Tomb

Salka gets to her feet and goes after the corpse. Her shield bash critting and destroying the corpse, which takes one final swing out of spite.

Hampton goes after the mummy but can't connect and finfd himself at least partially standing in the open sarcophagus.

Inquity bites back a shout of pain and shrugs off the griffon, keeping ready for the mummy.

"I guess the party's coming to me!" Salka says, with maybe a little less confidence than you'd normally expect from an Ulfen battle cry. "Alright, let's give this prototype all its got!"

She knocks her elbows into her breastplate popping open a pair of hatches and then she flicks a node on her wrist and the hatches send out a burst of fire at the mummy.

Once he has Hampton ushered out of the room, Iniquity draws a feather in the air and presses it into the half-elf, flooding him with vitalizing energy. "Let me meditate for a moment, but if anyone can bandage wounds, please do," he says before inspecting the art in the hall.

Backing out into the room with the narrow path and the comically large hammer, the party hunkers down for an hour or so and heals up.

Once finished inspecting an interesting aspect of the statue, Iniquity dusts off his hands. "The only place I can think to look for the other Pathfinders is in the netherworld. Yawellis said that the last he saw of them was when they were examining one of the stasian devices."

Salka nods. "Yes. There isn't anywhere else left to look. Let's head in to the plane from that device over in the crossway. If we're lucky it'll be similar in architecture there and we'll have a good vantage point to see a few different ways to go. And if it isn't similar... well then it doesn't matter at all where we jump in from anyway!"

It's easy enough to head back past several vises to the crossway and activate the device.

You appear in a dark and greyscale version, that otherwise appears identical to the room you just left.

Salka likewise fumbles around to drink a darkvision elixir with her empty hand. "Well, once I can see something I suspect we should retrace our steps back to where the portal room is on our side. I'm kind of just curious to see what's back there in this realm. Hopefully just a dead end but if this seems identical so far....."

Domwurd will once more try to cast Light, though he expects to have the same results as before. He at least can see it low light conditions, but he lacks any means of getting proper darkvision.

"Though things will look the same, this is a different plane of existence. I would treat every inch of this area as new. There may be new traps, but also new discoveries."

Domwurd's light flickers and sputters but does not completely go out this time. Half normal radius.

Just to make sure we're on the same page, you walked back from Hammerface to the Crossway and ported to the shadowplane from there. We're on slide 4 now.

Much like the normal pyramid, there are heavy closed doors that are not locked. Other than things being drained of their color, it being dark and your light barely working, things seem largely identical to the pyramid you'd been exploring.

Opening the door to the baths reveals a tiny, fragile bubble of light amid the crushing gloom of this room held up by a human woman holding a wayfinder. Shadows fill three tubs here, spilling oppressively over the sides and a spooky figure lounges nearby.

The woman calls out "Pathfinders! I knew you'd come eventually."

The other figure smiles warmly “Ah, you must be the heroes my friend was so sure would come to rescue her, or perhaps just more lost lambs in need of help?”

The Pathfinder looks like they've been hiding out from undead in a Pyramid for hours. Disheveled and uncomfortable but okay in the larger scheme of things despite some painful looking but superficial gashes on their arms.

The figure smiles "I am Glurorchaes, I've been helping your friend here, protecting them, keeping them safe. Perhaps I can help you too? Like those trapped little Ustalavs who needed a way out? Such a lovely place, Ustalav. I quite recommend a visit there if you have a chance. I'm happy to help show you and your friend how to get home if you haven't already figured it out.”

Janahar speaks up "It's true. Glurorchaes here has kept me safe. I got separated from Tetabu here in the Shadow Plane. Have you seen him? Is he okay? How about Yawellis? Can you get me out of here, I'm exhausted? I'm sure Glurorchaes could be of help to you too."

Janahar does not seem to be under any sort of compulsion. Glurorchaes certainty wants something but it doesn't seem to involve anything grisly.

Glourorchaes is an Ostiarius. A type of Velstrac(Fiend) Velstracs are horrific, shadow-dwelling fiends who seek ultimate sensation through self-mutilation. They transcend their stoic detachment only when inflicting pain and terror upon their victims, practicing new forms of debasement and torture before then turning their knives on themselves. (They were previously called Kytons.)

Glourorchaes smiles, "I'm so happy to hear you've managed to sort out those devices. I would be more than happy to assist you in finding your lost companion. A vicious melee against the undead is not exactly my forte but I can help bring out the best of those around me, helping push through their fear and pain, to be the best they can. To be the best you can."

Janahar gives a half sigh "By Desna's blessed flight I'm glad Yawellis made it home. I hate not to be able to do anything for Tetabu, but I'm in no shape to fight. not even sure I could run away if needed. I'm exhausted. I hope they found somewhere else to hole up, and it's not too late for them."

Glourorchaes follows up "Do you have somewhere safe to stash Tetabu, or a way to send them home? There are vicious undead hordes out there, and I have promised to keep them safe."

Iniquity tightens his mouth and then arches an eyebrow as if ruminating over some puzzle in his mind. Then he says, "We appreciate the kindness you have shown our fellow Pathfinder. We can send him home and then return to search for Tetabu."

Glourorchaes continues to smile "No objections at all, they are certainty not my prisoner. I promised to keep them safe until they were rescued from this place. While I would not say I'm in a rush to be rid of them, I take my obligations seriously."

Janahar half looks apologetically to Glourorchaes "They are uhh a little strange, but have indeed kept me safe. Not soft and relaxing like one of Calistria's bath houses but certainty better than being torn to shreds by the undead."

Glourorchaes smiles and shrugs, not seemingly being offended at being called strange.

Glurorchaes doesn't seem to be plotting any sort of treachery, he seems understanding that you might be worried though and it seems likely he'd agree to reasonable stipulations if you were feeling paranoid.

I have no need of you to transit me, I'm not stuck seeking your release if that's what you think, I'm perfectly capable of using the Vises myself, I'm quite familiar with portals between planes, the nearest is about 40 feet, east, north east of here. If you have a way out for Janahar from this side I have no objections, I just don't know of any that don't go back through the Universe first."

Glourorchaes joins you in using the vise to swap over to the Universe and heading back to the portal room and sending Janahar home through the desert path.

Glourorchaes makes no effort to try and spy on your use of the slate or otherwise interfere with the process.

Smiling, seemingly pleased with himself Glourorchaes speaks again "Thank you for helping fulfill my obligation to Janahar. They were so lovely. Perhaps our relationship can grow over time. In the meanwhile lets go find your other missing Pathfinder. From what Janahar told me, if they are still alive, I suspect they'd be on the Shadowplane, but I'm more than happy to follow whatever path you choose in your search."

It's not trouble to walk through the normal version of the pyramid to the Hammerface room and use the Vise there to swap to the Shadowplane.

There instead of a pair of double doors to the north there is a carving that depicts a scarab with a closed wing case. Adventuring equipment—the contents of a ruined backpack—lies scattered everywhere.

An umbral hound the size of a horse with pure white eyes growls at you as you appear. Additionally an amulet amongst the debris floats into the air as a spectral body manifests weaing the necklace, it's right hand sparking with electricity, and its eyes filled with dead.

Not getting a good grip with its teeth it barks wildly.
