Another tear in the tapestry appears, and from it emerge two bodaks.
Constantin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 +4 with HA
Patchouli: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 4 = 12

Orenjii: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Sorgath: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
bodaks: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Sorgath
Gavirius
Orenji
Tarlamera

Patchouli
Constantin

Tarlamera charges through the ruins 30 feet to try to bring down the undead quickly, cleaving from blue to yellow.
PwrAtk-Cleave-Blue-vs-Flatfooted: 1d20 + 18 - 3 ⇒ (15) + 18 - 3 = 30 dmg1: 1d10 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 26
If that hits:
PwrAtk-Cleave-Yellow-vs-Flatfooted: 1d20 + 18 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 18 - 3 + 1 = 27 dmg2: 1d10 + 21 ⇒ (3) + 21 = 24
Current AC: 19

Orenjii moves and hurls a card at orange.
+1 Returning Shock Harrow Card: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 +1 within 30 ft.
Piercing Damage: 2d4 + 1 ⇒ (2, 4) + 1 = 7 +1 within 30 ft.

Gavirius casts more arcane missiles that strike at the most injured bodak.
I cast magic missile, and the three missiles are for the orange bodak.
magic missile at orange: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) + 3 = 9

GM Redelia |

Sorgath and Gavirius both damage yellow.
status: orange -65 HP blue -26 HP
Both Bodaks step slightly out of reach.
Orange then glares at Sorgath, and blue glares at Tarlemera
(fort save needed from each of you, please)
(If either of you fails your save, please use my campaign service coin reroll, which gives +5 for my GM stars)
The entire party is up.

Orenjii will try to finish off Orange, unless Patchouli just did.

Constantin waits for one of his allies to reengage with the closest bodak, before moving in to stab it from behind.
Constantin will delay to allow one of his allies to move into a position where he can flank blue and then move into flank and attack the bodak (I'll hold off on moving my token until its clear where he needs to move in order to flank)...
longspear attack + heroism + flank: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 30

Patchouli does finish off the orange tinted bodak.
Orenji's card goes over the blue bodak's shoulder.
Constantin's spear will hit when his action occurs.

fort saves (important) needed from Tarlemera and Sorgath.

Tarlamera grunts and tries to break that horrific gaze.
FortSave: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Tarlamera averts her eyes from blue, stumbling towards it and swinging wildly, cutting away while distracting it from Constantin's approach.
Atk1: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22

She smiles bleakly as the spear emerges from the foul things chest.

GM Redelia |

Tarlemera avoids any negative consequences from the bodak's scary gaze. Despite averting her eyes, she strikes the bodak twice.
bodak -56 HP
Constantin then magically positions himself and also strikes, destroying the bodak.
You again see threads hanging from the tapestry, and can try to collect another soul stitch (kn planes, kn arcana, spellcraft, or craft cloth)
I do still need that fortitude save from Sorgath, also. Failing it would have consequences beyond the current fight.
This should be the last needed undead success, so other than the above, we will wait for the overseer rather than start another encounter.

GM Redelia |

When the overseer makes an announcement, you will all get 1d6 ⇒ 5 x8=40 temporary hit points. Then you will have two rounds to prepare/buff/etc. before the next fight begins. You may post what you will do now and put your tokens in the blue box on the final map.

Constantin tries to collect another soul stitch...

DM Carbide |

***OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT***
Aram Zey speaks out through the tapestry. “The soul stitching is slowing down! The undead are under control. But the tapestry remains in danger. Fight on!”
Table GMs, the Undead Contained condition is in effect.

DM Carbide |

Suddenly, it becomes clear that the astral invaders’ retreat is merely a ploy. More invaders pour through the rifts to reinforce their companions. Their reckless assault tears the holes wider, and the entire demiplane begins to shift and fold. Locations fade and vanish, reappearing miles away, now separated by a wide expanse of barren, rocky wasteland. The invaders continue to pour through, and the tapestry’s exhausted repair mechanisms cease to function altogether. The triumphant attackers converge on the Pathfinders scattered across the wasteland.
Then, the sky turns red.
A primal screech pierces the tapestry, and a colossal ruby-flamed phoenix appears in the sky, its wings nearly blocking the sun. It swoops across the sky at tremendous speed, its tattered feathers leaving a trail of smoke. With another screech, it flaps its massive wings, and countless fiery feathers shoot towards the invaders. As the feathers strike, they explode, incinerating much of the invading force. Then the phoenix turns its attention to the other outsiders—the mass of Pathfinders—and beats its wings once more. A barrage of feathers strikes the wasteland, and from each resulting inferno emerges a bird of pure ruby-red flames.
Aram Zey’s voice echoes. “Can you hear me, Pathfinders? The tapestry is in its death throes! You are cut off—I cannot help you escape. Destroy the phoenixes—perhaps their magic can repair the tapestry!”
Table GMs, the Tapestry’s Last Defense condition is in effect.

Patchouli casts Resist Energy fire with Anointing Oil (20 fire res CL7) and activate her Crystalline Dust for psuedo-Blur miss chance. She then cast Divine Favor, then takes out her potion of Fly

![]() |

Seeing the fiery birds Constantin also casts resist energy (fire) on himself and then uses his wand to cast heightened awareness (which he will use to get the +4 when initiative is rolled), before putting the wand away.

![]() |

FYI, annointing oil increases casting time to a full-round action.
Thanks for the reminder. Whoever introduced me this goodie didn't mention this part....(and it usually doesn't matter when you pre-buff).
Patchouli will take out her potion of Fly later

I assume based on the overseer announcement these would be magical beasts? If so would we be able to identify any information about them?

GM Redelia |

All around, flaming feathers barrage the tapestry. The scattered demiplane natives are unharmed by the inferno, as is the landscape itself. Screeches echo across the ruby-tinted landscape, and the tattered birds of ruby fire close in.
One flaming phoenix, size huge, moves in to attack you.

Constantin knows this creature has strong damage reduction which is bypassed by chaotic weapons. He also knows it has spell resistance, is immune to fire, and vulnerable to cold.

bite: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30
damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13 (not rolling fire damage since Patchouli has resistance)
(immune to banishment effect since passed the first time)
It takes all of you, but your attacks bring down the enormous Phoenix.
The phoenix turns itself into a large flame for an instant. As the flames die down, two tattered red feathers remain.
These feathers are the key to repairing the tapestry. One of you (for each feather) can attempt a Craft (cloth), Heal, Knowledge (arcana or planes), Spellcraft, or Use Magic Device check. This will be a challenging check, and if you fail it, no one else in the party can try. You can pass it to another table and they can try once if you fail.
(this is important enough that I would suggest using things like rerolls (including the one the party earned in the prep rerolls) to try to make sure you pass. There are several of you with high bonuses on one of the relevant skills, so please only try for one feather. You may discuss among yourselves which two of you will try, or two of you with high bonuses may just roll)

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"If this wand is useful for whoever looks at that feather, feel free to use it." says Constantin indicating to his wand of heightened awareness.
I think the best I can manage on one of those skills is probably +17 with knowledge (arcana), with bonuses form heightened awareness, heroism and if pathfinder chronicles are available and an option (i.e. +11 base skill +2 +2 +2) but I'm guessing there may be others who can get better?

GM Redelia |

I forgot to mention one other thing. You have two soul stitches. Each soul stitch lets you roll twice and take the better result on these repair checks. You can use a soul stitch and a reroll on the same check if needed. I also can offer one person a reroll with a +5 bonus from my campaign service coin, and suggest this is a good place to use it if needed.

![]() |

Tarlamera seems a bit stumped by the feather and tears in reality, but considers friends she's met in the past who might be able to help.
I could burn two boons to get a +17 roll, if it would be helpful.

GM Redelia |

[ooc]Orenji has a +15 spellcraft, so Orenji and Patchouli seem to have the best skill bonuses before the use of spells or anything like that.
Constantin's heightened awareness wand won't help, since your best skills are not knowledge checks.
Orenji also has guidance as a level 0 spell prepared, which could give +1 on both checks.
Combining these skill levels with guidance, soul stitches, and rerolls (and there are two available rerolls with +5 bonus) gives a reasonable chance of success.
