Hoping for a book focused on Occultism. With Spirits having closer ties to occultism I'd like to see the Shaman class rebranded as a spirit binder with occult casting.

My order seems to be stuck in limbo as it's been sitting at "orginally expected to ship in 1 to 5 days" for almost a week now. Would like to see the transaction be authorized to get those beautiful pdf's sooner than later. Thank you for your time.

Hello all, I am building a Rot Warden Druid for a new campaign and was pretty let down by the hurdles vermin animal companions have to deal with.

Not only do Vermin companions have zero feats until 4th level with a boost to Int; they need to be 12th level minimum to unlock feats they are physically capable of with GM permission. Most animal companions have 9 different item slots for magic items, vermin have 2.

Ultimately is it better for me to go with the ISMC Vermin Domain? Would it be worth taking the animal companion if I gave up my human bonus feat to get the +2 Int from 'Eye for Talent'? If so, which of the vermin companions are a good option if I plan to wildshape often?

Thanks for any advice.

I can't say whether they meant to have Tusked work at -5 with other natural attacks, but that's how they worded it. That's a specific exception to the general rules, though; normally, a bite would only be secondary (-5) when combined with iterative attacks.

I'm currently playing a half orc goliath druid. I have the tusked race trait for a secondary bite attack and the aspect of the beast feat for primary claws. However if I wildshape into a troll my bite attack becomes primary. The Digmaul is for a back up character, our GM is ruthless.

It's a custom companion; you could always tweak it a bit. If it favors the tail attack, you could make it a primary and maybe make the claws or bite secondary if you think not doing so would be imbalanced.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm just keeping it as true to the Digmaul's stat block as possible. It was more of a question on how secondary natural attacks work outside of full attacks.

In the case of the half-orc's race trait, tusked, it specifies that the attack takes a -5 during a full attack even when used with other natural attacks; but is considered a primary attack in a standard action.

It'd be a secondary attack. If the digmaul only had the tail attack (or multiple tail attacks), then it could make the attack as a primary attack.

I've been tempted to house rule that any single natural attack is a primary attack, but there are likely knock-on effects that I haven't considered. Plus, most creatures with both primary and secondary attacks would prefer to use the primary given the choice.

Thank you, I could never find a definitive answer on the matter. It would be nice to have a full bab trip combat maneuver as an opener but I suppose that's the problem. The +6 bonus helps negate the penalty after you get multiattack and try to trip something large

After reading about the Digmaul I was excited it was added as an animal companion but then swiftly disappointed in its stats barely matching the creature's stat block. It was as if someone was told it was "like the small cat with a tail attack" and they did no research. With the permission of my DM I have altered the animal companion's stats as a silvercat variant. Please let me know what you think of the changes and how you might improve upon them. The idea was to be stronger than the small cat but on par or weaker than the big cat:

Silvercat Digmaul
Size: Small. Speed: 30ft Climb 20ft
AC: +1 Natrual Armor. Attacks: Bite (1d4) 2 Claws (1d3) Tail (1d3)
Stats: Str 12 Dex 21 Con 13 Int 2 Wis 12 Cha 6
Special Qualities: Ball tail (bludgeoning only, +6 bonus), Lowlight vision, Scent

7th level
Size: Medium. AC: +2 Natural Armor
Attacks: Bite (1d6) 2 Claws (1d4) Tail (1d4)
Stats: Str +6 Dex -2 Con +4

My last question is on secondary attacks and standard actions. If the digmaul where to charge and make a single attack, could it use its tail attack as a primary since it is the only attack it makes that round? Or does having a primary attack available prevent that?

Hey everyone, I got an idea for a dread knight themed dhamphir with a horse companion but making it a bit more themematic. I was planing on adding the vampiric companion feat but I am misunderstanding the undead part of it relating to it's con score.

Is it switched to the lower charisma and just a penalty or is it treated similar to the deathtouched animal archetype in that it only counts as undead for other effects? Does the feat stack with this archetype? If I made a divine hunter could I add the fiendish template to one or both options? Thanks for any help you come up with!

I always thought of Rangers as nature-Paladins (Ranger is to Druid as Paladin is to Cleric).

There are certain archetypes that might fit this better, but even the base Ranger in the core rule book can swap out their Bonded Animal for a Companion Bond.

That's kind of my back up plan, I was a bit disappointed that wearing heavy armor ruins combat style feats even if I had to take a feat to get it. I'm also not very fond of the companion bond, so I would probably take divine tracker to get blessings instead.

Hey everyone, I'm currently trying to make a Paladin type character who adheres to the druids way of thinking without multiclassing (unless it's a fitting prestige class). The basic idea of the character is a coldborn skinwalker who uses an earthbreaker.
I am looking for any classes, archetypes or feats that might make this work. The main things I want to have include: at least medium armor (heavy preferred) no wildshape, and no animal companion or familiar. There is the horned warden Paladin archetype but I would like other people's opinion on it before I run it by my GM. Thanks for any advice :)

That's what I was worried about, haven't had time to calculate feats. I might drop pain taster to a non gestalt game to play some other time as the whip feats alone make it hard to complete even as a fighter or ranger.

Monster Tactician is perfect for what I asked however so thanks again. :)

Wow that works extremely well thank you! Would you still keep pain taster as the other class?

This is just a fun idea I have for an upcoming gestalt game, but I want to semi optimize this build while keeping with the theme of a spider worshiping drow slaver.

Basically I want to combine a class that uses either summon nature's ally or summon monster with the spider summoner feat with a martial whip build.

So far I'm leaning towards fighter into pain taster with the required whip feats and I'm allowed to take the taskmaster feat for hobgoblin which I will use on my summons.

Any recommendations for the caster class or archetypes I may have missed? Any feats I should keep in mind? All advice is appreciated!

I forgot to add I'm taking the carnivorous flower companion for flanks and rage. It fits the character very well. As for summon nature's ally, there is a feat to add more plant based summons that I will take as well.

Well, when I say tree hugging, I mean psychotic plant fey. The idea is to make a small potent caster with some versatility.
To that end I have combined the druid and the summoner. As for archetypes I'm going treesinger (house ruled for non elves in the campaign) and a mix between the synthesist and wildcaller (the non-elf one, with plants) also allowed as I will gain the plant type as well when merged.
The idea is to gain multiple natural attacks and perfect flight with flyby. While still having a vast arsenal of control and buff/debuff spells.
I appreciate any advice you have to share always!

Hey everyone, so rather than try reviving our first campaign we are starting over with a slightly different group in the the same setting. That being said I'm not quite over my first real character and would like to create his near identical twin.
The race is a grippli and I really like the idea of trying a monk this time as my original character was a stone shaman who mostly handled support. So far I noticed that flowing monk and monk of the iron Mountain stack, as for flavor iron Mountain fits with the theme of stone for the tribe and flowing monk can be seen as being slippery :)
I need help with suggestions for feats and possible tactics if you wouldnt mind taking the time to share your thoughts, thank you!

Thanks for the replies everyone!

We're not too worried about anyone overshadowing another player as everyone is either a thematic build or our one player who rolls everything randomly.

Seems we are adding spheres of power and I definitely want to try one of the high caster classes it adds.

Pretty simple, just looking for ideas to build a character focused on buffing and blowing stuff up from the back. The party has a strength/charisma front liner and a dex/intellect rogueish type, so I am just trying to diversify and go Wisdom caster because I can.

I would like shaman or druid to be one of the classes but I need your help finding a combination that is fun to play and works well

We are able to use just about all 3rd party on the Paizo site and Thunderscape: World of Aden.

Thank you for any suggestions.
