I do not see how you saw that as mean, as it was not.

That last post before I posted was from Atirk asking if there had been any updates to the selection process.

Last weekend Atirk was one of the players (in addition to me) typing 'in-character' showing anticipation for the reveal of the selected characters.

Mean would be someone making an alias with a name similar to the GM's alias and trying to trick others into thinking it was the GM posting. I am not suggesting anyone do that, just putting a little contrast comparison to point out that my posts were not mean, and were in character to show enthusiasm for the campaign.

*Any* time a thread is just waiting on a decision, people who are hoping to be selected who see new posts tend to think “New post! This could be it!” That’s especially true when it’s several posts in quick succession, because a GM’s announcement is often followed by multiple “Thanks for picking me” or “Good luck all” type posts. “Mean” is probably not the specific way I’d have said it, but I share the general sentiment. We’re all waiting on the GM’s choices. Any suddenly flurry of activity in the thread is going to be disappointing/frustrating/mean/pick your term if it turns out not to be the thing we’re waiting on.

Good luck all

Ok I'm bored with this waiting and checking everyday, if it's like this in recrutement, I can't see the PbP game going anywhere. So I'm out, please, GM remove my PC from the list of applicants.

I wanted to wait a day before replying so I did not add any more to the count number of new posts yesterday.

Thank you for the explanation.

Apologies to everyone who made the assumption the last two spots might have been posted yesterday.

I, for one, like seeing something here when I check in, even if it isn't the decision yet. :)

I'm dropping out as well.

I am very sorry, but there is regrettably too much going on with me right now to commit to GMing.

Life happens.

When things change on your end do you plan to run this campaign?

I will still be interested if you are, regardless of how long it might be before you are able to commit to GMing it.

I hope whatever it is, that its just too much on your plate and not high-stress/deep sadness life stuff. Good luck.

Alas.

Dark Archive

That happens. I hope everything turns out well.

Ah that’s a shame. It is what it is.

GM Liliyashanina, thank you for making that clear to everyone. RL can do this so I fully understand. And sorry for pushing this, but I had a feeling that was what was going on. RL always comes before or games so please look after yourself and hope all goes well.

Yeah, once things calm down.

Like, I know way more then I should about things like...

Russian nuclear doctrine (like, the document is public after all), so certain things were also really stressfull.

I didn't apply for this game but I hear you on this post! Kept me up at night once I realized what happened happened and what the result could have been, but then you have to realize there's not much that can be done about it, just have to live your life.

Sorry to hear that, I grow up during the cold war, when WW3 was a Sirens call away. And we are all still here, The world has a habit of continuing that we have little control over.

I always say

"I don't trust conspiracy theories, I keep thinking they are hiding something"

And will help

Wise words posted. But well, I hej, I have a well stocked pantry, especially with medicine, now.

I used to have a plaque on my wall titled "Why Worry".

Why worry, either you are sick or you are well. If you are well there is nothing to worry about.
If you are sick, you will either get well or you will die. If you get well there is nothing to worry about.
If you die you either go to heaven or hell. If you go to heaven there is nothing to worry about.

If you go to hell you will be so busy shaking the hands of your friends that you won't have time to worry....

But truly, a couple of decades ago I realized that most of life is out of my control. It took a while but I was able to accept that those things that were out of my control didn't deserve any of my concern. Now I focus on my 'area of control' and play the casual observer to the rest. I can vote for those in public office, accepting that my vote is only one of millions so it has little affect. And I can pray and hope that a higher power is in fact looking over us and possibly helping.

Maybe when R. Daneel Olivaw creates the galactic Gaia it will all be good.... ;-P

I hope nobody is offended by this, but that is also out of my control.

There is admittedly a hard to reach space between maintaining concern and releasing control. I have found that the best way to look at it is, as mentioned above, acknowledging that which you can have affect on and that which is out of your control. Acknowledging your lack of control does not have to be a denial of your feelings or passions. Try to make a space for that while also keeping in mind what you can do. Also, also, each of those can easily try and overwhelm the other. Being a human is tough, give yourself patience and understanding in the form of wiggle room.
