And, as per my first post, the Bible very clearly makes it's case for slavery not being evil. Again, another corner case, but I think the historical precedent exists to say that the statement "All slavery is always evil" might be untrue; their might be exceptions.

Sorry but i fail the point of bring in a debate about slavery in the bible. Are you trying to start a religious discussion? In a RPG forum?

If so, i strongly suggest another forum for that kind of discussion.

Wouldn't the explosion from the first read rune erase the others, thereby setting them off as well?

I guess that depends how the DM understand the context. Maybe the enermy could be thrown away by the first explosion, preventing the damage from others.

or,

Yes. Everything happens at the same time. Which is fair since you expended all those spells that depends on such especific condition. Considering this, i could allow that interpretation. That's the part where the PCs creativity should be encouraged.

By "he" i mean the target.

Guess not. But once he reads the first one, the spell should detonate and prevents the reading of the other runes.

Bad Man: If I find written testament of the godess or of her brothers I want to be able to read it, even if SHE will not talk to me using that language.

I understand. All of this rely heavily in how your DM handles the matter. It's a scenario thing actually. If you feel that the character should be able to read, he should. Use the aklo suggestion as above, but, for me, that takes away a little bit of that 'special thing' that your character should have for being one of the 'pure chosen ones' that dont need that reading stuff...

I think i catch your flavor, but for a character who willing submit to such being, be able to understand his 'requests' should be something part of the mystery of his devotion.

This character shouldn't be able to understand his god in a verbal way. Just feel him. Feel his needs, thoughts, etc...

My suggestion is to skip the language. He is his cleric. His direct medium and he speaks with the voice of his god. He is his god's voice. And with the DM's help, this could happen even in a sincerely way.

My two cents. ;)

I respectfully don't concur.

On my table, the Bard is the star. If he wasn't there, all those "save or die" monsters abilities would have made already an epic TPK against the group.

I'll allow, but that depends on the kind of story i want to develop.

To me, it's a RP tool first and foremost.

I think you should build a Battletoads version on PF.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

What sort of service have I seen up to this point?

Inside assassination for the superiors, infiltration, sabotage, information retrieval, that sort of thing... That's nothing personal, it's all business...

Let's try this concept. His name is Airos Nowandi. He is an assassin and sentry removal specialist. He is that guy that his superiors turn to ask for "little jobs" and that's how he climbed the ladder.

Why am I joining the navy?

Killing is the main dish in Airos' family. As family of warriors, they saw the Empire as an opportunity for status and fortune. So you can say that's a family tradition to aid the Empire.

Where was I born and raised?

Where the Empire started? There.

Why am I a loyal citizen of the empire?

Because of family tradition, status and they pay my bills.

Am I racist or sexist?

No. But he fulfills his orders even if they have this kind of nature.

Do I have a particular hatred of the new Republic?

Not exactly. Actually he wants to protect his family legacy.

What sort of service have I seen up to this point?

I second Loup Blanc...

Droids are allowed?

This old problem.

The issue here is importing our modern, complicated notions of the words "Good" and "Evil" into a world where morality is a fully realized, divine or semi-divine force. In our world, good and evil are debatable. In Pathfinder, Good and Evil define your character in an objective sense.

You can certainly play DnD/Pathfinder "straight," which means you accept the moral precepts it lays down. Some creatures are, in fact, evil. Evil should be destroyed. This allows you to go about your campaign without wondering about these moral quandries. You kill evil things and take their stuff. A horrible way to exist in our world, certainly, but in Pathfinder, that makes you a hero, because evil is bad.

If you want to discard that notion entirely, and treat alignment as a moral code you aspire to (like in our world) rather than an inherent force that places a mark on your soul, go for it. If you enjoy the kind of dilemma you are facing right now, then by all means import all the moral/ethical BS from our world.

The important thing is you agree with the table about which version of the game you are playing. Never cross the streams. If the Paladin is going hardcore Gygaxian, vaguely racist genocide, and the Wizard is planning on clucking his tongue and demanding that the DM have him fall every five minutes nobody is going to have fun.

So, take five minutes before your next session and ask, OC, which kind of Pathfinder you want to play. Maybe your DM should just lay down the law on what good and evil mean, and go from there.

Best answer.

I don't want to sidetrack, but this is an issue that is certainly debatable (in fact, that's the point!), but is presented here as clear hard fact. This is simply not the case.

The following comes from the SRD page on alignment. It specifically discusses the issue of killing/sparing goblin babies and alignment.

** spoiler omitted **

My dwarf killed the goblin babies,...

So, the SRD states that if you believe that, by a random twisted logic, raping and killing the little bastards is an act of mercy you may do it and still being good.

That absolutely kills the idea of a moral system, doesn't?

Cannabialism (which in a fanatasy world means eating of the flesh/drink blood of a intelligent creature) [/b]: what about using the body parts of an intelligent creature ? Say a Dragon's hide for example. What about respectful and ritual cannibalism of the dead like we see in some RL societies ? Or when you have just nothing else available to eat for weeks ?

That discussion about cannibalism somehow reminded me about this brazillian tribe that cremates their deads and then mix their ashes in a kind of tea so they can always have their fathers and mothers spirit with them. I don't know if that kind of funeral cannibalism i can see as something innately evil

Oh, the link to the witch class, as required...

I loved all the premises. I would like to submit a human witch. Maybe with minor alterations, if you allow...

I would like if the devs decide to make a new edition. But i think they should wait and release everything that suits this edition. Done that, move on. I believe that would need, maybe, about 2 to 4 years? I dunno...

Also they could start to make some experiences with something like their own version of d20 modern. A modern d20 setting by paizo would rock. A different line, with different ideas, rules, etc...

Just throwing my coppers...

Great!!Good luck to everybody!!

I think that the shared spells are the best way to make this "impressive" approach to my Witch's familiar. I'll take that route while there isn't a "Familiar Companion" feat. I'll use Enlarge and maybe change to the Transformation Patron as Blueluck suggested. The Improved Familiar as Imp sounds cool too if i change the character background a little...

Thank you for all the answers.

Marthian wrote:

if it isn't pfs, ask if you could reflavor it with your gm.

Yeah, i guess it's the best solution. I didn't see nowhere mentioned that there is a feat that could do the trick...

Here's the quable: I was trying to select a familiar to my Witch. The thing is that i wanted a snake familiar. But a snake (viper) familiar has size Tiny. But for one scary Witch there is no fun to have such small snake (hum... that sounds so wrong...anyway...). So what to do? Try to turn the familiar into an Animal Companion(or, try to have the animal working as both). That way the viper could be bigger and scarier... But i want a legal solution without resorting to dips. Maybe a feat or something like that. Does anybody have a suggestion how we could do this?

Please!!Help a Witch have fun with his snake!!

Thanks

The background you gave is just fine. There is no need to go into the crunch part of your build just yet. As long as I have an idea where your character is coming from.

No problem. In the next couple of days i should have something ready in my profile for you to analyze.

... and just now i saw a mistake i made in my backstory... please, substitute the "monstruos white python" for "white viper". Sorry. :\

I'm interested but i never played PbP. I would build a Witch, probably CN. No archetypes. Just plain basic witch without nothing outside from your requirements. The question i have is if i can use the Dimensional Occultist patron provided by the Pathfinder Society Field Guide (The Dimensions patron provides the following bonus spells: 2nd—hold portal, 4th—rope trick, 6th—blink, 8th—dimensional anchor, 10th—lesser planar binding, 12th—planar binding, 14th—banishment, 16th—greater planar binding, 18th—gate).Also, must the character be posted by the deadline?

Here is the backstory: Gragos was a poor fellow son of the village idiot. He never met his mother. His life was a miserable succession of misfortunes until one day, while trying to fish in the river he got his leg stuck in a rock. Unfortunately, the river flow began to increase and started to drown Gragos. Then he saw this monstruos white python. It came swimming to him and said "The truth lies outside the horizon. In your dreams. Do you accept? If not, you will die...". Gragos closed his eyes and screamed: "Yes! I accept! Please don't let me die...!". Then his leg was released. Gragos went outside the river. The big snake started to follow Gragos everywhere. The snake started to show things to Gragos. Funny things. Things that are bigger than the common man knowledge. Now, Gragos, the son of the village idiot is dead. Now, he is Gragos, the witch from the forest. Gragos, the nightmare. Nobody calls his father idiot anymore. If does, the person always appears dead on the next morning. Snake bites. Gragos never asked this to the snake, but now, Gragos has respect. Gragos is happier now. But he needs money. The village started to get suspicious about Gragos. He moved. Now, he needs money. He needs a job. Something speaks in his mind while he sleeps. He needs to find something that he doesn't know. He needs to take care of his father. Where he can find someone to accompany him? He needs companions... To get money and to get well with his father... He needs appease the snake... Such is the gift of the Great Old Ones...

Once i watched this movie about Gandhi. A crying muslin came to him and said "Once, in a fit of rage i smashed the head of this hindu boy, now i fear i'm going to hell. What should i do?". Gandhi answered: "Yes you are going to hell. But i known one way to fool hell. You need to found another hindu boy that lost his parents. And you are going to raise him. But as a hindu, not muslin. Just then will you redeem yourself."

It was a long time and i didn't remember the movie very well but the essence was kind that.

How the baby came to your guard? Your character killed his parents? If so, then the just thing to do should be deliver the little guy to the nearest goblin village and hope that you wont have to face him on the field. If not (if you didn't killed them), why you shouldn't do that? It is because goblins are evil? Then a genocide on the goblin kind should be justifiable... but it isn't. Because they can overcome their natures, it isn't.

It's a tough question really. Sorry my english.

Thanks for the help.

Actually is a NPC build. I'm trying to make a Four Winds monk but i want something totally legal and using the Core, APG, UC e UM.

I intend to post the build so you guys could make suggestions (i'm really hoping that no PC of mine is reading any of this).

Don't underestimate Snake Style as an option too.

You can use your Sense Motive as your AC and smack people that miss.

My level 4 Monk has 21 Sense Motive. Thinking of changing his name from Sun Xiao to Mien Chang Hama.

Has 17 AC normally, but it's a great backup plan, and it works on ranged attacks too, though Crane Wing all the way for melee attacks.

That's a good one. Maybe with an item to raise the skill? That would be sweet! :D

Thank you so much for the quick answers. I'm still choosing among all the given options. ;)

How would you build a high AC Monk?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hello everybody,

I'm running a homebrew scenario where the PC joined a multinational group called "The Terminators". Their focus is to erradicate all the menaces towards the "allied nations" (which is composed of the humans, dwarves and elvish kingdoms). Their enemies usually are Elder Gods cultists and the Necromancers Kings (necromancy isn't exactly forbidden, but it's use is restricted to PCs. There's other restrictions like summoning and the craft of golens).

This enemy mysterious party is composed of very tough and veteran "terminators". They are traitors to the group but they didn't joined the Elder Gods or the Necromancers. They are going after some sort of ritual that will actually control an Elder God aspect (that is, in the scenario, much more powerful than the 'normal' gods). What they don't know is that the "Wizard" that leads the party actually is a Witch (that class, by default, is for those corrupted by the Elder Gods voluntarialy)and the ritual actually does bring control over an Elder God... but just to another Elder God. And with the result of finally bringing the Apocalipse.

Well here is some guidelines:

- They are 6 guys.
- Everbody is 15 level. The Witch is 17.
- Their healer is a Druid (no Oracles or Clerics for scenario reasons).
- They have full money for their correspondent level.
- There is a Four Winds monk that enchanted his hands for Vorpal (i understand that the monk hands can be enchanted like a mastercraft weapon).
- I do allow the character choose any archetype substituition feature without taking the full archetype (i let the players do the same).
- Firearms exists but the advanced ones don't.
- No Paladins for sure, even through they don't need to be evil.

There may be something i forgot... but let's go. If there is any question, i'll answer with the best of my possibilities.

p.s.: Sorry my english. I'm not from a english-speaking country.
