I'm sorry to see you go, Sunset.

*Bows

I look forwards to mixing it up with folks in other PbPs. =)

We shall see what the future may bring.

Much cheers to you and yours.

I hope this isn't an inappropriate intrusion but I have been following the game thread for a little while (I wanted to see what makes a PbP game so successful, 3 years qualifies for that title) and now I notice that you are going to be short a cleric/healer.
I would be more than willing to step in to that role if you would have me. I have a Gnome Cleric of Desna that I have had in another game but it stalled soon after I joined it. If that wouldn't be appropriate I would be more than willing to explore other options.
Let me know how you feel about it.

I'd have no problem with it. I did the same to get into the game myself. Though we play in the Eberron setting, so you should get to know that pantheon.

I would prefer to wait until we reach civilization before adding another party member. I'm not a big fan of revolving door parties, especially when we've been plagued by assassins in disguise recently...

Male Human Technician 17

Hello Xzarf. I'd welcome you as Dax does, but hogarth has a point.
Especially after that episode with Fathom.

But come the next settlement...

Whatever is decided is cool, I just thought it might be a good opportunity to get into what looks like a great game.
If I am designing a character, Ebberon setting? Level 7? 20pt buy? Gear?

Seeker:
This is also Darrid from the Hollow's Last Hope DM KK game and wondering if Hanathan is coming back to play. We just hit some combat.

A bit of a heads up, my ISP is in the it hates everyone phase. As such my connection has been super spotty. It was off line totally Monday due to them working on lines and today I got to update one game and it just came back online a little while ago. Trying to update and cover things while I have time. If I vanish again you know why.

I do not mind a new player if the others do not, however I also do not care for the revolving door of pc's and the next civilization is some time away. There is no easy place to drop a new pc anywhere near. It could be done with some work, but the pc's are very skittish of new comers. They have been attacked by shapeshifters, mind controlling assassins, vampires and a few other things I am not gonna say.

Still if everyone wants a new pc I can think of a few way to get someone in soonish off the top of my head.None all that simple or leading to opean trust really but it can be done if that is the wish of the players.

Here is the character concept.
Gnome Cleric of Olladra (Healing/Luck).
Fairly happy-go-lucky guy who takes luck (good and bad) in stride, after all what is fate if not fickle.
Primarily a healer and buffer. Combat skills are going to be a bit limited.

I'm OK with a new party member, although hogarth's point is a good one; it's difficult to add someone in the middle of the jungle.

(I get the feeling we'll have a rough time w/o a healer and no easy way to replenish clw wands and potions, though ...)

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I am not sure how familar ya are with Eberron Xzarf I do find Eberron Gnomes a bit scary myself. I take it you plan not to be a native them, farshore resident then?

Farshore is the non native colony on the far end of the island. Well small islands on the far end of this island anyhow.

Grand Lodge

Couldn't he play one of the crew that decides to 'step up'?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Yes he could, there are a few option

1: Crew .This might seem both the best and worst option, sure they are known and close, but why have they hide this up until now?
2: Shipwreak survivor
3: Native , both olmen and other native types
4: Someone form farshore that is way, way out in the bush all alone for some odd reason.

seekerofshadowlight wrote:

He could be part of another adventuring party that has met an untimely end and therefore is wandering alone wondering why Olladra has cursed him but then blessed him with a new party.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Lets just say I can't see anyway you would have made it to meet with the pc's here. I have some places I can put a pc in, but not many close that are believable you made it though alone really.

Dax Thura wrote:

Avner pipes up. "Hey, it turned out I was a 7th level cleric all along and I didn't mention it!"

;-)

Teleportation attempt gone horribly horribly wrong? :P

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

well now that you bring Avner up........

Maybe #2 would be the easiest way to introduce someone completely new.

Well, I said my piece -- I'd prefer to wait until we reach civilization where someone can vouch for the new party member. But I'll accept the judgment of the majority.

Fighter Level 9

As the guy who spends most of his time getting crushed, bitten, impaled, poisoned and a whole host of other plagues, I would welcome a healer. Introduction could be tricky, as the others have said we trust few people.

How about we spy a chuck of drift wood, the remains of a ships mast out at sea. Clinging to it is the unconscious form of a small priest gnome?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok a bit of update on my connection . I seem to be working right now. They have replaced the modem, replaced the lines, reset something at the station and still I am buggy, but they will be back after lunch.

So I'll update this evening if I have a stable connection

If it's working now, for pity's sake -- don't touch it with your Touch of Doom!!

;-)

I will be heading once again to Italy next week; I leave on Saturday and won't be back until Friday the 9th. Please run Daurros as necessary; I will try and check in, but as in the past I don't know that I'll have any access (the hotels make you pay!!)

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Yeah they had to replace some lines, and a jack they sore worked, yet didn't it seems.

Anyhow I am back online steady like it seems. On new Pc's honestly I would rather wait till this is done then bring a new one in out of the blue, but if most of you would like one now we can do that.

also As I said in the main thread I have been really lax in xp updates. Man you guys are still level 6 on my in profile chart :)

So now you are level 8.

Grand Lodge

Level 8? Did I just here a 'ding!'

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

DING! Super Mario brothers level complete music here....better?

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Huh, Level 8...? Nice!

Hitpoints! 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

Hit Points 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Awesome! Seeker, what did we decide that Finn gets at level 3 of the "Abyssal" (a.k.a. Dragon) Disciple class? Breath weapon, or a +2 inherent bonus to Strength?

HP: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Nice hitpoints so far.

By the way, don't forget -- starting at level 8, when you use an action point to improve a roll, you roll 2d6 and take the higher value instead of just rolling 1d6.

I understand that it isn't a good join spot. I will hang around and continue to watch if that is okay with you folks and then if you want me at some future point then I will be available.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

You are more then welcome when it is time. I just would rather not have another PC looked as an intruder because they appeared out of the wilderness. As the group seems to want a healer I have no issue with you joining if the others are fine with it, You can make what you want as you do not have to just randomly show up. This will also get a bit familiar with the setting and if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.

I have a list of books I allow, which pretty much is the Core, XPH, most the eberron books, APG, UM, UC, book of might by monte cook. The first few posts in this thread covers house rules and creation.

hogarth, We went with a +2 to strength if I recall.

Female Shifter Rogue 9

Hp for lvl

Bryan, so far I've decided upon Spider Climb and Minor Image as Toxim's two spells. I have not picked my arcana yet, but I'm considering picking expanded arcana with which I would get Rope Trick. It would be nice to have some measure of safety when we rest at night.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Food for thought:
Once the leveling is done, Guard is able to craft magic arms and armor like a 9th level caster, if someone provides the spells necessary.

My craft skills (armor and weapon) are at a +14, but right now I don't have equipment, so next downtime would be a good time for crafting.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok, everyone leveled up?

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn is done.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

Took spell blending and chose protection from evil and gravity bow. Toxim's ready.

No; just got back a few hours ago and am in the process of getting caught up. Let me have a day or two, if that's OK.

EDIT: hit points for level 8 - 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

OK, done. Got to it quicker than I thought ...

You know, that was one of those spells that I just assumed I had. Looking back through, I have to ask myself why the heck I never took it. Even if you don't, the next time I get a chance to buy a scroll, that's on the list. Of course, the crew might take offense if we shelter in a rope trick while they stay outside ...

Grand Lodge

I went a different way, but if I had taken it, I with spell recall I could have easily cast it twice each day. If you could have done it once, we would have had everyone covered for the night.

But isn't it more fun this way? :-)

I have a crib sheet with Ardanto's feat choices and skills at each level written out, trouble is I have filled it. As soon as I find it I will get him updated. But I am toying with the idea of breaking my own vow and using another book apart from just the core book as he feels he is falling behind the others in power/usefulness.

Sadly, I think the dice gods hate Ardanto. There's no feat that can counter that. Well, maybe some of the action point feats.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Hmm, I haven't decided on which of my attribute points to raise... STR or CON seem the obvious choices, but maybe DEX or INT should be raised instead to offer more choices for feats... Hard...

If I recall, I had suggested the Mobile Fighter Archetype for Ardanto some time ago. Though it is from the APG. I think it would fit very well with Ardanto's swashbuckler fighting style.

The Vital Strike feat (crb) would allow you to hit harder when you can only make one attack.
Step Up (crb) and Following Step (apg) would synergise well with Mobile Fighter and be very useful later when we are fighting large size foes who make use of their reach. Step Up and Strike (apg) finishes out the chain. I have seen it take out more than one enemy trying to get position.

Ugh,machines hate me. Reinstalling windows, postting from anook of all things. Will update when i can.
