Pathfinder Chronicler is pleased to announce the release of Pathfinder Chronicler Anthology Volume II as a free download from the Paizo webstore! During PaizoCon, many of you got your (physical and electronic) hands on the newest issue of the Wayfinder fanzine. This week, Anthology II brings thirty new short fiction stories set in Golarion to add to the ranks, all written by budding authors from the Pathfinder fan community. Of special mention are those stories featuring three specific "nations of treachery": Cheliax, Galt and Irrisen. You can download copies of Wayfinder #9 and Pathfinder Chronicler Anthology Volume II here.

Even more exciting is that we at Pathfinder Chronicler are again running our annual Pathfinder Fiction Contest (deadline August 12th). This year, we’re requesting that aspiring authors submit stories of no more than 3000 words which should build upon or explore the untold secrets of Golarion. After two rounds, the top five entrants will be submitted to Fiction Editor, James L. Sutter, who has accepted the task of crowning our victors, and Paizo gift certificates will be awarded to those selected as the first, second and third prize winners. If you are interested in participating in the contest, please visit our newly re-designed website for more information.

Finally, in case you thought this was just any old contest, you should also know that after the competition is over, Pathfinder Chronicler editors will go to work with interested entrants, editing and improving their original submissions until they are ready to publish in Pathfinder Chronicler’s next Anthology. As a special treat, we are pleased to premiere the cover art for Volume IV on this blog, a macabre twist on our usual librarian theme, hauntingly and beautifully illustrated by Carolina Eade. This next volume promises to be something special indeed, so be sure to enter the contest for a chance to get your story into print!

That art is incredible. Excellent work, Carolina!

Ditto about the art!

Has Chronicler Anthology III cover been announced/released yet? I've got the first 2, (reading through #2 right now), and this is the cover for number 4. My math may be incorrect, but I thought there was a number somewhere between 2 and 4. :p

Glad to see Carolina getting so much work, she's doing the cover art for my current project as well!

Also glad to see Paizo Fans United getting this out there! :)

Apparently Itchy, you have not visited our website. Go to our donations section and there you will see Volume III. I have a print copy in my hand with your name on it. In that Volume you will find a lot of good stuff that I worked on along with my story "Way of the Gun" which is my take on a gun-slinging Pathfinderized Annie Oakley babysitting her younger brothers against a massive hoard of ghouls and undead.

What project is that? (I love her art.)

It's a little early to talk much about it (and not the place either, I'd hate to digress the thread off-topic any further), but suffice to say in a couple months there'll be more to share regarding it. :)

Sweet! I did not see that. I'm donating today!

Is there a way to get the eBook version along with the print version? I'm finding more and more that I'm reading fiction on my tablet rather than from actual wood pulp books (though I do love me a bookshelf full of books).

Also... rather than threadjack, I'm sending a PM...

We plan to release the ePub version of Volume III in October. We have our ePub fella working on it as we speak.

Awesome, thanks! I'll keep an eye open for the ePub of Chronicler III, and donate via the website for the physical copies.

I know about the old saying about judging a book by it's cover, but the cover alone is enough to make me want this.

Given I've put my heart and soul into what is under the covers, I stand behind the stories 100%. This is no fan material but pure diamonds.

After reading the first Anthology, and being partway through the second Anthology, I am inclined to agree with Zuxius.

Of course it's fan material. Otherwise it wouldn't be produced by Paizo Fans United. It just happens to be really good fan material.

Thank you Shades and Itchy. This endeavor has taken about 4-5 years of my life to develop. The concept evolved during that time to what it is today: the contest, the stories and an overwhelming lethal amount of editing. I am about to start looking at Anthology IV and it must be completed by Norwescon. I am skeptical every time.

Love the cover.

Just to clarify in case I was misunderstood I was espousing the great artwork on the cover and not making any statement about the stories the book has. I by no means think what's inside can't be great also.

Hi Drock, I wasn't implying that but thanks for the clarification. The reason I go with professional covers is that I feel a lot of people judge a book by its cover. I want nothing but the best for our one page splash to sell the community on what was a massive laborfest of horror (if you are editing it). Doing this and Radiology together is all consuming. My vacations are working our booths at conventions.
