Sorry to see the game go, it's been a lot of fun. Thanks for allowing me to be part of the story. Sometimes real life just takes over. Hope to game with you all again in a galaxy not too far away. :)

Aristi looks back at Kara, shrugs. "What? What'd I say?"

The Bothan sets the ship down with Juviest's help. "We might want to refuel now, while we can." He looks over at Djebelle. "If you know this Dralin, looks like you're up. Kara sounds like she has some knowledge of this Steel Sky Guild, and I might have some old business contacts in the area. Anyone want to stay with the ship?" He watches Djebelle appraisingly - she'd been very quiet on the journey here. Guess that crystal thing gave her a lot to think about. Come to think of it, the whole crew had kept pretty quiet. Though he thought he could still hear Thrask thrashing the old repulsor sled.

"Sounds like a good lead. Do we have a strategy for how we want to approach this? Are we just sounding him out? Are we using our own funds to purchase weapons? Sounded like the rebels on Hoth were willing to pay us for whatever we can acquire. What funds then do we have to work with?"

Aristi scratches his chin for a few moments, considering. "What's the Imperial presence on Cloud City? Might they have an arms dump that we could raid? We could supplement whatever we could purchase from Starwind."

Aristi offers to help with locating arms dealers - "I'll see if I can use the ship's computer to access the HoloNet. I have some business contacts in the Greater Javin, they might be able to furnish us with some names or even introductions."

Yeah it seemed there were two leads, one to pick up arms from Bespin, another to try to lure Imperial forces patrolling near Hoth off the scent. I agree we should start with those leads, but while we're working towards those missions there's no harm keeping an eye out for possible Force-using mentors - apparently there are Force users all over the galaxy. ;)

"Yeah, it's probably a silly idea raiding a museum. Don't worry, something will turn up. Bound to be something lost out there on the reaches of the Outer Rim."

Aristi helps the veteran Sullustan to his bunk before heading back to the cockpit.

Aristi's ears flatten and his fur frizzes as he considers Aneira's words about the terrible things that might happen if someone were to try to sell one of those lightsaber crystals. "Okay, message received! Bad things happen to those who have one of those crystals. You sure you want to keep it?"

His fur settles as he turns back to Juviest, and Aristi leans back in the seat. "Coordinates are set for Bespin and we're in hyperspace at the moment, so we've got time until the controls need checked again."

I'm going on the assumption that - hey, Han Solo kicks back while the Millenium Falcon's in hyperspace, so things must be pretty stable. Still, with Aristi's Astrogation roll, anything could happen.

The Bothan's quiet for a moment, listening to Djebelle and Aneira discuss making lightsabers. Quietly, he throws out, "What about a museum? If Jedi really did exist, but the Empire wiped them out, wouldn't they have a museum exhibit or something about it? I mean, the Emperor likes celebrating his triumphs. Maybe they've got a couple we could steal on Imperial Center or somewhere."

Aneira's words about the Jedi sink in. "Well. This crew gets more and more interesting!" He slides into a seat across from Juviest, takes the half-empty bottle from the Sullustan's hands. He takes a curious sniff, then knocks back a swig before passing the bottle back. Leaning back, Aristi relaxes.

"So I've set the coordinates for Bespin. That is where we were going next, right? To try to cadge some weapons for the rebels? if not we can set a new course. So, how much do you think one of those crystal thingies would be worth?"

Astrogation check - 1 failure, 3 advantage; seems like, Aristi thinks he's set the coordinates for Bespin...

Aristi's eyes widen in shock at Djebelle's tears. His fur frazzled as he clasps hands to his head. "Whoa! Crystals! Well, that's good . . . right?" He looks confused, Djebelle's emotional state doesn't seem to match her news. He scratches an ear, then adds "What's a lightsaber?"

Awesome, catching up on the posts is a joy. And I'd agree with OGGM, I think Thrask is eloquent in his own way, certainly brings the Scorekeeper to life.

A few moments longer...and Aristi shifts the ship into hyperspace. Autopilot on, he wandered back to see the rest of the team. His fur twitched, feeling tension thick in the air. All the same, he enters, sees most of the crew grouped in the rec area.

The Bothan loops his hands behind his head, relaxed. "Whew!" he says with a wink. "That was a toughie! Things were looking grim, but hey a few shots of the ol' lascannons, those things weren't so tough. No need to thank me, just glad I could lend a hand." He looks around at Aneira and Djebelle, only slowly taking clocking that they seem to be heading for the hold with Thrask. "So, what was in those caves, anyway?"

"Don't need any more encouragement than that! Strap in, we're airborne!" Aristi levers the thrust for the repulsors, sending Kessel's Folly clawing for altitude. The big beast and its packmates disappear to specks as the ship shoots through the atmosphere.

Aristi stares at the battle between Thrask and the mother monster in disbelief. There's no way he'd be able to use the ship's weapons to blast into that situation without obliterating everyone's reptilian friend.

He rushes back down the corridor to the cockpit. The crew would be wanting to leave, ASAP.

Move from gun turret to cockpit, take strain to use two maneuvers if necessary. Start prepping ship for flight.

"Get on the ship already!" Aristi growls after hearing that loud shriek. He strains to look out the viewport, but can't get a view of what was making that noise. He doesn't like the look of the masses of creatures streaming down the cliff walls. He grips the controls, waiting for the creatures to come into range and wondering how quickly he can get the engines warmed for take-off.

DM Xyro:

What's the terrain like between the ship's current position and where the characters currently are, or the cave entrances? Wondering if I can land nearer and pick them up. I'll probably move back up to the cockpit.

Ooh, don't tell me! I flubbed my chance to see it when it first came out, but I'm hoping for another chance this weekend. Watching Ep 4 afterwards sounds like a great idea.

Aristi sends up a prayer of thanks to the silent ones as he sees Kara and Juviest running back to the Kessel's Folly, Thrask not far away as he draws a vibrosword to challenge the monsters. And there's more of them. Aristi swings the turret over and squeezes off a shot towards the creatures emerging around the cliff. Hopefully that will keep them at bay for a few minutes. He ought to be warming up the engines for liftoff, but he decides to stay put until everyone is onboard.

Gunnery check - 2 Successes 6 + 2 = 8/80 points damage.

Excellent roll, LT! I was tempted to use your upgrade from the Triumph, but save it for those of you actually in combat. Or Aneira and Djebelle who will have to run the gauntlet to get back to the ship.

Aristi keeps blasting away with the laser, surprised to have been able to hit one of the creatures with the ship's weapon. They were a lot smaller than trying to hit another starship. As he blasts away, he spares a glance at the readouts. He'd never given the laser proper time to warm up properly, and it was putting strain on the ship's systems. Too late now, he thinks as he keeps blasting away.

Yes assuming I manage to hit anything the starship damage would be a whole magnitude more damage. I forgot to mention that in the post. And yeah I reckon the difficulty should be higher, not knowing the silhouette of the creatures I just guessed and it seemed the convention for this campaign is to roll two difficulty unless specified otherwise and if needed GM Xyro would roll the difference. I'm not sure whether Aristi could hit the broadside of a barn but as Thrask says I'm hoping just shooting at them will drive them off or prove enough of a distraction. More than the blaring music did, I think. Just trying to be helpful. :)

Oops, really thought I'd have lots of opportunities for posts last week, but things didn't turn out as expected. Just catching up yesterday and today.

DM Xyro:

Aristi flings himself at the controls, modulating the speakers and hurriedly trying to find sound files. Finally he punches the button for the external speakers and blaring, reedy voices thunder out in stereo. Emurrian opera. "Blast! Didn't mean to play that one!" Aristi gives up on this ropy plan and instead heads for the turret. Kara and Juviest seemed to be holding their own, but he was determined to help in some way.

Ok I'll give it a try with the music. If I can use one of the destiny points to boost an ability die up to a proficiency die.
Intellect check - 3 Failures, 1 Advantage Ooh, tough luck. I'll use the advantage to gain extra movement, to try to get to the turret more quickly.

Just in case I don't get an opportunity to check in for a few days, if I can make a roll for my next action. My intention is to run to the dorsal turret and target the nearest beast to try to keep them away from the others.

Gunnery check - 2 Success, 1 Threat - damage 6 + 2

Aristi reaches the turret and quickly fires up the controls. The laser sight comes up and he squeezes off a shot at the nearest creature.

Hi GM, just wanted to make clear, as these blips are appearing from the rocky background, are they visible from the ship, or still underground? Just wondered whether they were something I could try targeting with ship's weapons. Apart from that, I'm thinking of leaving the ship to go help but not sure how much I'll actually to be able to contribute. I'll maybe need to come up with a Plan C.

Aristi's eyes go wide as looks at the sensor screen. "Whoa! Kara, Juviest! Get out of there quick! I see ten contacts bearing down on you, they don't look like dumb animals either." The Bothan casts about the cockpit, looking for ideas how help the others. His eyes come to rest on the external comms...

DM Xyro:

One last question! If Aristi tries to rig the comms so that they blare out loud music or something to try to lure the bogeys away from the others and towards the ship, would you ask for a Computers check or Deception check? Would you require a destiny pool point to confirm that we had suitable audio files loaded into the ship's records?

"Roger that, Kara. These rocks are making for hard work for the sensors, it's hard to get a fix on everyone. I'll keep engines prepped in case we need to get out of here quick." He keeps scanning the sensor systems to try to make some sense of the situation outside.

Aristi observes Kara. Outwardly, she seems utterly calm. Aristi shakes his shaggy head as he turns back to the controls, trying to boost and refine the sensors. "I'm going to see if I can boost the sensor system to track everyone's progress within the cave." As the systems are recalibrating, he also works away with the comms. "Juviest? Thrask? Aneira? You reading? I'll try to track your position, so we can find you if something untoward happens."

Computers check to rig sensors to track members of the party within the structure. - 2 Success, 2 Threat

Aristi looks up from the ship's controls to see much of the group heading off. "Uh, guys? Do you really want to go in there?" The Bothan suddenly realizes he's alone. With Kara. Gulp.

From the sound of it I'm assuming that Aristi's the only actually in the ship at the moment, but I reckon he can see the group from the viewports, heading away.

Hope your family's feeling better soon GM.

Aristi goggles at the others. "Force? Jedi? I thought all that was a myth!" Just when I thought I was getting to know this crew! He scowls a bit as he mulls over all the implications of this information, but in the end decides to support Djebelle out there on the surface facing whatever it was she needed to face. However, her insistence on facing this alone and a powerful, physical urge to stay away from this place causes him to hold back.

"Hmm, maybe I'll stay by here with the ship. I'll keep checking the scopes for any surprises." He busies himself with gearing up the ship for a detailed sensor sweep of the area.

Anyone watch the Rebels animated series? My daughter and I enjoy it, and it was a real treat to see Grand Admiral Thrawn make an appearance in a recent episode. It made me wonder just how widespread Chiss were in the galaxy these days - I know all the old novels have been nixed but they seemed to indicate that apart from Thrawn (and Kara!) they were all but unknown in the galaxy beyond their home space.

Aristi helps Juviest plot the mystery coordinates into the navicomputer. He marvelled at the interesting situations this crew seemed to find themselves in. The Bothan offered to take a turn at the helm as the ship jumped to hyperspace, while the rest of the crew was busy settling in.

Drat, missed the chance to chip in with an Astrogate check. Were we able to get our astromech droid seen to?

It sounded like we were heading to Bespin first on the way to Triton.

Aristi follows the banter, while also mulling over the bits of information Lieutenant Durame had mentioned. When there's a lull, he makes sure to put in a good word about Proc Shmo of Nar Shaddaa. He'd been a tough negotiator, and the Bothan had said he'd try to drum up some more business from the rebels for him.

From out of nowhere, Aristi snorts and laughs out loud. "Wouldn't it be funny if we could make those ISB officers think the rebels were building a base somewhere else? Would Bespin be too close?"

I'm happy to pursue any of those hooks. I was thinking if we went to Bespin to hunt down this gunfarmer and get weapons for the rebels, we could try to plant false leads to make the ISB think the rebel base was on Bespin or elsewhere. And so, we could kill two birds with one stone. But thinking further, Bespin might be a bit too close to home - any ideas for somewhere else?

Its really only important if a discussion breaks out based on Kara's last comments. What would everyone know? The Alliance would have one view, the Empire another. I can see the Empire propaganda machine kicking in as well, both for the Alderaan and Death Star incidents. I'll explore that if anyone challenges her on her views.

Good questions. Would knowledge have fuelled speculation about other death star-type weapons of mass destruction out there in the galaxy? Would the families of those serving aboard the Death Star have risked suing the government for compensation for their deaths? Or maybe they received posthumous decorations? It would be fun to see all the possibilities.

Aristi's comments comments are based on his own family's collusion with the status quo. Privately they may have no love for the Empire, but nor are they willing to upset things by taking a stand.

Aristi leans back in his chair. "Kara's right. A lot of people, as long as they are making dosh, don't care who's in charge. If Palpatine's order has provided stability and structure, most citizens won't question the fact that they are living under a despotic government." He surprises himself with the vehemence and rancor in his voice. It wasn't long ago that the Bothan was helping his family prosper under the Empire's governance.

Aristi just looks on, not really understanding all of the military talk. But the ISB captain, Thalo Syrus? Had he heard of this guy before? The Bothan rattles his brain trying to remember...but nope. No clue.

Aristi pulls his robes closer. "Yes, something warmer sounds like a great idea!" He checks to make sure the freighter's in good hands before following after Aneira and Djebelle.

Aristi flicks a glance over at Juviest as he tries to help keep the ship on a steady course. "Take them down? I'm just happy no one's actually shooting at us. It makes for a change from what I've come to expect with you all." He's feeling colder already - couldn't be the atmosphere, at least not yet. Either it was his imagination or the environmental controls on this crate were out of whack.

Working with Juviest to keep the Folly on a casual course, Aristi plugs in the datachip given him by Auren Fallon. "Let's see, I don't recall any details about who we're meeting at the other end of this. I just figured they'd be the only folks on this rock!" He checks the chip for any details that might help them now.

"Wow, this looks like a real snowball of a place. Let's see if we can find where to set down. Sorry Aneira, no idea what we're going to find. Seems to be a building project of some kind, though. Something big, it's a lot of communications wiring we're hauling."

Aww, we're just killing time while we're transiting hyperspace. Even if it isn't doable, it gives us spacers something to talk about. Though I'm not liking they way Thrask keeps eyeing up my pelt... ;)

Aristi eyes up the sidearm strapped to Aneira's thigh. "Right. Duck, cover, pack a mean punch, got it thanks!"

"Duck, and cover. I guess I can do that." Aristi still wishes he could contribute something more...substantial to the group. He heads back to his quarters and starts doing press-ups.

It's a long way to Hoth. Aristi spends the time mucking in with Juviest to try to get the droid up to spec. He also asks Kara and Thrask for help with combat training. "I know I'm not much of a fighter, but if I'm going to fit in with this outfit I'd better try to improve my combat skills. More to the point, we seem to attract trouble. I don't want to end up dead. Will you help?"

Aristi observes Kara and Djebelle's manic glee over the food with good humor. Humans, they sure knew how to have fun. He longed to join them, but his fur was still crawling - time to get out of here.

Turning back to the droid, he leads it over to a place where it can be made secure for lift-off. "My Binary's a bit rusty, but we'll get there. We'll be glad to have your help with navigation, you can help me plot our course once we get going in a few minutes."

The Bothan makes one last check that the cargo is secure, everyone seems happy, and he joins Juviest beside the ramp. "We're all set to go when you are. If you're flying this leg, I'll help with the astrogation. They delivered that navigation droid, I think it may need some work but hopefully it'll help us where we're going. Once we're in hyperspace I'll sit down to see what kind of work it's going to need."

Once the Folly is underway, Aristi works with Juviest and R2 to plot a course. I'll make an Astrogate roll just now to keep things moving, but happy for any assist. I reckon Hoth could be a tricky kind of place to try to find.

Astrogation check : 2 Proficiency dice + 2 Difficulty dice = 1 Success, 2 Advantage, 3 Threat

"Thanks for the encouragement Juviest. It was a team effort. Let's set course. For this Hoth place and get this cargo delivered. Doesn't sound like any of us want to stick around here."

Aristi looks the new astromech over, giving it a pat. "Hi there, little guy. What's your designation?" With the cursory glance he starts mentally tallying the parts needed to get the droid up to spec.

Aristi keeps a paw draped around Proc Shmo like they are old friends, as he goes through the process of transferring payment and arranging collection of the cargo. "Well, it's been great working with you Proc. I'll keep my word and tell our employers how helpful you've been. Hopefully we'll be able to work together again soon."

The deal done, Aristi explains through his ear piece to the rest of the team what's gone down, and that we can return to the Kessel's Folly. He heads out with Juviest and Djebelle, as they've obviously been seen together. He's not sure how the others will follow suit, but he's tempted to give a positive thumbs up to the Lieutenant.

Nar Shadaa is still creeping him out something terrible, so he's keen to head back to the ship before trouble finds them.

People please don't take it the wrong way when I push us as players to move the story. I enjoy this game and the group we have. But as a GM, I believe players have just as much responsibility as the GM to move the story. To that end,
1) we need to post regularly.
2) we need to try to stay together as much as possible, because separate groups make for separate threads for the GM to tie up, and that slows it down.
3) If you have to go off somewhere (ala Thrask and myself by the door), then state what your intent is so that DM Xyro can 'ignore' you as needed. I believe Thrask and I understand this isn't our moment to shine, so we are standing here looking mean while you guys talk.
4) anything else we can do to make it easier on Xyro is not good, but essential.
