Reaching Rings the Rogue |
Ignoring the pain from the pincer, Reaching Rings responds with a pair of quick rapier thrusts, the first of which is perfectly timed, then calls out to the druid. “Bottlespeaker! One fled outside! Don’t let him get away!” They then draw a shortbow, in preparation for ranged combat in pursuit of the last gremlin.
1st attack (rapier): 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 11 + 1 = 30 Damage (piercing): 2d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5, 6) + 4 + 1 = 16

Strike*2 (all rolls include +1 from Inspire Courage), Interact*

Popcorn the Barbarian |
Popcorn moves to just west of the fleeing jinkin. This takes one Stride action assuming the hole is large enough for Popcorn to fit through easily; otherwise she goes around via the door, taking two Stride actions. She then attacks the fleeing jinkin (twice if she still has two actions left).

Fluff Fang the Leshy Bard |
"Sounds like you're having fun up there. I'll just wait down here while you finish up."
Fluff Fang looks around the pit and casts light upon themselves to get a better view.
Fluff Fang continues to Inspire Courage for their allies.

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
Rings
Your thrust is devastating as you fully skewer the gremlin besides you, making it pay for the injury it inflicted on you.
You took it down with a single strike.
bottlespeaker
Your reaction to the escaping gremlin is fast, and your aim is true. You send your beam straight into the gremlin, burning it with cold.
Popcorn
You run around the outside of the building, going as fast as you can. Perhaps it was bottlespeaker’s attack that had slowed the gremlin down, but you reach it on time and crush it under your burning flail.
Fluff Fang
the pit is relatively empty, except for the knives on the floor. The walls are smooth for the most part. But somewhere on the other end there seems to be a little more texture to them.
The gremlins are down.

Reaching Rings the Rogue |
With all the jinkins down, Reaching Rings turns their attention to the problem of the pit. Taking out a long coil of rope, the fungus attaches one end around a heavy crate and lowers the other end down into the pit. “In any eventuality, here is a rope for climbing upwards or downwards, depending on whether or not there is anything worth investigating in the pit. Meanwhile I shall search the jinkins for any information as to what might have transpired here.” So saying, Rings examines each of the gremlins for anything of interest.
Perception +10 to search bodies

Fluff Fang the Leshy Bard |
Fluff Fang will take a closer look at the textured wall, barring anything interesting they will climb the rope back up to their allies.
"Just going to take a peek at this wall here, and then I'll be on my way up."
Fluff fang will try to carefully step towards the textured wall to inspect it, if they don't see anything interesting they will climb up on the crate with the rope attached
Perception +9 to inspect the textured wall

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
Rings
There is little of useful information on the jinkins. Each of them is wearing a metallic pincer claw in their hands that looks as if it was made from scrap, and one of them is wearing a pair of red boots of elvenkind with no elven patterns on them. The patterns in their skin also suggest that they haven’t been in the material plane for long.
Fluff Fang
Unfortunately, there is nothing remarkable about the texture. Just a few rocks sticking out slightly from the wall, which would have made that side easier to climb. No need for them having the rope, and your friends helping you by pulling you out. In no time you are back up besides them.

Reaching Rings the Rogue |
After searching all the jinkins, Reaching Rings reports “In accordance with the theory that the breach is a recent occurrence, these fae have not been in the material plane for too long, which makes it more troubling that they have been able to achieve so much mischief in such a limited period of time. I can only hypothesize what happened to the humans who lived in this camp.”
The fungus pulls off a pair of red boots of elvenkind and shows them to the others. “I conjecture that these painted cowhides may be a magical item of potential significance, in addition to being stylish footwear. But let us examine these crates first so that we may refine our theories about the events of this place.” Rings systematically searches the contents of all the crates, leaving it to the others to examine the boots (or anything else) in greater detail.
Perception +10 to search the crates. If no one else wants the boots, Rings will take them.

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
As you pull Vilm’s boots, you see that he is wearing a pair of matching-red, stinking socks.
The boxes are filled with axes, saws, scythes, sickles, leather gloves, working belts, canned goods and more to keep the harvesting operation going. Not that it did much for the workers when the jinkins came.

Reaching Rings the Rogue |
“All of this equipment confirms our theory that this is the campsite for the humans’ harvesting operation, but where are the humans themselves? If they were killed by the gremlins, where are the bodies? The jinkins appear too few and too thin to have eaten them all. Perhaps they were magically teleported to another location? Or perhaps flying beasts carried them away?” Reaching Rings scours the entire campsite for clues as to where the humans may have gone.
Search (Perception): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Searching for tracks or any other signs of the humans.

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
There are a few personal belonging around the camp, some clothes, some tools, nothing of value. There's also some bloodied bandages and unguents from their safety kit that have been used, probably from work related "accidents".
What happened with the red boots?

Fluff Fang the Leshy Bard |
"Much appreciated Bottlespeaker, those spikes really did a number on my legs. It is curious as to where eveyone got off too."
Fluff Fang will examine the campsite with everyone else, trying to find traces of where everyone went.
"Those boots are beautiful, you can definitely pull off their look Reaching Rings."

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
As you start walking with the red boots of elvenkind you can't help but sense the discomfort of pebble inside them.

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
No matter how much you shake the boots, nothing falls from them. And every time you put them back on, the same discomfort is there. It switches places every time. It even switches boots. But the sense of having a pebble inside them is unmistakably there.

Fluff Fang the Leshy Bard |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Seems like the item has the world's weirdest curse. Nothing like the eternal torment of having a pebble in your shoe."
"Oh that's literally the worst. I remember one time, I was fighting different group of Jinkins, and I actually had a rock in my shoe. I don't remember most of the fight because every time they attacked I would dodge the wrong way trying to avoid the pain in my little feet."
Fluff Fang subconsciously lifts their foot up and begins rubbing it as though remembering that fight a little too vividly.

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
It takes you a while to find any tracks left by the jinkins, but as you start moving outside the camp area, and into softer ground, you pick up their foot-tracks. It is not a long trail, and within 15-minutes it takes you to an area where plants and fungi in a rainbow of colours sprout from the ground. It is a chaotic frenzy of colour illuminated by a surreal light coming out of a glowing violet portal.
You can all place your tokens in the starting squares. Squares with foliage are difficult terrain, and everyone has -1 on saving throws against primal magic.

Reaching Rings the Rogue |
Reaching Rings sits on a log and puts their feet up in a vain attempt to find relief from the accursed pebble in their boots. “I theorize that the breach itself is unlikely to feel like anything at all, though the effect might well prove to be an interesting experience, for the obvious deduction is that it would transport you to the First World. Or possibly another plane of unbridled chaotic energy. Or simply kill you. All worthwhile experences, to be sure, but none of which would help you to close this breach.”
The fungus scrutinizes the surrounding area. “For this breach to remain open, it must seed itself and take root in our plane. We must find the flora it is using to anchor itself to our plane.”
Nature (identify anchor): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 Note Rings has Dubious Knowledge.

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
There are no obvious signs of the seed from that distance. But your movement around the area does catch the attention of a humanoid creature wearing iron boots and a pointy red hat. He is also holding a scythe in his hands.

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
"Oh, just the ush', workin' on expanding the turf. And this beauty of a gate right here, mua, perfect opportunity to do so."

Reaching Rings the Rogue |
“The gate is beautiful indeed,” Reaching Rings agrees. “Beautiful and potentially dangerous. Do you have any theories as to where or what this gate is anchored to?”

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
He stands still looking at Popcorn, suddenly quiet, and adjusts his grip on the scythe. He is frightened 1. After a long and awkward silence he only adds. ”I don’t like you lil’ leshy. And I won’t tell you nothin’ about the gate. Now leave, before I start cleanin’ my turf, if you catch my drift.”
Rings
You are sure that this is a fey from the first world, but whether it is a gimmerling, redcap or pukwudgie is difficult to say.

Reaching Rings the Rogue |
Reaching Rings sighs as Popcorn engages in diplomacy. “I suppose this means it’s clobbering time.” Resigned to an inevitable battle, the fungus grips their rapier in one hand and pulls out a putrid sack of rotting fruit in the other. With both food and weapon ready, Rings slips behind a bush and hides, waiting to launch an ambush when battle is joined.

Leshy GM Delta Arena |
The humanoid creature agrees with you.

Oh, that's weird, I was editing the post, idk why it reposted. The second one is the relevant one. The one under Leshy GM. Sorry about that.

Reaching Rings the Rogue |
Reaching Rings immediately rushes back to Popcorn’s aid, attacking the restraining jinkin with a quick one-two of their rapier. The first strike is hasty and way off-target, but the second is better. “Just trying to return the favor,” the fungus quips.
