It appears you all use this same thread for each game even with a different game master. How does the new GM post the link to their slides for their game? Do they just put it in the header of their profile? Curious to know how it's done.

Chronicle looks good. Thanks for running!
| GM TOP |
Let me know when close to ready Paloma, I’ll have one last gameplay post to put out for the transition.
| bluedove |
I can get the opening up in a few hours, slides probably tomorrow. Chronicle looks good! No anti-plague though... sadness. The partial remove disease wand is nice though. Thanks for running!
| GM TOP |
Cool, chuck it in there whenever ready then.
Sobek Al Saleef

Oh! A new game is starting! Ok, awesome.
Whoops. Looks like Ryul is back. Am i not needed anymore? It's totally fine if that's the case. Just call on me whenever needed.
| GM TOP |
Ryul is me, the previous GM. You are still needed.
| bluedove |
Right, Sobek wasn't a temporary replacement for Ryul. He's a permanent replacement for Nal, if that works for you. We rotate the job of GM, so Ryul was otherwise occupied while GM TOP ran the game. Now I will run, so Paloma will be busy offstage.
Hopefully roll4initiative will take a turn as GM eventually too? How soon will Sobek reach level 5?
Sobek Al Saleef

Okay cool. I can play in this one. Yay!
I'll hit Level 5 after this scenario.
| bluedove |
So this is my first run of a scenario since the paizo.com revamp... Where do we find the secondary success conditions now? The url in the guild guide is no good. Do I just send out the equivalent faction missions?
Cashel O'Brien

On the 'old' community website (i.e. this one):
My Account > Digital Content (and sign-in)
Then under: Paizo Inc.: Free Resources
You should find - Pathfinder Society: Secondary Success Conditions Document (provided you added it to your account before)
I hope that helps!
| bluedove |
Ah, ok got it! Thanks Luke! ^_^

So -- not doing the greatsword then. Good to know.
Just the silvered warhammer then
Just out of curiosity:
Why the one-handed warhammer and not the two-handed heavy flail? (Which btw. is NOT the favored weapon of Zon-Kuthon, that would be the spiked chain.)Comparison heavy flail vs. warhammer:
- higher damage die (D10 vs. D8 or 2D8 vs. 2D6 when enlarged!)
- double crit range (but lower multiplier: 19-20/x2 instead of 20/x3)
- two special features (disarm and trip)
The only reason why Cortina doesn't have a heavy flail is that her class (cleric) is not proficient with any martial weapons.
Her proficiency with the battleaxe, the heavy pick, and the warhammer comes from her dwarven heritage - and that is the only reason why she uses (some of) them instead of simple weapons (e.g. light/heavy mace, morningstar, sickle, shortspear, etc.).

Should I get an adamantine heavy flail instead of a mithril or silvered one? Does adamantine overcome DR/silver?
Cortina Hagen
|
And there's no advantage in making bludgeoning weapons out of mithral instead of alchemical silver. Because bludgeoning weapons do not suffer the -1 damage penalty that piercing and slashing wepons get.
That's why my standard campaign barbarian has a silvered Earthbreaker - which unfortunately isn't CORE - and a cold iron Nodachi as backup weapons for his adamantine doorknocker. ;-)
Mithral becomes expensive very quickly with increasing weapon weight...

Flail can be classed as an alternative favoured weapon for Zon Kuthon - at least from what I read on Archives of Nethys, and Jack does not want to annoy Desna - maybe he has a secret 'thing' for her. It's an RP thing. But if Cayden says it's okay then it's okay with Jack.
Cashel O'Brien
|
I must admit, I am generally quite partial to the 'adamantine lockpick' when getting an extra weapon ;-)
Regarding flails, at least in CORE, there is definitely no association between heavy flails and Zon-Kuthon (and even in the 'Standard' campaign the association is shaky at best - the spiked chain is Zon-Kuthon's canonical favoured weapon).
Kuthites can gain a bonus from self-flagellation (in Standard), but that doesn't require a flail (whips and chains would be more commonly used in that regard)...
The only vaguely 'core' deity with a 'thing' for flails would be Groetus.

Hey, everyone. Just letting you all know that I'll be heading out to the mountain forest of eastern Arizona from Thursday (tomorrow) to Saturday for some much needed R&R/camping. (Mountain forests in Arizona? Whaaat?! Lol.) I'll be spending time with my hunny, so I may not be able to post when expected. Possibly not at all depending on internet connectivity. Feel free to bot me, if necessary.

I don’t think GMs get to do a dayjob check. At least I haven’t been doing one when I GM. I could be wrong though.

Was that first devil high enough CR (3 or more) to qualify for this FJC?
Defeat an outsider that has the evil subtype or an undead creature whose CR is at least equal to your character level.

I looked for anything disallowing it in the Guild Guide but didn't find anything. Luke, confirm/deny?

And yes, he was a CR 5. Huzzah!

GM's don't get a day job check. (I was a Venture Agent for 12 years).
There's a boon called Extra Hours (I have one from the 2018 RSP) that allows a GM to make day job checks on one of his characters the Boon is applied to.

From the current (Season 10) guide, p. 17:
"The GM’s character
does not engage in Downtime activity."
Thanks for the discussion; I hadn't known that, and will have to correct a couple of my GM credit chronicles.
| bluedove |
Noted! Thanks for letting me know and for pointing me to the proper rule, John. I GM so rarely these days I don't remember procedure from one time to the next. (Google AI gives the WRONG answer if you search this question. XD)
I will get working on Chronicles. Feel free to post any scenario wrap up in the meantime. I reported on a Gameday event last time, I think we are all just putting our own event codes on these otherwise?
Paul Montrose
|
You put your own event code on it, and also report it on the Google form linked in the Flaxseed header--so we can keep track of the number of PFS1E games taking place on the boards.

True, but as long as everyone takes a turn before we roll around to the next cycle, it should be fine.**
(**Just trying to make sure Kaervek78 doesn't feel pressured to run, if they aren't quite ready to do so.)

Is there a list of GM order?
I need to continue marking off which scenarios I've played and GM'd.
Also, if you all are up for it, when my turn comes around to GM, I do have several full-length, 64 page PFS Sanctioned adventures. A couple of them we are currently in tier for.

Not really--we have the order we went in first time around, but we've already deviated from it on the second pass. Original order was:
Luke_Parry
kaervek78

Pete H.

Me
Second pass so far:

There are three of us who haven't taken our second turn, plus you.

Ok, thanks. Well, I do plan on sticking around with this group. I'm completely fine with waiting until my turn to GM and will suggest a few full-length adventure when the opportunity comes up.

Thank you so much Paul for researching or tracking that!
I have added a section to our tracking document that lists who has already run things. That should be pretty easy to keep up to date, though it won't list 'who' still needs to run in each round, other than by process of elimination. So if any of the four that haven't gone in our second round want to volunteer, have at it.
Also, after we get our chronicles, everyone should be at least level 4. I just want to add that this is a great group and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
And thank you for doing an excellent job on this mission, bluedove!
| bluedove |
It has been very nice to run with a group for an extended period. Party dynamics and camaraderie tend to be non-existent in most PFS pick-up games. Thanks for putting us together, Pete!
I came close to having Chronicles ready but my time is up for today. Should be able to get them up for you on Thursday.
Feel free to assume that Ollysta and Yargos meet you at the entrance to the tunnels and give her a report!
When I check off goals on the reporting form, it's just A and B for Primary and Secondary, right?

You'll need to find the Secondary Success Conditions pdf.
Since the A, B, C, D reporting doesn't matter after the season is done.
Let me see if I can find a copy.
Edit: Ugh! I got the dreaded "You backtracked too far" notification after posting it here. I'm just going to submit a screenshot to the slides so you can see what the primary and secondary success conditions are.
It's posted on slide 2.

Hmmm... Looks like we might have failed the secondary success condition, then. If so, I will use the 'Prized Find' boon to ensure I get the missing PP.
I *really* want to get to 18 Fame!
| bluedove |
Well, I mean, we didn't really help with the merchant... the GM even said Zadrian handed over a large sack of gold.
I would be very happy to be wrong, though!
We had diplomacy rolls to help out. Everyone rolled it like they were contributing an aid another, but when that happens I usually just use the first roll or highest bonus as the primary roll. It worked out.
The item she was bargaining for was a Phylactery of Negative Channeling and I had her pay him "eight" (thousand) which is still a large amount of gold but a significant discount from what it actually costs. I wouldn't have let it go by without prompting you if it hadn't already been resolved. ^_~
Since the A, B, C, D reporting doesn't matter after the season is done.
So I guess I don't check any of the alphabet boxes then?

Nope. ;)
Unless the scenario specifically tells you so at the end. I'm pretty sure those are season 5 scenarios and after.
You'll see something like "Check box A if the PCs successfully haggled with the Gilman merchant. Check Box B if the PCs killed the merchant."

Well, who wants to run next is probably the most pressing question right now ;-)
Maybe after Outpost wraps up...I'm still running two games and playing a third, although the ones I'm running are close to the end.
