Interesting rules lawyering discussion happened in a game the other day.
Let's say you are on a cliff next to water and there is a straight drop. You are engaged with a creature or player with Attack of Opportunity. Can you take a Step into open air, and fall into the water to prevent an attack of opportunity?
Secondly if you can, then can you use a swim move or move if you have a swim speed?
------------------
Similar scenario If it is true you can Step and fall to avoid AoO: Assume you have a fly speed. Can you step off the cliff. Fall, and then fly?
------------------
One of the things we were unsure of is if an "Open Space" is considered Difficult Terrain.

I know right? Quickly setting the stage: a BBEG is standing toe to toe with a fighter. The fighter swings with their sonic sword and crits. Rolls are made the BBEG is deafened... permanently. Then before the BBEG could retaliate they are blinded by a caster. This is a two parter.
1. So if the fighter is grabbed or otherwise flatfooted to BBEG would BBEG get sneak attack damage? I think this question equally applies if a rogue is attacking someone invisible OR if they are in complete darkness and somehow the target gets flat-footed. Do they get precision damage?
By RAW it looks like the BBEG would get sneak attack damage, but it was contested and I wanted to see what people's thoughts were RAW vs RAI.
2. Let's say the fighter moves back 5ft the end of their round... Being Blinded and Deaf can the BBEG SEEK out? I imagine it'd be slow and difficult randomly guessing squares and all that. Sounds like the fight is over at that point, but for completeness sake curious on thoughts RAW and RAI.

This came up last night and I made a quick decision but still unclear how these two spells interact with each other. A player had true seeing and succeeded a counteract check to see invisible creatures. They then wanted to project that invisible creatures location to the rest of the party through Web of Eyes. Do the other players see the invisible creature?
I quickly ruled they did. I still have doubts because I read Web Eyes is that the players are seeing through the invisible scrying sensor and not through the other players eyes directly. The doubt comes because later in the rule it says: "Each target can use an action to share what it sees with any..." It doesn't reference the sensor but what it sees. I'm still assuming it's through the sensor; else why even mention the sensor to begin with.
Web of Eyes:
You place an invisible scrying sensor on each target just above their eyes. Each sensor looks where that target looks, and all the targets can link their vision briefly to help notice things one target sees but the others might not. Each target can use an action, which has the concentrate trait, to share what it sees with any number of other targets until the start of its next turn. Only one creature can share its vision at a time, so if another target takes this action, the effect ends for any target that was previously sharing its vision.
This improves how well the recipients can perceive anything the sharing creature is looking at. For instance, if a creature is undetected to a recipient but observed by the sharing creature, the creature becomes observed by the recipient as well. Typically, the creature is seen as a glowing outline superimposed on its position. This might allow the recipient to target a creature it couldn't otherwise; however, cover and line of effect still might prevent or impede targeting and attacks. This can only improve the recipient's vision, not reduce it; for example, if an enemy was undetected by the sharing creature and observed by a recipient, the recipient would still clearly observe the enemy.
Once the vision sharing stops, the benefit ends. Whether a creature is hidden or undetected is still based on the last information a target had before the vision sharing ended. For example, that means if a creature is behind a wall but hasn't moved, it's still hidden rather than undetected by a recipient that witnessed its current position.
True Seeing:
You see things within 60 feet as they actually are. The GM rolls a secret counteract check against any illusion or transmutation in the area, but only for the purpose of determining whether you see through it (for instance, if the check succeeds against a polymorph spell, you can see the creature's true form, but you don't end the polymorph spell).

Due to Covid I have finally started playing in Society games. I've played under 8 different GMs now and one thing I've noticed (esp in PF2) is that the GMs let us roll skill checks until success. Many of those skill checks unlock treasure bundles and reputation. Only two of those GMs allowed failure. That both games happened to be the better experiences by far and I think part of it is that I lose interest if there are no consequences.
For example one scenario there were two or three side quest to go talk to NPC `X` and convince them to do `Y.` Each time everyone failed the initial checks and took 4 players to make two checks each just for one mediocre success. There were definitely at least one or two critical failures in these checks. Instead of the GM allowing us to fail every single encounter like that was essentially "Roll till success." To me these are some of the worst games I have ever played as I become detached pretty quickly.
I don't want to play in Society if there are no consequences for non-combat failure. I only have about eight data points.
- Is this common throughout society?
- Is it expected that characters make it past each of these skill check and social based encounters?
- Do the Society Scenarios that GMs use to prep not include sections on "How to deal with failure?" If not should they to make it clear that failure is okay?
- IS there something I can do?
- Is it worth giving people feedback on?
I'm also curious on what other people's experiences are. Do other's feel detached when they "succeed" at a skill encounter that they should lose or am I in the minority? I'd prefer to just lose out on the reputation and treasure bundles if I fail on an encounter.

So it came up tonight that the summoner's Eidolon was the target of confusion. On a 76%-100% The confused creature attacks the nearest foe. The question came up:
Can an Eidolon attack it's summoner if it's confused, and vice-versa - can a summoner attack its Eidolon if they are confused??
We went ahead and just said since they were bonded that the Eidolon would attack the next closest(since the summoner sits upon the Eidolon)

I have been GMing for about 12 years now and my wife hates it. I am at the point that I don't know what to do. She used to tolerate it and now more and more she mocks me about it or will have an argument about it. Our group gets together for aboit 6-8 hours every 2-3 weeks. A good portion of the game we are just socializing and chit chatting, but my wife just thinks we are acting like kids who don't want to grow up. I am 27 and we have one kid. Does anyone have any advise on what I could do? I feel like we argue about something that I have done for a long time and love doing.

The party was given a large sum of gold (more than the party had combined) to protect multiple characters from an employer who owns a lot of land and has an army at their disposal. The reason is because that person is an informant who works with many different spys in a network. The problem was that the informant is an a**hole for lack of better word. One of the party members slit his throat in the middle of the night and tried to feign innocence. How would the employer react when they learn that his informant, who was worth the large sum of gold. I did not anticipate this happening.

Okay, so one of my players wants to design a ship in game that can have horses propel it instead of using rowers. How do I go about this... I looked up some rules in Ultimate combat, and it had good rules for horses pulling land vehicles, but lacked a bit of detail on water vehicles.
He looked up some Roman and Chinese ships that were smaller in size, but were propelled by Oxen. I wasn't sure how large the ship would have to be. Nor am I sure how fast they can help propel the ship through the water. Any thoughts?!?

Quote:
Druid: Select one cleric domain power at 1st level that is normally usable a number of times per day equal to 3 + the druid's Wisdom modifier. The druid adds 1/2 to the number of uses per day of that domain power. For half-elf druids whose nature bond gives them an animal companion, add +1 skill rank to the animal companion. If the half-elf ever replaces her animal companion, the new companion gains these bonus skill ranks.
Okay, so we had a debate when one of my players was making a Druid. He wanted to use this ability except he wanted to select the Healing domain. Can he do that or is he restricted to the just one domain from the domains that a Druid can select per the Core Rule book, or does this let him choose a second domain off the cleric list with no restrictions?

The friendly wizard of our campaign would like to become a Gargantuan dragon through Form of the Dragon III and then use limited Wish to cast Righteous might while in Dragon Form.
Form of the Dragon III is specifically from the polymorph subdomain of the Transmutation school.
Righteous Might on the other hand is just from the transmutation, which is his argument for why the two spells stack.
At the end of Righteous might it has this blurb:
Righteous MIght wrote:
Magical effects that increase size do not stack.
Which is my argument against it. Again his argument is that he polymorphed into the dragon and then wants to increase size through a magical effect. Also, he admits that spells like enlarge person wouldn't stack with righteous might.

So, this situation has come up in two different games and I need some clarification... The Summoner gets the ability to summon a monster whenever their eidolon is not in play. Since it takes the summoner a standard action to summon a monster instead of a full round action does the monster only get a standard action or do they get a full round like a normal summoned monster?
Please help, we couldn't find the answer anywhere!

Okay,
SO I'm asking this question because in my campaign alot of the characters have darkvision or use a spell to give them darkvision. They are going against opponents that can hide in plain sight or use shadow jump. So my question is three fold:
1) Do players see shadows in darkvision? I know they see objects in black and white, but what if there is a crate or wooden fence... would the player see a shadowy illumination from the crate..
2) Is hide in plain sight useless against someone with darkvision? At higher levels most enemies have either dark vision or some kind of vision enhancement. So is hide in plain sight heavily limited?
3)If someone is in a "shadow" and their enemies have darkvision can they still use shadow jump right in their face?

I received an email that it would be shipped on August 26th and it correlates with my Account. I have not received that shipment. I made another order that shipped out on the 31st and I received that two days ago, I wanted to wait till today to make sure that it was not delayed. I don't know what to do about it.

I actually only have two questions.
If one of the players in combat is sneaking in a corridor that is only 5 foot wide and 10 foot high. There is a Golem that investigated noise and he has darkvision 60 ft. He stops and does a perception check down the hallway and doesn't notice a character sneaking across the corridor. The player sneaking wants to get in the five foot square right in front of the Golem and wait one round to get a full attack on the golem. Would the Golem with darkvision and there is nothing in his line of sight and no shadows for him to hide in, would the guy "sneaking" have any severe negatives or even be able to hide from him when he is right in his face???
Second, when a monster has critical immunity does the player still get an automatic hit for a critical threat?
1) If 3 people are aiding one person to get a grapple he gets a +6 modifier to his grapple and that affects until the end of turn.. So if the person being grappled is trying to reverse the grapple on that one opponent does he get the +6 on his CMD as well as his CMB?
2) If there are 3 people grappling one person then a darkness spell is dropped in that area are they still able to aid the main grappler? Darkness doesn't really affect the two main grapplers because it gives them a +2 bonus to CMD which negates the -4 dex they have for being in a grapple, but how does it affect the multiple creatures aiding?
3)If you are the defender and keep your weapon in your hand do you get a - 4 to your grapple when you try to reverse the grapple? Because I know you get a -4 to your grapple, unless you have both hands free, but what about when you are trying to reverse the grapple?

So our group got jumped by a mob of people, many of them were unarmed. So the DM has them grapple us.
My question is when it is my turn. I try to reverse the grapple. Does the opponent get the +5 circumstance for being the controlling grappler to his CMD. My DM Says that since the CMD = CMB + dex + 10 that he would get the +5 bonus for being the controlling grappler.

If a character is unarmed and picks up both a shield and sword would they provoke two attacks of opportunity if there are two enemies or one of the enemies has combat reflexes???
Furthermore if they picked up two items would they be able to attack you this round? Since picking up an object is a move action, would it be considered two move actions not allowing them to attack the same round they pick up the items?

Lets say that one of the players detects magic to see if the monsters have any kind of magical items they should be aware of and there is one monster that no one sees due to stealth... If that monster had a magical item would the player be able to see it? Or see a moving magical aura?

My PCs have hit level 14, and one of them wants to use his wealth to establish a guild hall base. Two of the characters have leadership and I am not sure how to let them go about it. Can I get some tips?

One of the players in my campaign is running a fighter that is using a Two-Bladed sword and we have just switched to Pathfinder. We were both confused on whether or not some of the Pathfinder feats would work with the two-bladed sword such as Two-Weapon Rend? Based on the rules it should work, but we had a hard time visualizing how it would work in a real scenerio.
Also My second question for TWF: When you attack with your off-handed weapon do you use your full strength bonus, half or none? My player is telling me it's the full strength bonus to damage for both hands and I thought it was only half.
Thanks
