As a GM, I really like a narrative- and roleplay-heavy gaming style, so I do everything I can to better immerse my players more into the game and away from the drudgery of work, table-searching or higher math. Besides visual cues and props, I tend to use a lot of soundtracks and ambient music, and am always on the lookout for less-recognizable background music, such as the CD's offered by Dronolan's Tower, which I very much liked. After listening to the samples provided here, I took a chance on a couple of them, including Forest Journey, and Wow, was I impressed! This particular MP3 reminds me of some New Age/World Music I've bought (like, say, David Arkenstone). It's understated and subtle music, with a good mix of flowing melody to the ambient music and background noises... in my personal opinion, the whole piece provides a nice mindset for a fairy-tale or adventuring journey through a mysterious forest, with harp strings and background chorale hinting of long-ago glories.
As the description suggests, the MP3 loops well, making it easy to set on single-repeat and play for the entirety of a party's journey. The price of the MP3 is all right, too, as is the ability to listen to samples and purchase only the MP3's I may desire, rather than making a blanket purchase of an entire $15-25 CD for that "one right sound" for my campaign or night's roleplaying. The only nitpick I can find about the Forest Journey was the same I could point about all the Sonic Legends MP3's I've purchased here... not all the Meta information is embedded into the MP3, making it a little difficult to find when searching by artist, album, or genre if you have a big portable MP3 library and don't remember the titles right offhand.
But that's really a small nit, and can be remedied in Windows Media Player or a host of other applications before it migrates to your MP3 Player of Choice. Take a couple seconds out and listen to the sample, and if you like it, you will almost certainly like the entire MP3, and may very well like others from Sonic Legends. I know I have.
