In our adventuring party for Skulls and Shackles we have a cannibal witch… Anyway, I pointed out the cannibalism sub-domain to her for fun as I discovered it while skim reading and it provoked a little debate. While it clearly states that the duration is based on ½ your CLERIC level, the profane bonus you receive and its increases per level do not specify a class (instead saying: At 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th level, this bonus increases by 1). Am I correct in assuming that if a class isn’t specified then the level is based on character level and not class level? This doesn’t feel like it is the intention of the power, however I may well be wrong and thought I’d check.
Zhangar, thanks! I actually logged on this morning as on the drive to work I realised I'd typed Sloth and not Gluttony. That is exactly the reply I was hoping for, appreciate you getting back to me so quickly and I'll definitely check those references out, will probably order Rule of Fear after posting this!
The neighbouring locality of Ustalev to Gastash (the Thassilonian realm of Sloth, associated with Necromancy) intrigues me. As someone currently running Rise of the Runelords and looking at Carrion Crown as a potential AP for the future I'm wondering if the necromantic backgrounds of these two nations are tied and whether there is any lore/adventures relating to this? Obviously I can make stuff up, but I'm not keen on doing anything too dramatic that isn't enshrined in canon. Call it OCD, call it a desire for everything to be in its proper place, or call it a fear that subsequent products will be rendered invalid from my choices (all our games share a setting). Ultimately I'm not adverse to spicing up my adventure paths with supplemental adventures. My current Rise of the Runelords campaign includes a lot of elements from the Year of the Risen Rune (which I am happy to alter as it has little overarching impact). So I was wondering, does anyone know of any published material that can link elements of the Runelord of Sloth into the Carrion Crown adventure path?
Sunday wrote: A ideas how to deal with my clever little poppets? :S Tsuto knows about Malfeshnakor. Make the PCs feel they are on a timer to stop him being released and therefore destroying Sandpoint. They have no choice but to go to Thistletop and stop him. Regarding the evacuation. Could have been avoided by having Tsuto urge the PCs to chop the enemy off at the neck, kill the woman that was manipulating him and say that the goblins are all imbeciles and will fall apart without her... is it too late to do this? As for other wells, just have the scholar dude tell them and that Bakrakan is entirely submerged with the exception of Sandpoint, he could have some ancient map of the Boundaries or somesuch... besides, once Thistletop is done the PCs will have murders to deal with if they are good little deputies.
In ours it was the cowardly and rather lame first level Conjurer. I played it so Shayliss was attracted to magic hence why she shirked the more conventionally 'attractive' characters (also as I was intrigued by how this would play out)... I wasn't let down. Vin essentially turns up just as Shayliss bends down to show our conjurer where the rats are and her blouse ‘slips’ from her shoulder. Anyway, Vin enters a rage and goes for the guy only to have him declare “I’m going to roll into a ball and go foetal”. We were all pretty stunned by the reaction as fight or flight tends to be the adventurers way, but it truth it played out hilariously. Vin stood around angry and shouting at him, unable to vent his anger aggressively as he couldn’t bring himself to hurt the wretch. Eventually as his rage subsided he went from ‘get the hell out, to… alright son just leave, to… here let me help you up’.
So I have acquired myself a Bronze Gryphon, go me! This is mostly by default as I am the only person left without any form of ability to fly and the only person with Ride. Sadly however, the reason I have ride is because I’m a Cavalier, which means I also have a horse. Now while I love my horse (who is indeed a killing machine at L10), frankly a Griffon is way more awesome even before we take the stat block into account. Also I have rarely been able to use my horse as we are playing Council of Thieves and this is almost entirely indoors (figurine would be very useful). Lastly, I find having two mounts thematically weak, who has two mount!? Anyway, remembering that there was the Companion Figurine feat I rushed home to plan my next level to take the griffon as my mount and retire my mighty warhorse to pasture… only to find it wasn’t on the list of viable figurines. I guess I’m asking for a work around that I can wave under the nose of my DM to justify this as a mount. Factors:
So, is this even possible? I’m thinking no, but on the off chance it is, hit me! If it isn’t possible, what advice can you give for the best and fairest way to justify it? Lastly and what I am secretly hoping for is, is that as the Bronze Griffon is basically a creature with no odd abilities it was omitted from the Figurine Companion list as it require no special rules, but however be taken... tell me this is so and save me a lot of trouble :) |
