Safely away from the heat, the Pathfinders examine the dragon's hoard!
There are dozens of gold-plated household objects, at least a thousand gold pieces in loose coins, a gold-plated adamantine battle axe, a gold-plated brooch, a gold-plated horn, and a small, gold-plated metal box containing three orange potions.

Sorry about the spoiler-violation before; my attention was divided....
"This is nothing special," He says of the box; inscrutable as he is, you get the sense he's a little disappointed.
He gingerly picks up the axe, and makes a scratch through the gold, revealing a strip of glittering blackness beneath. "Ah-ha! Starmetal! Good!" He drops it near Rawk, since it is closer to his level Rogarch.
He then looks over the brooch. "Ah, this is meant to absorb certain attacks favored by both arcane and psychic practitioners - within limits. I'm not certain how strong it is."
Finally, he examines the horn. Ah, now this is a little more interesting! He blows the horn - through his mask, somehow - and in addition to a somewhat comical sound, it generates a a sudden puff of dense fog, enveloping everyone nearby!
"Fun AND useful, and with hardly any limit to its use!" He cheerfully announces as the cloud slowly drifts away.

Rogarch snags one of the potions of Cure Moderate Wounds and keeps it handy in a ready pocket.
"Is everyone ready to dash across the bridge?"
"Goran perhaps you can go ahead to open the door first when is everyone is ready."
The Bloodrager buffs herself again with her Shield wand right before the dash and stuffs it in her pocket.
I am hoping that the Run action will help us from taking damage. :)
I am assuming that it has been at least a couple more minutes for Goran to retrieve all the stuff and identify it so my original Shield spell and Mirror Image have probably expired. :)

ninja'd by Rogarch, will edit.
Sad that none of the potions helped sooth the heat, ting picked up one of the vials and slipped it in his pouch. Nodding his beak in agreement with the half-orc, "I's is bloody well ready, wroight."
Hearing her recommend the cleric open the door, ting lulls his tongue in a tengu smile, and looks at Goran. ""At's a floggin' fine ideas!"

GM Jhaeman |

With synchronized timing, Goran opens the door just as his fellow Pathfinders race across the bridge and into the building to escape the heat! Inside is a small, 10x15’ ledge high above a pit filled with gold coins! A similarly-sized platform lies across the pit to the north where a door stands partially open in the far wall. A rope stretches across the pit, secured by pitons to the walls next to the doors in the north and south walls. The ceiling ends in high arches above the platforms.
But just as the Pathfinders get their bearings, a massive, snake-like monstrosity magically manifests in the pit!
We will move to Initiative.

On your turn, as a free action, you can attempt to identify the big snake with a Knowledge (dungoneering) check.

"T'anks Goran!" As they bolt through the door, ting thanks the cleric for holding it open for them. Noting the rope he notices the door on the otherside is cracked a bit, pointing his exotic bastard sword with his right talon, "Who's 'at bloke?" and as the serpent figure appears he asks, "An wha' tha bloody-'ell is 'at t'ing wroight?" As he asks his question he reaches back with his left talon, drawing a chakram, and throws it at the creature.
Does the coins look safe to stand on? sadly ting does not have reach weapon and I fear the provokes an AoO, move action, draws a chakram Attack: chakram
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28 damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

GM Jhaeman |

Ting reacts with startling speed, hurling a chakram that cuts into the giant snake's tail!
Ting's attack hit for full damage.
@Ting: The gold coins look safe to stand on, judging by how much the big snake must weigh and that it doesn't sink into them.

Seeing his chakram strike the Naga, ting lulls his tongue in a tengu smile and point towards the serpent like thing, "'At's a floggin' dark naga, wroight. Be carefully '''ey's lioke ta scare and dominate folk's. An if'n' 'ey's boight ya tha poison can bloody well put you ta sleep."

RawkNRole |

Rawk-N-Role checks out his opponent and then attempts to earth glide into the platform itself as he can see no way to actively engage the giant snake creature.
He will rely on his mistress to let him know that he is truly needed before emerging.
@GM Jhaeman - I am going with the assumption that the platform is made out of stone to have survived for so long. If not surely the walls are. If not please let me know and I will revise Rawk-N-Role's actions. I would say that he is more than slightly out of his weight class here. ;)

![]() |

Rogarch steps up next to Ting and tosses a huge ball of snow and ice at the Dark Naga. She then draws her lucerne hammer (reach weapon) in case the creature approaches.
Snowball, To hit flatfooted Touch AC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Rawk-N-Role racks his brain to attempt to remember what he might know about the snake creature.
Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
I am hoping that this creature is only an illusion as a Dark Naga is no joke in a 4-6 adventure but I am not optimistic about it considering our previous opponent. :)

GM Jhaeman |

As Candledark begins mistily floating over the gap, Rawk sinks into the platform for safety. Meanwhile, his mistress tosses a magical snowball that hits the naga hard!
Rogarch's spell attack hit and did full damage.
Goran is up.

Well. I'm not going to go down there and get in close with that...unless necessary... Goran says as he gets out his crossbow and loads a bolt.

GM Jhaeman |

Managing to catch the naga before it gets its bearings, Goran sinks a heavy bolt into it! But despite being wounded, it responds with a display of magical might, sending a lightning bolt back at the cleric!
Goran's attack hits the naga's flat-footed AC. You all notice the naga seems oddly sluggish.
The naga casts lightning bolt at Goran. Goran, please attempt a DC 16 Reflex save with a +2 bonus from cover. If you fail the save, you take 22 damage. If you make the save, you take 11 damage. (also, please update your tagline--I believe you did some healing after the dragon battle, so you'll need to scroll back to see how much)

Not seeing any other viable options to use his favorite weapon, ting turns to the others, "I's'l be wroight back." Spreading his arms he steps off the edge of the platform.
Gliding to the pile of gold right below him, ting quickly sets his feet. Grasping his exotic bastard sword in two talons he chops at the dark naga.

Rogarch looks impressed and even a little bit surprised as Ting effortlessly floats down to attack their opponent.
"By the gods!"
Nice one. I was not expecting that. :)

GM Jhaeman |

Shocking everyone, Ting glides like a bird into the pit! The dark naga reacts instinctively, its fangs grazing the the tengu's leg before the creature suffers a deep sword wound!
Meanwhile, across the pit, the cultist on the other side of the door slams it resoundingly shut!
Agreed, very cinematic!
Ting's dive provokes an AoO, which hits with a natural 20 (crit threat does not confirm). Ting, you take 6 damage.
Ting's attack hits and all the damage goes through.
The door on the far side of the pit is now closed.

Rogarch decides to yet again push the big easy button. She shifts her pole-arm to one hand and draws forth her nearly depleted wand of Magic Missile. With a single word of power three missiles stream towards the Dark Naga.

GM Jhaeman |

As Candledark lands safely on the far platform, the pit below is the site of a furious battle! Although bleeding and battered, the dark naga brings its poison-tipped stinger around in a bid to put Ting to sleep . . . forever!
The dark naga is doing a stinger attack on Ting. Result: Ting, you cop a natural 20 (that does not confirm) for 8 points of damage. In addition, you need to make a DC 19 Fortitude save vs a poison/sleep effect or immediately fall into a deep sleep.

Rogarch looks on with alarm as Ting falls victim to the poison from the snake's venom. An idea comes to her and she activates her wand of Magic Missile for the last time. She sends one of her missiles at Ting to wake him up from the slumber and the other two at the giant snake creature.
"Wake up. This is no time to get sleepy. Sorry about this!"
Magic Missile vs Ting: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Magic Missile CL5 (2 missiles) vs the Dark Naga: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 2 = 8
Rogarch drops her now fully expended wand and it falls to rest on top of the mound of gold coins. She puts her lucerne hammer away for now.

RawkNRole |

Rawk-N-Role can feel his mistress' tension and the vibrations of Ting hitting the ground. The faithful (but slow) familiar begins to earth glide through the stone walls of the building towards the Tengu. He cannot quite close the distance in one go and remains submerged in the wall for now.
Double Move (Earth Glide 40 feet)

![]() |

On the one hand, Rogarch: Kudos, I'm pretty sure that is the first time I have ever seen magic missile's multi-target option put to use - OTOH, I'll be surprised if dark naga-venom turns out to be a normal sleep effect....
Candledark does his best to hide behind the very ledge he stands on as he peers over the edge...
Stealth, if possible: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
...and focuses on the monster beneath him, which erupts in oily fuschia flames!
spontaneous immolation, DC 18: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6) = 8

![]() |

Clearly it is a GM call but if a poison effect causes sleep then a person should be able to be roused awake by damage (or a good slap). This is in contrast to being rendered unconscious by a poison otherwise why have two different conditions for the same game effect. At least that is what I think. :)

GM Jhaeman |

Rogarch's crumbling wand has just enough power to simultaneously awaken Ting and blast the naga with magical force! Candledark adds immolation magic to weaken the creature even further. It sways and almost drops, opening a chance for Goran to finish it off--but the bolt goes wide and sinks into the pile of coins instead!
"Asleep" isn't a formal condition in Pathfinder and the dark naga entry doesn't provide any further details about the poison, so I'm going to rely on the closest analogue I can think of, which is the sleep spell; wounding a sleeping person awakens them, so I'll rule being hit by the magic missile is enough to waken Ting.
The naga makes the save and takes half damage from spontaneous immolation and doesn't catch on fire. Still, it's reduce to single digit HP.
Goran's attack missed.
Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

GM Jhaeman |

Seeing the half-orc pose a magical threat via magic missile, the dark naga responds in kind!
The dark naga is attempting to cast defensively magic missile at Rogarch. Result: Success. Rogarch, you would take 15 force damage (though it looks like your shield is up, which would absorb them).

GM Jhaeman |

The sluggish snake-like aberration is just an instant too slow to react to Ting's strike! The tengu's strike cuts open its vulnerable underbelly, but instead of collapsing, the obviously-slain naga slowly fades away!
Ting's attack hit the naga (only because it was slowed for . . . reasons).
We can go off Initiative, but please describe your actions is step-by-step fashion as I need to keep track of rounds.

![]() |

Candledark's eyes somehow appear to simultaneuosly widen to saucers and narrow to slits in a single motion as he watches the naga's peculiar fate.
"[Incredibly specific and complex 3-syllable Wayang term that is both common-noun for a particular esoteric form of shadow magic unrecognized by most other races and high-context idiom expressing particular reaction to being on the wrong side of its use either literally or metaphorically]!" are the next 3 syllables to come out from under his mask in acrid sotto voce.
Spellcraft - I gotta know if that was shadow magic all along: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
He then looks back at the door he already happens to be next to, and in anticipation of what might happen next (to say nothing of force of habit), gets ready to use it to hide from whatever might soon barge out from the other side...preferably without getting smashed between it and the wall.
Stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

![]() |

The layer of gold coins that the big snake is on is about 30' below the edge of the platforms. The platforms have handholds carved into their sides, making them relatively easy to Climb up or down (DC 10)...
I'm assuming that since it's platforms plural, that both sides have hand holds :)
Standing to his feet, ting shakes his tail feathers, "'At was bloody well closer 'n I's loike, wroight." Moving to the far platform ting begins to inspect the hand holds.
Stand and approach the platform, that's two moves, next round he'll climb.

RawkNRole |

@GM Jhaeman - I am going with the assumption that our characters are standing on platforms and not ledges as described in the first post of this scene.
Rawk-N-Role pops out of the wall and joins Ting momentarily. He gives the bird man a big thumbs up for his sword work and courage before beginning to ascend the opposite column of stone.
Double Move. He is currently earth gliding and merged with the stone column. He is 15 feet above the gold coins.
