Return of the Sewer Dragons

5/5

This scenario uses the chase and influence system, both of which are great challenges with low stress and moderate difficulty.
The dinner party in particular is one of the best influence systems I have seen. The problem with influencing a single NPC is that the player tends to have little material or reason to actively role-play, and often just rolls the dice along the way. However, I can't help but praise this scenario for making it easy to influence with pre-defined event actions for each round, while still providing material for role-playing.
Above all, the ability to revisit an old restaurant is a nice touch that honors the legacy of the past.

The chase is also challenging while maintaining the right amount of tension. It is important that the scaling does not unnecessarily increase the number of points needed or make it too difficult.

From a narrative point of view, it would have been better if the scene of the confrontation with Tok was not a normal encounter, but rather an obstacle breakthrough for persuasion or a technical alchemical contest. His arguments are a bit weak, but I wish they had brought out the charm of his serious concern for the tribe.

All in all, it's a great story-driven scenario with a lot of variety. Don't expect much in the way of intensity of the encounters.

I would like to see it written in a more organized manner.

4/5

This scenario was held twice.
In fact, this scenario is riddled with problems. The datablocks are strange, and some of the names of certain creatures are confusing because they have been used as they were called in Starfinder.
And the strangest part is that 80% of the text depicted in the background of the adventure is not disclosed to the players. Even then, the odd attempts to hint at their existence can cause players to be distracted by parts of the story that have nothing to do with the scenario at all. So I created a scene at the beginning and had the mysterious villain talk about all the parts that were not disclosed. This way, the background of the scenario was explained and the game could be played smoothly.

I don't want to say too much, but the scenario is poorly written. The author's knowledge and love of the Pathfinder world is evident, and while the past in 1e may not need to be explained at every turn, I wish he would have at least made an effort to make the NPCs with whom we will have the most to do with this time around more appealing. I had no idea who he was from the text in the scenario, so I dug back to the paizo blog and found one article. It turns out that this article is apparently one of the reasons for the uproar over this scenario, but I wish they would at least link to the sales page. I'll put it up here instead!

In conclusion, I had to add and quote sentences to supplement a significant amount of dialogue and description when playing this scenario. I had to put more effort into this scenario than I usually do in association scenarios, because I knew that the players who played this scenario would not enjoy it.

Without making it a poorly Repeatable scenario, so .... I think it would have been better to build the story around only the old summoner. The other two groups have too weak a reason to attack, and it is strange that there is not a single explanation or judgment to recall knowledge about their religious beliefs and doctrines, especially with regard to the cult group.

However, it was a fun scenario to introduce the local customs to the newcomers to the session as well as to the participants. I would give the author a rating of 4, because a few lines of description necessary for the scenario would have made it much better, and I hope the author will continue to improve it in the future.

The amazing adventures of bloodcove

5/5

I recently GM'd this scenario.

It is a new experience to take on a job from the Aspis Consortium, a villain I have missed.
I had a lot of fun explaining Bloodcove, where the story takes place, as well as the contents of the Source book as more information is available in the Mwangi Expance.I particularly liked the culinary commentary, so I inserted a scene of dinner at the market at night before meeting the client at the bar.

The NPCs are also fascinating and I hope they will appear somewhere in the future as new Aspis Consortium characters!

The first encounter took the Barbarian down in one turn, but it was generally a nice, balanced encounter; an enemy with a reasonable AC and high power and HP is a creature that both PL and GM can have fun beating up on.

The final encounter is also well situational, but a bit too complicated in some areas to do.
I think that increasing the number of skills that can be used to disable the device by one or two would be just fine, as it would give more options. And the barrels could have been interesting with the ability to punch additional barrels after they are no longer spraying oil.

Overall it was a great adventure. I would love to see the author write other scenarios!

Pathfinder : Kukuha and the Birth of Three gates lodge!!

5/5

I am proud to say that I was probably the first Japanese to run this scenario, and it was great.

long sentence:

I love paizo's oriental scenarios, the tragedy of the chase in The Haunting of Hinojai, the Akira Kurosawa vibe from Red Harvest, the Clash in Kaimuko Wood where I participated as a blind Aasimar Paladin... (I never thought such a coincidence would happen!)

In the 2nd edition, I had a great time improvising and incorporating the Kingdom of Zao setting into the scenario in the undead route of Lost on the Spirit Road.

As for this scenario, which is the main topic... As soon as I read it, I knew it was a combination of Princess Mononoke and Doraemon : Nobita and the Birth of Japan!

Role-playing Masuhei, an oyster fisherman and retired Pathfinder, was a joy. sakakabe is a place where everyone knows Amara Li's favorite restaurant, Kiniro Kyomai, but the moment players learned that the local specialty is oysters, they started talking about eating oyster dishes after their adventure.

The main stage of the adventure, kayajima, is named after Kayanohime in Japanese mythology, which is also called Nozuchikami, or wild spirit. Kayanohime is also called Nozuchikami, or Wild Spirit, and her husband is called Ooyamatsumi, or Kami, originally a mountain god, but with deep ties to the sea, as his head office is located on an island. For these reasons, I thought the name "Kayajima" was an appropriate placement.

As has been said in previous reviews, yes. Our playgroup had played Devil at the Crossroads just before, so our first encounter was exactly the same. But the situation itself, fighting a wild boar in the woods, contributed to incorporating the atmosphere of the motif of this scenario.

The interaction with Kukuha, my new friend, is also excellent. She is an expert in ley lines, and the scene where she sets up the warding in the final battle was a lot of fun. I hope you will continue to publish scenarios where we interact with her in new lodges in the future. Just a map to give us a bird's eye view of the entire Kayajima would have been perfect.

The part where they go to the Forest's Heart Gate was totally Princess Mononoke. The interaction with Kodama is fun, hilarious, and the final scene is touching.

Aojimitsu, whom you meet at the Wrathful Tide Gate, was adored by the players due to the illustrations and his personality.
He is like Dorako in Draemon.

At Soruseiji Peak, the decision to cross the bridge seemed a bit redundant. It might break the tempo of the game, so you need to be careful. Griffon, who is to be saved from WIND MALEVOLENT (kamaitachi) here, is in Doraemon's position of Guri!
When we played, there was an ORACLE of TSUUKIYO, so she placed the diamonds at the top shrine.

The final battle with KAYAJIMA GUARDIAN DOGU, when using Ley Line Surge, I played a clip of the scene where Tsuchidama releases the shockwave in Doraemon:Nobita and the Birth of Japan. The scene was greatly enhanced by the island creatures coming to join the fight... The encounter ended earlier than expected due to a series of critical hits by the players. Completely bad dice roll! Thanks to that, the encounter ended before Aojimitsu came to join in and he sulked: .... That's cute, though!

When the adventure was over, I played the ending music for Nobita and the Birth of Japan, and the PCs enjoyed oysters at Sakakabe with Masuhei as promised, only a little disappointed that Kukuha stayed on the island and could not eat oysters with them.

This scenario was a wonderful adventure, the atmosphere, setting, and encounters were all exciting, and I can't wait for Minkai's setting book in 2e! Biggest kudos to the author, Adrian Ng. Thank you!

Expectations for the New Season!

5/5

I played this scenario as GM.
I haven't played the 3rd season scenario at all, but my players and I couldn't hide our excitement at the reappearance of the evil characters from 1st edition. This is a pleasant surprise.

To be honest, there may be a problem with the illustration of one NPC, but I hope there will be an improvement in this regard as many voices have been raised on this point.

This scenario is successful enough as an intro to the 4th season. At least the players in my session couldn't wait to play the next scenario.
I do think that the investigation part is indeed difficult to replay because the items available in certain parts of the game are too powerful. But the items are reasonable considering the origin and nature of this Vault, and not a bad reward for a successful decision. This is my impression after a session with six 1st level characters, so I don't know what will happen with other level adjustments. I felt that at least the encounters were appropriate when dealing with beginners.

I have great expectations for how the new friends I have met in the Vault and the magic items I have found will play a part in the future. The Year of boundless Wonders Begins!
