Wild - yeah it never crossed my mind to loot a ship we were planning on bringing people back to, and no foreshadowing that we would need to - let alone that they would be ghosts on the mothership. The captain was a bit of a surprise, but that didn't seem to involve mcguffins so... all good but the writers sort of made some interesting assumptions :p

The writhing solarian is a terrible sight to behold. The poor lashunta looks to be blinded by his own solarian aura, but seems to respond to sound. He looks deeply haunted, almost as if this person is on the brink of dying in the traumatic fashion that would create a ghost.

Brutag points out that Aurinkar is, in fact, still alive, but probably can't handle this torment for much longer. His sould already seems to be detaching.

Diplomacy to soothe Aurinkar, Mysticism to drain the mystic energy

The Doctor's soothing voice seems to calm down the struggling solarian, causing the light sphere to flicker, turn a brighter yellow, and eventually disappear. The lashunta collapses on the floor, and Doc's monitoring of vial signs shows that the Lashunta's blood pressure has dropped rapidly, and the machine that goes beep gives off a long, monotonous beep, indicating a flatliner.

We're losing him, doc!
Worse still, a creature, looking like a squat skeleton intertwined with an incorporeal stretched out ghost appears, taking advantage of the chaos. Light itself seems to bend around it, creating something of a lensing effect when it moves. Towards the starfinders, that is...

Single Lariat indeed. Shari has a good look at the creature, and recognises it as a Vorthuul, also known as the answer to 'what if somebody who fell into a black hole came back as an undead?'

I'll take vorthuul for 1000, Alex

The whole creature is a ripped apart quantum duality, both a wave and a particle, both a corporeal and a ghost. Crushing tranquility or everburning essence. It affects space and time itself, bending light and attracting. These creatures are rare, and Shari can not tell too much about it, just that one of the quantum states in which it can exist makes it immune to bludgeoning, force damage as well as very resistant to mental effects.

Mr. Bison swings at it, but the gravity well changes the trajectory of his greataxe, and the barathu misses.

Tracy tries to help the solarian, but is in need of help himself.

Sighing as if gathering courage, Shari says, Oh Nocticula, we're in trouble... Do not use bludgeoning and force attacks against it! Then she remembers that she is still a proud representative of the House Misraria and the mighty Drow race... She is a woman in the end and should show men an example of courage (as well as intelligence, wisdom, self-control, ambition and everything else that males always lack). So, having returned a haughty expression to her face, Shari Misraria walks forward with a graceful gait, taking out a grenade on the move and casually tossing it in her hand several times (double move).

GM, I have a rules question. Brutag can move, and then charge as a standard action. Normally you can't charge if there is any ally in the way. If he was a medium creature, Brutag could just charge the lower 5 foot path towards the creature. Since he is large, Shari partially blocks him. However, Brutag has the Tight Fit feat. Can Brutag charge the creature? If not he will just double move forward.

If Shari stays around the corner, Brutag can make it. At the beginning of the round, Brutag does not have line of sight. For his move action, Brutag would move 45 feet towards the creature. Then, once he's in the hallway (and now has line of sight), he can charge as a standard action, stopping within 15 feet of the creature to attack with his reach and pike.

Charge Attack:
Blitz soldier, level 5 ability: As a standard action, you can make a charge without the charge penalties (see page 248), and you can substitute a bull rush for the melee attack at the end of the charge. When you gain the soldier’s onslaught class feature, you can make two attacks instead of one at the end of your charge, both with a –4 penalty.

Shari tosses a grenade at the anomaly, and the sticky strands just seems to home in on the undead, warping and stretching out into sticky bands of spaghetti as they attach.

Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 Oi!

Tracy also confirms this is a Vorthuul, and confirms the weakness to bludgeoning and laser weapn due to its space-time distortion. Standing close to it may make you marginally younger, but also exposes you to the melee attack of the creature, which may cause the effects of being crushed by a singularity, which is as unpleasant as it sounds. Being caught in the singularity would immediately make you pinned and staggered, unless you're strogn enough to get out I.e. make a Fort save - once you're in the effect you'd need a Athletics check or a Strength check to get out.

It's fortunate that Mr. Bison was just missed by that claw attack.

Speaking of Mr. Bison, the Barathu retaliates for the attempt to consume him by striking out hard. A bit too wild, but the cryopike hits in the end, dealing some low-entropy damage

Special combat maneuver: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (20) + 19 = 39 All creatures within 30 feet are dragged toward the Vorthuul. Compare the result (39) with your KAC+4. You getdragged in 5 feet, plus another for each increment of 5 that the rool exceeds KAC+4. For example, Shari gets pulled in 39 - 17 - 4: 16 -> 1 square + 3 squares (three increments). I've adjusted positions.

The creature flares up, bending space in the room to amplify grvaity itself, and sucking everyone in. Brutag, Tracy, Shari, and the Doctor all fall toward the singularity, radiating some blue light in the process and feeling slightly spaghettier. Mr. Bison is so close that he gets clobbered in the process

Mr. Bison Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

It just occurred to me that Zangief should be rolling fortitude saves also. I believe he should make three? That is if the creature's ability affects objects.

Zangief Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Zangief Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Zangief Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Zangief moves itself and Mr. Bison into a flanking position with Brutag guarded step and then jabs at the skeleton with its cryopike. Mr. Bison swings again with his supercharged and red hot greataxe.

"Attack me if you dare, I will crush you."

Greataxe + Flanking vs. Skeleton KAC: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 11 + 2 = 25
Slashing Damage: 3d6 + 12 + 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4) + 12 + (6, 1, 6, 5) = 40
Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Cryopike + Flanking vs. Skeleton EAC: 1d10 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 2 = 20
Cold Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Brutag smiles as his comrade steps onto the flank. Then he full attacks with his pike.

Pike vs KAC: 1d20 + 13 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 13 - 4 + 2 = 17
Pike damage: 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21 piercing damage

Pike vs KAC: 1d20 + 13 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 13 - 4 + 2 = 25
Pike damage: 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21 piercing damage

The first Fort save was a direct attack on Mr Bison, not on Zangief. He Zangief needs only two Fort saves (for half damage), one for last round and one for this round.

Tracy finds his line insufficient (I assumed the securign was for flavoronly - you can secure yourself if you have the equipment and spend the standard action engineering a solution)

Mr Bison retaliates, trying to cleave the singular creature in two, and nearly succeeding. This axe connect with the event horizon of the creature with a bang, and Zangief crypike sends a shock of stellar cold through the creature.

Shari tries to trick the dark monster to no avail, but her laser shot hits, and when Brutag steps in with two monstrous strikes of himself, his final hit bring the singularity to an end. The creature explodes in a flash of bright light, filling the ship with an expanding pulse of nebulous energy that counteracts the dark aura filling it.

With a humming motion, the ship fully returns to the material plane, purging the dark, corrupted drift bubble in which it was caught...

Combat over. Mission success! Can you all roll day job rolls, please? I'll post the conclusion tomorrow

I still didn't understand what this monster was dangerous about, except that it pulled us to it. Were we lucky with the dices? Is this monster in AA by the way? I'd like to read about it.

It was a slightly powered-down version of this monster Vorthuul. The direct attacks would have been potentially crippling, but passing fort saves helps a lot.
