As the last duergar falls and Evanno reappears, Aloysius sags, fanning himself with the handle of his slingshot.

"Oh my!!" he moans. "All of that fracas and to-do! I could use a lightly-minted sip of water right about now."

When the epaulets are presented right off of the good lieutenant's shoulders, Aloysius springs out of repose, completely ignoring the offer of the journal.

"These would look A-MAZING on me." He fixes Evanno with a piercing look. "If I join the Eagle Knights, do I get to design my own jacket? Tell it to me TRUE!"

Aloysius seems to be in excellent spirits, all of a sudden.

Aloysius scrambles up onto the rock formation to his left and heads around the north side, slingshot drawn. As he sees the duergar facing down Oumbroc, he looses a slingshot bullet!

I don't know if I get any bonus or penalty from my elevated line of sight - I'll leave it with you, GM!

Aloysius sneaks forward, trying to keep his companions in sight. When he reaches a point of shelter, he produces his slingshot.

"We've GOT to get through these turnips!" he whispers to himself.

Sneak and move at 1/2 speed for two actions. Produce sling shot as another action.

Aloysius sneaks out from his hiding spot into the cavern with the rock formations. He finds a good place to hide and then calls an arcane shield into existence.

"Calistria's pigtails," Aloysius curses softly under his breath, "they've left me all on my lonesome."

Cast two-action magic missile, again at the blue duergar.

Aloysius scampers forward, attempting to keep low behind the dwarf Ulfgar. Using the lighting from the Eagle Knights, he identifies a duergar target and draws an arcane sigil in the air in front of him.

"This is my specialty!" he confides in Ulfgar as two force missiles blast past the dwarf into the (blue) duergar holding a crossbow within the nearby rock formation.

Move, then cast a two-action magic missile, and send both bolts at the same target.

Hey GM: I had Aloysius' stat block wrong when we started because of a previous adventure (and being on the receiving end of favorable 'bumps' to my stats).

Aloysisus' stats are currently correct. He only has 7/13 hp. 1st level sorcerer!

Aloysius eyes Ulfgar. "EXCUSE me. I was the one that deciphered this script. AHHHHH!" The young sorcerer (cleric?) shrieks as the dead spider splats against the far wall.

"Yes, well, ok then." He then steps back as directed by Vargir as they attempt to toggle the two switches.

Aloysius screeches in pain as he crashes down the rocky gap.

"Oh! I am dying in a dark hole in the ground. This is not the way I envisioned going - it's not fair....oooh! Fun looking runes!"

Aloysius considers the rend in the rock cautiously. Sighing deeply, the young man closes his eyes.

A scene out of a nightmare appears in his vision. A form, possibly human or of similar ancestry, encased completely from head to toe in a black leather costume with eye slits and nose slits as the only external openings, performs a disturbing trapeze performance above a crowded hall of nobles and effete. As we watch the figure flips and spins, twin daggers in each hand as it uses just the momentum of its body to twist out of the trapeze and land in front of a form pinned to a plank of wood at the front of a stage. The form strides towards the crucifixion platform, daggers raised...

Aloysius awakes with a start, a grey pallor to his skin. Without delay, the delicate-looking sorcerer cartwheels and front-flips over the pit.

Concentrating for one minute to use Ancestral Memories and choose to become trained in Acrobatics (+6).

Acrobatics Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Nah. Gonna use my Hero Point to reroll.
Reroll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Barf.

Before the lieutenant leaves, Aloysius takes him aside, the light from his wayfinder casting strange shadows between the two men.

"Lieutenant 'Brackett', is it? That's a curious coincidence - any relation to the Pathfinder Venture Captain that sent us?"

GM:
Aloysius has none of the skills noted. As noted, he has his lit wayfinder out and unveiled. As he travels, it is in one hand, attached to a chain and wrapped around a bracelet at his wrist so that he might release it, but so that it remains attached to him. In his other hand, he holds a small bag.

Aloysius has an engraved wayfinder (slotless boon), is an Envoy's Alliance champion (faction boon), and has the 'Narsen's Web' general boon.

For good or ill, you have been swept up in the schemes of the masked priest Narsen. Whether the cunning cultist’s aims are for good or ill remains to be seen. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to Perception checks to Sense Motive when dealing with anyone hiding their features behind a mask or disguise (including magical disguises and polymorph effects that change the person’s appearance to something unrecognizable.

"Oh, my!" the young pale-skinned man calls out as he first encounters the Eagle Knights. "So gallant. I am charmed," he presents a limp handshake to 'Ev'. "Adorin' the Andorens!"

He then smirks as he looks between the Eagle Knight and his companions. "So we're plumbing the depths, eh? Penetrating into the dark? You've got the right man for that!" Aloysius places his hands akimbo and stares at the map.

"Now tell me what I need to know about this map. And why are they called the 'Candlestone' Caverns? Does the stone glow or something? I like things that glow." Aloysisu affixes a fierce gaze onto Lieutenant Evanno.

”Is this how it ends, then?” Aloysius swallows weakly, his pale hand beginning to glow paler than normal. Blood streams from his robes where the scythe has scored his flesh. The Nidalese blood flows down Aloysius’ arm as he stretches his hand out to touch the monstrous skeleton.

Cast chill touch. Fort 18 or flat-footed for one round. The skeleton flees on a critical save (if fails a Will 18 save as well).

Aloysius then retreats, fleeing the creature’s reach.

Stride away. Likely incur an AoO, but maybe not.

Aloysius swallows nervously.

"They said that they were all mindless, right?" the young man says with faint hope. "It wouldn't be that there's something malevolent and icky at the back of the mass, just waiting to soften us up, right?"

Aloysius considers his lone remaining offensive spell and retreats up to the ramparts. As he goes, he focuses his mind, calling for his cursed ancestors' fund of knowledge once more.

Move to the ramparts. Re-focus and use ancestral memories once more to get Lore (Undead).

Aloysius considers the smaller zombie and moves to target it with his next fiery attack.

"Oh sweet mercy! Those nasty things - they are likely to light up at a touch of flame, so....let's reach out and touch them!"

He then looks around to see that Piotr and the many of the others have relocated to the ramparts.

"AHHHH!"

Cast produce flame and make a ranged attack against the lead zombie. Use last movement to get behind the well.

Aloysius frowns as he considers the final two skeletons. He murmurs to Pyotr, "I've only got one more blaster spell. Given how resistant these things are to virtually everything that I can do apart from my force spells, I think I'm going to need to turn to something a bit more rustic." The sorcerer produces a slingshot from his robes with a resigned shrug.

Draw weapon. Fire two separate sling bullets at the blue skeleton. Switch target to final skeleton if needed.

Aloysius makes use of the memories of his distant Nidalese relatives, sifting through their dark souls filled with rage and vengeance for useful tidbits of lore about the rampaging undead careening down upon them, those same forces enslaved by his distant kin to fulfill their malevolent whims.

Aloysius faints melodramatically (though not really).

Aloysius is pleased at the slow-going proceedings of deciphering the runes.

"The cool dark of the dungeons of the fort suit my complexion much better than the naked sun. I'll take Sylvina and continue the work that we're doing in figuring out what those Kellid folk placed under the fort."

"I will need time to let these blisters heal," Aloysius announces to the others on the morning of the sixth day. He grimaces at his soft, white hands, slowly opening and closing his fists. "That was far too much shovelling in excavating that basement. Today, I propose that I canvass the town for someone who might aid me in deciphering the runes covering that odd table we discovered in the dungeons of the fortress. It might prove useful if it winds up having some enchanted purpose; alternately, we'd not be thought of too highly by the Society if it wound up being something evil that we hadn't sorted." Aloysius gingerly massages the palm of his left hand with a pained look on his face. "That's my plan, at least."

Aloysius will ask Sylvina (the wise woman) who she thinks would be good at helping him to decipher those runes. He'll spend whatever it takes.

Aloysius reports back to his colleagues on the evening of Day 3 with a sly smile.

”I think we’ve got some sympathetic ears in those on the heads of Matthild, Bessama, and Sylvina. We will be returning to the keep today to try to help further excavate the stairs. I will pass the three of them one of the coins given to us by Venture-Captain Barun. I think they’ll all enjoy the trinket.”

Aloysius can help excavate (or rather, direct Chall to do so), or he can help repair the gate (again, Chall), with his work crew - wherever he is needed. He will pass the three ladies the tokens during the work day.

During the day, Aloysius shares words with the two servant-girls.

”I feel similarly to you both about servitude: there’s no guarantee that you will be taken care of, just one that you’ll be taken advantage of. That’s why I do what I do within the Society: I make sure that those working for and with our organisation get taken care of -“ here, the willowy young man offers Bessama a sharp look - “or get taken care of what they need taken care of.”

Aloysius spends the day with Bessama, Matthild, and Sylvina away from Fort Agate, tending to well-tested cleaning supplies in preparation for another hearty few days of scouring the fort.

"...of course, my mother found things for me to do around the house due to my breathing difficulties," the slight man explains to Matthild as he scrubs cleaning rags with a pumice stone, "but there's only so much that the town would stand. They insisted upon my servitude in the military, and I was just not going to bend that easily, so I ran away. It must be different for you here in Razmiran. It seems as if you're all well-suited and chosen for your roles..."

Aloysius lets his words trail off as he looks about the three women's faces for notable reactions.

"Of course, the Pathfinder Society provided me training and support when I couldn't rely on anyone else, not even my home country."

Oh yeah....laying it on thick and trying to seek out any potential liaisons.

So with so many Craft activities available and a Hireling who has Craft as their main skill, Aloysius was going to direct Chall to repair the gate while he talks to locals. Is that ok?

I don't know if you can use Hero Points after discovering the result of the initial roll - I think you have to decide if you want to reroll based on your first roll, not whether it is successful or not.

I'd be curious to hear what other's thoughts are on the matter. It matters to me as a GM for future rulings.

GM and Khunbish, I would like to award my promotional Hero Point to Khunbish in order to allow him to reroll that check involving the Whisper Lillies.

Aloysius spends the first day cleaning the great hall along a contingent of townsfolk. Aloysius makes sure to be kind and courteous to the servants of the village that he's specifically asked to be placed with on work detail.

"I think I've never felt dirtier," Aloysius announces to the gathered party at Melcat's Folly, "and since I'm in this state, I might as well as continue. In for a copper, in for a gold, as they say." Despite the words, the young man looks well made up, his face prettied and subtly painted.

Aloysius proposes taking his same work contingent to the ruined barracks and cleaning there. He eyes the Hellknight-in-training carefully, then utters a short sentence meant only for his ears.

"Έχουμε δουλειά να κάνουμε. Θα συμμετάσχετε μαζί μας;?"

"We have work to do - would your team join ours?" Aloysius says in Shadowtongue.

"Oh my..." Aloysius murmurs at the map offered by Rout. "A route to buried treasure. Hmm. I wonder what this signifies." He traces the map with his dainty finger.
