![]() Blink, who was about ready to open her mouth and ruin Neyra's diplomatic approach to borrowing the hoverbike, was abruptly interupted by the unmistakable sound of explosives ringing through the streets outside. She gave a jump at the sudden boom followed by the sounds of gunfire and terror. Rather than hit the floor like a sane person, she ran towards the door and thrust it open to get a look outside. ![]() "Aw, c'mon. I'll treat her real good. Like a classy kinda lady," she says, though her overly whiny tone clearly marks it as a joke. "Nah, what's a shop doing with such a nice bike? You working on rigging her up nice? What kind of tech you got running in her?" Blink's questions are brought to a pause when Io repeats herself to the stranger. "Oi, you deaf or just rude? She's trying to return things. What kind of manners did you're mother teach you anyways?" ![]()
Game died
![]() "Loot, salvage, procuring. All semantics," she incorrectly deduced. When asked about their current destination, Blink points in the direction of where the hoverbike and cloaked chaps had gone off to. "Gonna go see that bike that came ripping into town!" she exclaimed excitedly. "Maybe meet those shady looking cloaked people while we're at it. I'm betting their some sort of gang!" The prospect of a gang probably excited Blink a little too much, but she had been getting bored around town lately. Not enough excitement for her tastes. Surely a gang would liven things up a touch! ![]()
Game died
![]() Blink was just dragging Io along to accompany her on this little escapade of hers when they are approached by a rather pretty woman. Blink understands the bits about starships, plundering, and retrieving valuable tech, the that parts about fathers, knights, and pilgrimages are a little beyond her comprehension. "You're stealing a tech for the who for the what now?" she asked, looking rather confused at the woman. That's when she noticed that the woman had directed the inquiry to Io, not herself. ![]()
Game died
![]() Blink follows the line where Io was pointing to and quirked an eyebrow. "Look like they're going for that Lone Ranger vibe. Only, I guess there's three lone rangers. Maybe they can be the 'Together Rangers'," she commented as she made a note of their garb. "Lame name for a gang though. Oh! Maybe they own that bike! We should go check! Maybe one of 'em is rich!" Why Blink decided it should be 'we' rather than herself was a mystery, but she eagerly waves Io onward. That bike was a mighty fine piece of work and she had a soft spot for that type of thing. ![]()

![]() I know a guy who would be more than happy to jump in on a sci fi campaign. He actually already rolled stats in the recruitment thread (LabRAT) but didn't have a chance to put together a character as quickly as he'd of liked. I think you planned for four characters anyways and it's been just the three of us. So even if Warhawk is still with us here, I can promise he'd be a good addition ;P Oh, and at the risk of sounding like a nagging housewife... >.>;;

![]() Blink's mouth twists to the side in something between disapproval and disappointment. "Not even a single punch thrown. What's the point of screaming in the streets every few days at each other?!" she said, waving her toothbrush around as she made exasperated gestures at where the pair had been.
![]()
Game died
![]() "I wha---? Oh." Looking far less embarrassed than she probably should, Blink popped the toothbrush from her mouth and wiped any residual toothpaste around her mouth off on the back of her hand. "You looked like you needed a front row seat," she explained to the robot looking thing. "And I just happen to have the best seats in the house." Using her toothbrush like a pointer, she waved to the pair arguing in the clearing the crowed had formed around the priests. ![]()
Game died
![]() Blink tries to get a head over the crowed, jumping about and trying to catch a view. "Pardon me-- 'Scuse me. Just--- Let me through, dammit!" It takes more than a little elbow work, but blink eventually makes it to the front of the gathered crowed to watch the two priests go at each other. Again. I f&~~ing knew it, she thought to herself. She had been half hoping it'd be something a little more interesting this time. If she had any interest in religion, she might have found it a little more rousing to watch the two leaders of their respective churches yell in the streets like an abusive couple. As it was, it was simply disrupting her morning routine. A small murmur through the crowed caught her attention, as did the--- construct... thing? that was causing it. No one seemed right keen on offering it any help, so she grabbed it by the wrist as it came past and tried to tug it towards her. "Front row seats right here," she said to it with a grin. When was she going to notice that toothbrush? ![]()
Game died
![]() At the sudden uproar Blink cranks open the curtains to get a better look, leaving her toothbrush hanging out of her mouth. The light hits her like a ball of fire to the eyes, and it takes awhile for her to adjust to the brightness of day. Probably just the churches going at it again, she thought to herself as she squinted around, trying to get a clear sight of the action. Oh hey, nice bike. Not wanting to miss out on anything, Blink kicks it into high gear. She grabs an outfit from a trunk in the corner of the room and throws it on, still fumbling with buttons as she squishes a hat onto her head and zips out the door. She doesn't even realize she's still got her toothbrush in her mouth as she starts down the street. ![]()

![]() I was more wondering about the archetypes rather than the classes. Sorcerer works fine since I planned on doing arcane trickster, which I can't do with psychic. It's all up on the d20pfsrd if having access to the materials is your concern. Probably easier to reference than a hard copy book, too, lol. Same with the variant multiclassing! (that said, both books are amazing and I have them both on pdf!) I'd loan them to you if I could. Incase you want some easy references...

![]() The sun had finally peeked high enough in the sky to spill through the crack between the curtains, illuminating the copious amounts of dust in the air like glitter. A large lump of blankets on a mattress placed directly on the floor gave a heave and flopped over, revealing a young woman. The woman did not look particularly please to be awake, but she drug herself out of her bed and stumbled towards a sink and mirror in the corner of her one bedroom apartment. Facing the mirror, she began her morning routine of trying to figure out if her hair looked clean enough to go another day without a wash. Probably not; she'll wear a hat. Again. She grabs her toothbrush, slaps on some toothpaste, and walks over to the window to better hear the announcements while she brushes her pearly whites. ![]()
Game died
![]() I'm not so worried on that. I'd have liked to keep her a psychic like her original concept, but arcane trickster requires an arcane class. Thought the psychic bloodline might be a decent way to go if he'd allow the bloodline. Can do some neat stuff that way. I mean, go for gold right? Worst that happens if I ask is he says no! ![]()

![]() So what all is everyone playing? I was planning on the Arcane Trickster route. Also, while I'm busy adding question after question to the DM, let me add some more! Are you allowing SLAs to qualify for prestige classes? I know they recently put out an errata for the errata, basically taking back the ability to use them to qualify, but it sure makes the multiclassing prestige classes hard as hell to work with, especially in early levels. And I just realized you had been allowing us to roll for stats. Is it too late to roll for stats as I rework my character away from cyborgy? ![]()
Game died
![]() really? D: I don't see them anywhere! also, this is totally what I imagine for my character:
only she might wear pants sometimes >.> Oh, I found the classes. Do they have a menu optin yet, or just the direct link? http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/occult-classes ![]()

![]() No worries. I've got enough fluff for her worked out personality-wise that I can start. But before I work out all her crunch for the non-cyborg stuff, is there a chance you've had a peek at the variant multiclassing from unchained yet? I was also gonna ask if the new occult archetypes were off limits. Sorcerer has an amazing new archetype in the book that sparked my creative juices (although the psychic class itself still has my heart). I'd be glad to provide the details on the archetype if you don't have the book :3 ![]()

![]() Darn, no occult classes huh? Well, I bet I can tailor my girl up to be a non-psychic. I have a character (this alias actually) that I recently made for a couple of other sci-fi recruitment threads that seems to have both stagnated, and I'd still like to see her in action! I do have some questions about the world before I get in this last minute app!
To sum up my ideal character, it'd be a half-elf (cyborg >.>b) with the either the impossible or nanite sorcerer bloodlines combined with a scavenger archetype rogue going into the arcane trickster PrC. ![]()
![]() Updated my traits. I took the warrior of old trait for elves to get a non-circumstantial bonus to initiative. I thought about taking the rift bandit trait for this campaign but the ruin delver one was just so obviously the better choice to go with her background. The others are magical lineage and armor expert. Pride drawback. Should be fun if anyone pokes fun at her! ![]()
![]() But what about people who like to have roles and rolls in perfect harmony and do things for both reasons? An alchemist who dabs poison on his tongue to ensure that it is flavorless before he drops it into the stew with a +1 to fort saves due to prolonged exposure to such things? A magus who actually lived in Minata and battled the Wayangs of the region? I use those phrases to determine why I'm doing what and making what choices. Like jacking up Con to an acceptable amount for a wizard is purely a rollplay choice for me, and having them spew random facts about this that or the other thing they encounter on the road is roleplay (all the knowledge checks!). Though I suppose no matter my intent the internet will take anything and turn it into a flame-igniter if they can. It's what you get when people are left to make their own tones and emphasis in their head. ![]()
![]() No flamebait bait here. I don't know the forums well enough to even know what qualifies as flame bait. I'm new to the paizo forums. I'm only here for the PBP. That said I'm not sure what part was hypocritical (I do my best not to be). I put up the merits for both sides (mechanically some drawbacks can almost be ignored and that they are worth their weight in gold for RP). But of course perspective is always personal so ce la via! Anyways, I have a three post rule about disagreements on forums: if you don't agree after three posts, it's just a matter of differences. The world would be boring and monotonous without them. Oh, on the topic of your class, paizo has a couple techy warrior archetypes in their Technology Guide book if you haven't had a chance to look at them. They look kinda cool. ![]()
![]() I guess it depends on perspective. I cannot think of a single class where I couldn't come up with four traits I wanted. But I suppose if all you're looking to do is 100% min-max, then maybe they are disappointing? I use them to get class skills I think suit my character but aren't on her class skill list. Most of the draw backs are really conditional (with a few exceptions) and can add some flavor with what they do. I like having mechanics like that for the roleplay, not just the rollplay. Personally, I'm going to go with the pride, because I can see her getting real sassy and snippy with someone who questions her or something. I have a drow character with the oppressive expectations drawback which is also a lot of fun to build in to her character. And... oh there was another I did recently that was pretty great but I can't recall it off the top of my head. ![]()
![]() Rynjin wrote:
You aren't looking at the right traits! You have things like reactionary, magical knack, magical lineage, armor expert, and you can buff up important mechanical traits (like savant for the bards or intimidate for the scary people). The drawbacks are really not that bad to deal with (except superstitious, don't get that one) unless you're making a lot of skill checks you aren't good at. I'm so getting a drawback and another trait +_+ ![]()
![]() Scaffold Kane wrote:
Thanks for the quick reply! I think my character is ready to go, and I've plucked wizard out as a secondary class following the Unchained variant multiclassing rule set. I'm going to use normal multiclassing rules to snag a level in rogue (scavenger archetype from the Technology Guide book) and a level in alchemist (vivisectionist archetype). I selected the wizard's teleportation subschool ability shift as my character twist for the reasons I mentioned in my first post. I'm super excited for it all! ![]()
![]() Alright. So, as it turns out psychic magic is massively different from arcane magic so psychics don't qualify for the arcane trickster PrC. That said I still want to stay true to my original concept, so I've changed to a new plan. Basically how it all plays out is that psychic is my main class, but I go heavily into rogue for the first set of levels. Now here's where I need some GM approval: I also want to pick up alchemist as a third class, but following the variant multiclass rules from Pathfinder Unchained. The spoiler lays out exactly what that would look like as I gained levels. The Level Up Plan:
Level 1 rogue with both the underground chemist and scavenger archetypes (stackable) (rogue level 1) ~ finesse training ~ sneak attack +1d6 ~ technic training +1 (from scavenger archetype; replaces trapfinding) ~ level 1 feat (precise shot) Level 2 psychic with the abomination discipline (psychic level 1)
Level 3 rogue (rogue level 2)
Level 4 psychic (psychic level 2)
From what I saw on another of your posts, this campaign was intended to go through level 5. If the campaign is set to wrap up around 5th level, this would actually go into psychic rather than rogue. Everything past 5th level is just in case you planned on potentially running this longer (I like planning ahead)
Level 6 rogue (rogue level 4)
Level 7-20 psychic (psychic level 3-16)
Basically I give up every other feat for the alchemist class features as stated in the Unchained book. From an optimization perspective I'm nerfing myself to oblivion by multiclassing a full 9 spell level caster, but I did it for the fluff. I like the idea of her tinkering around with chemicals (Craft[alchemy] boost from the variant multiclass) and being an all around skill monkey (disabling devices, linguistics, etc) and attacking from the shadows with precision spells (sneak attack damage on telekinetic projectile just sounds SO cool!) It looks rough on paper, but I don't think it will be nearly as much maintenance as I'm making it out to be. Her background and crunch are both up on this alias' profile page. ![]()
![]() Looks like I wasn't the only one who thought an arcane trickster might be a decent way to go for this party... Oh well, I'll still put my own spin on it all forward! Basically I am looking to take a more blasty route in combat for my arcane trickster, only coming into melee when I can get into the positioning for a guaranteed sneak attack (made a bit easier with the teleportation subschool focus). Vanishing into a sneak attack scorching ray is just the greatest cherry on top.
She is based around the Unchained Rogue rather than the standard rogue, but if you're not comfy with the Unchained sourcebook, it's not big deal for me to flop her over to the standard rogue. I'm going to look at taking out the TWF concept (no matter how cool I think it is), but its far too late to continue working out the finer details at this exact moment. I've also got to source check her still to filter what's from the books you've listed and what are from Paizo books outside that list (especially the spells). |
