How much will tickets be? Will the admission tickets and Dinner tickets be separate again this year?
Both will be exactly the same as last year. (Maybe somebody else can tell you what those prices were, because I don't know.)

Cool - thanks Vic!

So who remembers how much admission tickets and Dinner tickets were last year???

Don't remember exactly, admission was $25 - $35. The banquet was $15 or $20... ish.

Grand Lodge

I would love to go but my first baby is on the way the week after that so no way the wife would kill me and read the entrails. Oh well I will have to see them at GenCon.

Silver Crusade

Saturday the 11th is my birthday. We'll have to see if I can spend that time at PaizoCon. Certainly not a bad way to spend that weekend :) Defintely going to try and drag friends to come with me this year.

Make up yer bloody minds, Britons ! And tell me the correct date, for arrangements must be made !

16th-17th July 2011 it is. Keep an eye on the PaizoCon UK website or the PaizoCon UK 2011 thread on this forum for further details.

Sorry! i obviously can't contain my excitement, and get *very* confused...

Just take her to Greece for two weeks after PaizoCon. That's what we're currently planning on doing for our 10th :). Unless, ironically, we decide to wait until our actual anniversary date and do a driving trip up to North Carolina...

Killian, are you another Milwaukee local? Check out the Player Finder topic; we're trying to organize some PFS play here.

Last year it was during our 7th anniversary. I convinced my wife to do a vacation in Seattle, and then finish it off by attending Paizo Con. It worked out well, even the day before the Con when I spent the day in the hotel room drawing maps while she went to a spa. :-)

Flights are booked! Now, just need to get tickets for Mariners/Angels later the next week. It was very nice of yinz guys to throw this out there the same time as the RPGSS reveal...I am not even thinking about RPGSS now (pretty sure I didn't have any reason to, anyway, but - there it is).

With finances as tight as they are, I seriously doubt we'll be pulling a trip to Greece. Especially since my wife already booked us on a cruise/resort vacation with all our kids and some extended family in March. Thankfully, we've set aside funds for that well in advance. Plus, most of it's free since we're going to listen to their timeshare spiel. It's the price of admission. :-)

That would be my neck of the woods. Let me know if you drive through Charlotte.

You guys have fun storming the castle. The Paizocon move to a week earlier has put in on the same weekend as my own con here in Oz. Since I can't be in two places at once (I wish!), I look forward to Paizocon 2012.

Kyle (and Doug, and Thea, and several other folk) - not sure if I can make Origins either. It's a crapload of $$ for just one con.

Agh. Just saw the above Paizo Blog. That weekend probably clashes with something else... and might clash with my June exams; I won't know until I get the results for the December ones at the end of Feb! So I'll have to wait a whole month to see if I can go to anything! Grrrr....

Earlier today Dave Gross talked me into attending. Very persuasive, our Dave.

I was going to pitch the idea to Bill, my Very Significant Other, as one part of a week of myriad possibilities, including the Seattle Film Festival, hiking in the rain forest, brew pubs, a Mariner's game, and sundry other inducements. It was a short conversation; I had him at film festival. :)

So. At present it is approximately 83% certain that I will be at PaizoCon.

Hurrah! I'll dig up an old SIFF program and send it along so Bill can get a feeling for the kinds of films they'll be announcing in a couple of months. When you know what days you'll be there, I'll figure out a Mariner's game to propose.

Wanting to propose at a Mariners game is awfully sweet, but Elaine just said she has a significant other!

Mariners are away all three days of the con. They start a home stretch the Monday after the con ends.

Good to know, but I'll be there early for SIFF, and staying late is an option.

:nods: I'm starting to think in terms of a week-plus Seattle exploration vacation. It appears that it'll take at least that to fit in half the things I'd like to do.

I hope I can be there, Liane, and I'm looking forward to meeting you, as well. Though I haven't yet read THE KING's ROAD, I enjoyed your Pathfinder web fiction immensely and look forward to seeing more.

And yes, it has been almost 20 years. ELFSHADOW, my first book, was published in September 1991.

Is the time of the banquet known yet?

Hmm, looks like quite the gathering of authors. I have to admit I'll be sorely tempted but it's a matter of looking at schedule and budget.

Well of course. What's a con without barcon?

Getting more tempted, but will still need to wait.

Niel was there to, but he does not drink.

Okay, checked things out and got my tickets. Cocktails it is.

Of course I brew mead so I'll probably sneak a bottle of that along with me....

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I can empathize, with our house still on the market back in Washington. Greece is only an option because my husband's travel expenses and all of our food would be paid for, thanks to a conference he's attending. Still might not be an option, hence plan B (driving trip).

If we don't make it up there this year, we certainly will next fall. Rather keen on the idea of renting a cabin in the mountains up there and catching the turning of the leaves.

No, no, no, no.....you will NOT sneak a bottle of mead along....you will BRING MANY BOTTLES of mead, to share with us!

I know for a fact that James Jacobs, and Liz Courts (and myself) love a good drink o' mead.

It's not PaizoCon without proper obeisances to Cayden Cailean.

Does booking a room in the con block automatically put you in a room with four other attendees?

TwilightKnight wrote:

Booking a room in the 'block' gives you the group rate ($99 for the normal rooms per night) and the hotel *tries* to put everyone's rooms together in the same area. If you're getting a room with two doubles, and want to split the room with another con-goer, I'd post the offer in a seperate thread on the forum. :)

How do you get to the 'block' my interweb skillz are currently impaired by quantities of alcohol...

Wolfthulhu wrote:

I think when you contact the hotel, you have to request the Paizocon room rate. Then, in theory, they will put you in the Paizocon block.

Shadow Lodge

I may have to bring my own home-brewed beer this time. Bwahahahaha

I'm thrilled to see everyone who is planning to attend this year! It's going to be the best PaizoCon ever!

For Elaine and others thinking about staying extra time for the film festival, I will say that it is 110% worth it. I've been going for years (based largely on Dave Gross's original suggestion years ago), and I've seen many, many, many incredible movies.

I've seen a lot of flicks well before they hit the theaters or Netflix, but most importantly I've seen tons of movies that were absolutely great, but which never got an American distribution deal and thus were otherwise impossible to see.

Plan some extra time for the film festival, and this will be a very memorable trip!*

* Barring any unfortunate memory-draining moments in the hotel bar, that is.

Erik Mona wrote:

What Erik said.

If you care more about the films themselves, and especially if you love international film, this is the best show in North America. The big name festivals have the celebrities and the business deals, but SIFF is for movie fans. It has more different films to see than any other festival in NA. Even if you can show up only a day or two early, it's worth buying a ticket or two.

The midnight shows are great for us geeks, and they happen after (most) PaizoCon events are over.

Seattle once had (and may still have) the highest per-capita book-buying and film-going population in the US, and it shows. The cinemas alone are worth a visit. The Egyptian is my favorite, but if you get a chance to see something in actual Cinerama at the Cinerama, don't pass it up.

Also, go to the SF Hall of Fame at the Experience Music Project museum. Totally worth the time and money.

Just remember, any homebrewed beer that is brought must be checked out by me. I am an official beer taste tester. I must make sure all beer is good. :)

Anyone who wants to try some good stuff and is able to do it, the Beer City Festival is in Asheville, NC most likely the weekend before Paizocon. It's great stuff.

Shadow Lodge

Now that I actually live up in Seattle, attending the film-festival may just have to be on my "must do" list :)

Dane Pitchford wrote:

Can you be persuaded to arrange a Monday-after Mariners' game for those interested? I want to go, but the extend of my corralling is one event, and I'm leaning toward a SF Hall of Fame outing.

Contributor

Got our tickets. For the banquet, too, although whoever has the misfortune of being saddled with the Spousal Unit and myself on their trivia team is destined to lose. So, uh, apologies in advance for that, unknown future table-mates.

I am pretty excited about this thing. I have to confess, though, that I am not a big drinker of mead or beer (or wine, for that matter), so will regretfully have to pass on any offers of either.

Froofy cocktails, that's my scene. ;)

Contributor

Well, mead and other home brews will be have to be sampled in rooms anyway, as the hotel will no doubt be wanting to sell us cocktails and beer. Fortunately it being Washington, both should be plentiful and good quality.

And I'm thinking an SF Hall of Fame outing would be a nice thing too.
