I have decided to go the medium Gripplis route and change a few of the facials to fit things he has already done in game. Like make epic jumps, swim like a fish and hold his breath under water.
Thanks for the advice.

I did look at the Gripplis, but they are a small race. I suppose I could increase their size as hard in the beastary.

Hello all,

I am running Kingmaker a little different from my normal campaigns, in that I am letting the players have multiple characters that they can swap in out of every time they head to base (currently Olegs).

This works well, but one of the players has recently asked about taking over Garuum as one of his characters.

The players are currently level 4, so his "new" character Garuum would be level 3.
He also wants Garuum to be a rogue, which while it does not specifically fit in with Garuum as he is written, I have already added some roleplaying elements of rogue behaviour. Mainly so that the other players will not be surprised when Garuum suddenly starts picking locks one handed.

My questions are:

1) Has anyone else stated up Garuum as a PC.

2) What is the effective level of a 3HD 2CR monster when used as a character. The Core rules seem to differ from the beastary. One says 2nd level and one says 3rd.

3) What are the ability modifiers for a Boggard, it appears to be built off the elite array. Or it has pretty big racial modifiers. +4str, -dex, +4con and -2int.

Any advice or pointers would be appreciated.

Hey everyone, I just realised this has started back up. It is late her (gone 1am), but I will read up and get posting again as soon as I can.

I am here and checking in when the job/baby/toddler/wife/European championships allow.

Guess it is the sword for me, I think. Baby fatigued brain is not computing.

Omygosh! I just read up on spider swarms, and Distracted, (Which gives the nauseated condition) Kaj is a genius! If he maintains the swarm, (and the wolf fails it's saves, not as likely, but possible) it is entirely possible he could reduce the wolf to a quivering pile of str-less fur with a tummy ache! :)

It would seem that swarms are SO much more powerful in PF than they were previously! (This is both good, and bad) ;P

Swarms are beyond awesome, Bats also have blindsight so you can use them to detect invisible opponents. One of my currently over used spells.

Just a heads up, my father died last Saturday. Feel free to post for me where ever I hold the game up.

I am in a place called Tamworth in Staffordshire by the way French Wolf.

ADMAE,

I'm really sorry to hear about the winding down of your business. Best of luck finding that next job. I can't imagine the stress you must be feeling.

Where in the US do you live?

I live in England, which explains why I update at weird times compared to the rest of you.

Trying to get out with out owing too many people too much money is a challenge.

Wife is also 7.5 months pregnant and 13 month old is very poorly at the moment with a stomach bug. So expect me to be slow to up date and DMPC mw if I hold things up.

By the way guys, I haven’t yet given xp for the ogre fight. Those of you who are level 5 get 640 experience points, those who are level 4 get 700 experience points.

Let me know if that is enough for anyone to level up.

I am afraid, I have not been tracking my XP. So i have no idea where I am on the level progression.

Happy Birthday Shannon. Hope you have a great day.

It might be possible to even save the ship, if actions are taken to put out the flames before they spread past the sails.

Ardanto will attempt this. For some reason it will not let me post as any of my avatars.

Did the ogre just pick up Laithe? Now that is evil, I would allow your self a sneaky Muhahahahahaha!

Vampiric touch sounds excellent. Heal me while harming them can't be bad.

I also have access to that spell in a rule book.

What spells could one of you stick in my Sword of Spell Storing please?

3rd level spell or lower that is activated against my target on a successful hit as an immediate action?

Finn Killshrike wrote:
If no one else wants them (Karkalla?), Finn will take the sandals.

Ardanto asks Finn "Where are you planning to sail in you boat sandles...."

If no one minds I will then swap the Scimitar to a Longsword, a +1 Longsword of Spell storing is better than a plain old +1 Longsword.

I also would not say no to the nice, if somewhat smelly cloak.

Feel free to veto either as I seem to want a lot of that loot.

It also throws up a +1 longword to sell.

I meant to post this earlier, but real life got in my way.

I would of loved to resurrect TenFoot Twin Eater and bring him along on the adventure, but I think with one 10 month old and another due in May, my posting would of been very erratic. I did not want to be the person you were always waiting on to post.

For those of you playing, you are in for a real treat.

I am leveled up, went for improved critical.

I need to start looking for a +2 dexterity bonus item before level 11 or I do not qualify for Greater Two Weapon Fighting.

I also would not mind the item from the APG that adds 2 to weapon training. That is a huge bonus for Ardanto.

I ditto Mothman's sentiments. I hope everyone has a happy festive period.

Why tell us that unless something is hidden beneath it, cue evil DM laugh.

I did break the golden rule, it was completely unplanned, having taken nearly 3 years and two near death experiences for us to get Fletcher, we were very surprised to find the wife was pregnant again. 15 weeks now and she is finally starting to feel normal and be able to do stuff for her self with out throwing up. If all goes to plan there will be 15 months between them, fingers crossed.

I am still really enjoying this, your guys roll playing puts mine to shame, I get locked into roll playing the character, but not interacting with the other players. I am slowly trying to change that, but a teething baby and a constantly 24 hours a day morning sickness wife is making my posting pretty patchy, I apologize for that.

The DMing and story telling is excellent, I actually invest in the wealth-fare of the NPCs. All in all, this is an excellent fun.

All in all, I would agree with the others and say long may we play this.

I am happy with Ten Foot as he was, so no changes for me.

I will continue with him as is if this gets rebooted.

I missed the re-activation post as I am stoopid.

If Ten Foot has not been replaced I would love to resurrect his conquests.

[threadjack] ADMaE, Patrick Curtain is starting up his City of Opal PbP again, in case you're interested in bringing back Tenfoot. I know you've been busy, but thought I'd let you know. [/threadjack]

I will try and get up to speed and see where we are. Good old Ten Foot Twin Eater.

I still need Ardanto's HP at lest.

Good point, I am in the process of updating his on-line character sheet.

Went for Greater Weapon Focus.

I always forget what dice I roll, but found the post and updated my character sheet so I will not forget if I live to see level 9.

1d10=1d4+6hp

1d4 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Why am I not surprised that my latest d6 was another 1. I am pretty sure that is about 7 1's in a dozen rolls.

So total is 99HP at level 8 (I have a feeling I will need them).

ADMAE has pointed out that I am thinking of 3rd edition rather than PF damage reduction rules – I hadn’t picked up on some subtle differences. As such, Laithe’s bite attack last round had its full, intended effect – ie, it overcame the creature’s DR, and if Laithe wants to keep biting it this round, that appears to be an effective attack form. Otherwise, there are no other changes to subsequent actions.

For the record I think the new damage types for natural weapons are wrong, especially a bite when applied to some creature. How hard would it to have been for the developers to simple put a P, S or B combination after every natural attack in the Beastery? But eh, what can you do.

I have a crib sheet with Ardanto's feat choices and skills at each level written out, trouble is I have filled it. As soon as I find it I will get him updated. But I am toying with the idea of breaking my own vow and using another book apart from just the core book as he feels he is falling behind the others in power/usefulness.

Talking of infections, I got bitten by a panicked house cat that had become trapped in my house on Saturday. The bite on my left ring finger has become infected even through I am on two separate antibiotics courses. I have a fat, puss filled finger that so far has not sprouted any tentacles. The nurses have told me the only bite that is worse than a cats is a humans.

Sorry to see you taking a break Pat, hope you get back soon.

I remember holidays....... they are a fun distant memory.

Iceland, sounds super, lets hope no erupting volcanoes interrupt your plans.

How many action points do our characters get per level? I was under the impression that there were just a few "tiers," and that they only replenished their action point pool when they gained a level (which is why Mike only has 5 action points). Are you making them cumulative?
I think you roll 1d6 per level up until level 6, then it's 2d6.

That is how much the Action Points add to a roll, not how many you get per level.

I can't remember us having action points before.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Wow, three years, they seem to have flown by. says a lot about your DMing that so many of us are still here. Cheers Shannon.

Cord is updated, I think.

He seems to have a lot of feats listed as Bonus feat, you must of been feeling generous as I got two at level 3.

His stat line is now:

Cord: LVL 4, INIT +2, PER +7, AC 21*(Dodge and Defensive Martial Arts not included) HP 34 (-26), ACTION not assigned

Hows things ADMAE? Hope that life is treating you well and that things are beginning to calm a bit.

Just so you know, it looks like Z-Day is back up and running.

Cheers Mothman! You are a star.

Baby is delightful apart from his sleeping patterns, he sleeps for maybe an hour or two maximum and once he wakes up he can't get him self back to sleep. So the nights are very very broken sleep.

I now know why they use sleep deprivation as a form of torture.

Hello guys, I didn't realize this was up again until Mothman gave me a nudge. I lost the RSS feed when my old lap top died.

I am just lurking at the moment, keeping up to date on the posts.

I'll try and get back to regular posting as soon as I can, but life is very hectic and tiring at the moment.

Sorry for my continued absence, home life has not got any easier. Our little boy only cat naps for 15 minutes at a time so sleep is a luxury.

I have been trying to catch up on the reading when I get chance, but I am woefully behind.

It might be best to either write Michael out or park him some where safe (I trust what ever you decide is best).

Hopefully when we see the doctor again on Thursday they might have some answers so we can start getting a life again.

It is your birthday this week, unless I missed it. Have a good one.

No one pays you stepping outside any attention, inside the sound of merriment continues.

A few choices, feel free to dream up your own:

1) Ignore the men.
2) Tail the men and catch them red handed as they ambush a caravan.
3) intercept the 3 men after they leave but before they report back to the rest (if any) of their group.
4) Inform the caravan guards and caravan men inside the inn and let them take justice into their own hands.
5) Find out where the nearest law is and ride like the wind to find it and bring it back.
6) Inform the inn keeper and pray he is not involved.

Mallius:

While neither of your companions have noticed, you catch a hand gesture from the man you study to another table, which is acknowledged by a subtle nod of the head.

It would appear that the suspected highway man has at least two accomplices in the bar. They are obviously human and look like your typical caravan guards, with nothing to distinguish them from the crowd.

Perception Checks Visual please for all of you. You can add your Human bonus Tionan.

Your instincts are probably correct, if anything you think he is probably casing caravans so he can work out the best target to rob. Considering the caravans tend to be heavily guarded these days, lone highway men are a thing of the past. So if this is the case (and he is not just being sociable) then he is part of a bigger group and he is the spotter for them. You doubt the whole group is here, maybe just enough to pretend to be caravans.

He still does not react to your presence, so maybe he does not recognise you.

I'll put it down to inter-racial language barriers.

Tionan heads to the bar walking straight past the man he has indicated to Maliuss. The man either does not recognise Tionan or if he does he has a good poker face and continues to talk the current caravan guards he is leaning over and conversing with.

You catch a small part of the conversation as you pass, the man is chatting about the caravan he is guarding that is heading to Zantac and has just inquired where the other guards are heading.

Tionan, you reach the bar, which has several customers leaning against it talking to the inn keeper. None of them look up as you approach, but a bar maid starts moving in your direction smiling.

Over in the corner Big Ern and Ulgath are amongst a crowd watching two other men attempt a yard of ale race, most of the beer is going down their chin rather than down the throats.

Total should be 88, this is now corrected.

Never used a healing potion though. So a simple, it does the same as Thovin used to do would work.

He would still sniff it and look at you all suspicious, but in a pinch he would use it.

Ardanto is magic illiterate.

Ardanto wouldn't mind one or two of the potions, as long as some one explains what they are and how they work in layman's terms. Otherwise it is just a jumble of words to him.

Freedom of movement is pretty awesome, Ardanto has two rings already so he can't go for it.

So that is at least one person who does not need it.

Tionan:

Spoiler:
While the mans name completely escapes you, his career does not, he was a highway man, he was in the village of Nulb to sell some ill gotten gains. Nulb being the sort of despicable town full of low life like that.

Was it an oversight that Toxim was not on duty that night, or should I be asking him if he is a spy?
