying howl*.

Or

Invulnerable Rager
Some barbarians learn to take whatever comes their way,
shrugging off mortal wounds with ease. These barbarians
invite their enemies to attack them, and use pain to fuel their
rage. An invulnerable rager has the following class features.

Invulnerability (Ex): At 2nd level, the invulnerable
rager gains DR/— equal to half her barbarian level. This
damage reduction is doubled against nonlethal damage.
This ability replaces uncanny dodge, improved uncanny
dodge, and damage reduction.

Extreme Endurance (Ex): At 3rd level, the invulnerable
rager is inured to either hot or cold climate effects (choose
one) as if using endure elements. In addition, the barbarian
gains 1 point of fire or cold resistance for every three levels
beyond 3rd. This ability replaces trap sense.

Rage Powers: The following rage powers complement
the invulnerable rager archetype: come and get me,
guarded life, increased damage reduction*, inspire
ferocity, reckless abandon, and renewed...

Probably the Invulnerable Rager makes more sense for Brugga. She's not planning on taking very many barbarian levels over all, and the extreme endurance will help her deal with the oppressive heat. Could you also fill me in on the Superstitious archetype?

Actually, I think Brugga would be more inclined towards the archetype that is the unarmoured barbarian, whichever one that is, since she was going to be going without armour once her witch levels kick in anyway.

Fortitude save: 1d20+4
Please join me at the rail my friend. There's plenty of room.

Critical failure of a seasickness save can't be good.

Fortitude save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Oh not good. As soon as the first real wave hits the ship, Brugga is already running for the rails, heaving over the side.

Brugga shrugs.
"Whatever little man want. It new speech for Brugga. Brugga not speak it so good as this common speech."

Brugga puffs herself up proudly.

"Brugga speak many speeches. Brugga speak common tongue, Brugga speak tongue of Kellid peoples, Brugga speak tongue of Varisia people, Brugga speak tongue of dragons, Brugga speak tongue of Mwangi people, through Brugga new to this speech."

Brugga looks in on these early lessons. During a pause in their teaching, she pipes up. "What other speech little man want learn? Brugga know many speeches."

Vix lifts his head, tilts it quizically and pads softly towards Joao..he sniffs at the meat then nips it gently from between the mans fingers before retreating to eat at a safe distance.

Tariro by now has recovered somewhat even the smell off food fails to make her stomach lurch ..mainly because theres no more to bring up

Sorry Joao, I completely missed that part of your post somehow.

"Vix thank you, South Man," Brugga says in Varisian. "Vix eat better than rest of us on ship. Vix maybe get fat."

While there were quarters to be had down below, Joao wanted to put off having to do so as long as possible. This day had been tiring, but educational, and if it got him where he wanted to go, he was not going to complain. When dinner was served, he sat with his back against one of the bulkheads on the deck of the ship, looking out at the darkened seas. The piece of pork he picked out of his broth and made quiet clucking noises towards the fox, holding it out as an offering.

From attempts at conversation before, he noticed that the Kellid woman and the Mwangi woman did not speak any language he knew, a fact that made him chuckle. One of his cousins always used to say, "Women never speak the same language, ever.. You only think you understand them." That it happened to be true in this case brought an amused smile to his lips. The halfling, he looked for next, finishing his broth last, lest he choke on the biscuit and cheese, wondering if her equilibrium was faring any better. The orc he only wondered about, suspecting that the crew "put him back" for the night.

Brugga does speak Common aka Taldane, though she's probably been speaking her broken polyglot around these parts. Edit: looking at her sheet, I realize that she should know 1 plus one per intelligence point, which means she should have another. Varisian would make sense for her actually.

Brugga quickly settles into a routine of working the lines, pausing occasionally to throw up over the side alongside Tariro.

Brugga looks at the vest in her hands. "Very well, big man. Big man's ship, big man's rules."

She puts on the vest, relieved that it isn't nearly as hot as her armour had been.

"Half-orc! Never seen woman before, half-orc?" She jiggles her chest at him.

"Why half-orc in chains?"

Brugga was not lying when she said she was a hard worker. Alas, the ocean breeze does little to ease the oppressive heat she's feeling, and she soon doffs her hide armour, which leaves her little more than a loin cloth about her waist. Her nakedness doesn't seem to bother her and it exposes a torso complete with many scars.

She is very disparaging of any of the men folk who act like they've never seen a woman before.

Brugga pulls herself up to her full height. "Brugga hard worker. Brugga pulls ropes if loud man show Brugga which ones to pull."

"Tales? Brugga have no tail. Vix have tail." She gestures at the panting fox. "Me Brugga of Slothjaw from the northern Realm. Well met Tranz."
