"Squawk!" Letting out a loud squawk, ting realized he wasn't fast enough to get under the giant's defenses and paid the price. Seeing Rogarch bring down he second skeleton, he voices, "Blood-well's done Rogarch!" He then reaches into his pouch and pulls out the very familiar wand. Cocking his head he extends the wand to Goran, asking "Would you's mind Goran, I hate's ta keep askin' but a rooks gotta do's what's a rooks gotta do's wroight."
As Goran heals the wounds, tings tengu smile returns, he gestures towards the stone gates, "I's is guessin' 'at's tha way to go, wroight?" As he moves forwards he carefully inspects the gates for traps.

The Pathfinders move through the gates and into the Second Ring of the so-called "City of Golden Death". Unlike the outer ring, the Second Ring is largely intact. Most of the buildings are constructed of stone, with a gold flood line about 20’ high. The ground slopes up gradually about 40’ until it reaches the bottom of another floor-to-ceiling bedrock wall. Like the outer ring, canals of molten gold divide the Second Ring into sections.
Immediately ahead, the gold-plated road reaches a crossroads and disappears beneath a mound of partially-melted treasure. Gold coins, weapons, armor, and glittering gems cover the entire intersection in a mountain of wealth that reaches almost ten feet high!

Rogarch puts her hand in her pocket and speaks a word of power to activate her wand of Shield that she keeps there. She then advances carefully to examine the gold masked skeleton relying on her natural alertness (Uncanny Dodge) and a defensive posture to keep her safe from attack.

"My Mentor, an accomplished bard almost died because of a surprise attack by a Mimic. A fact that he is not shy to repeat I might add."

As Rawk-N-Role watches out for an ambush, Ting and Rogarch advance near the skeleton. Goran takes the precaution of sending a projectile into it, shattering a piece of its ribcage. When he fires again at the massive pile of treasure, a shower of molten gold and superheated coins sprays out from the impact point, dribbling searing liquid and tiny bits of burning metal all over Ting and Rogarch!

Rogarch nods at Ting. Despite the mound of treasure there is nothing to see here.
"Right. We should keep moving. Lead on."

GM Jhaeman |

The group moves on. Ting has no trouble following the trail, as it seems you might be gradually catching up to the cultists--though their numbers are a little smaller now than they were at the entrance to the city. The trail heads south before reaching an intersection and turning east. Straight ahead, past the intersection, is another curved wall reaching to the ceiling.
Map updated.
Having a tracker makes a big difference! I imagine a group without one would have to do a lot of wandering around.

GM Jhaeman |

The usual precautions are taken, and both visual and magical inspection offers relief: this intersection, unlike those in the outer ring, isn't trapped!
The Pathfinders follow the cultists' trail as it stays on the broad road, curving around the wall. When the road passes by an abandoned fort, however, a female voice calls out from somewhere nearby: “Lay down your arms, heretics and traitors, and we shall spare you! You are surrounded! Hundreds of Razmir’s faithful beg me to kill you--but I will spare your lives if you surrender to the Living God. Make your decision!”
We'll say another hour has passed in-game.

Rawk-N-Role informs Rogarch in their shared language of the woman hiding behind the pillar.
Rogarch smiles clearly not afraid of the flunkies in hiding or even their leader.
"Is this how you greet fellow travellers and traders? Clearly you wish to spread the influence of your god. Would you deny the possibility of a lucrative and secret trade route that might enrich your following?"
"As for putting down our arms that would be the height of foolishness. You are hundreds and we are but a few. What possible threat could we pose to you armed or unarmed?"
"Allow us in and we can discuss it."
The plan here is to get inside the fort before hostilities break out. :)
I am counting on their greed and overconfidence to let us in. :)

![]() |

Annoyed by the accusations, ting knew he was neither heretic nor traitor. Confused by Rogarch's comment about 'trade route' he vigorously nods his beak when the half orc declares she won't lay down arms. He moves closer to Rogarch and asks, "Is we's gonna deal wit tha hiders?"

GM Jhaeman |

There's a brief pause as the hidden speaker considers Rogarch's offer.
Fun idea! I'll need a Bluff check with a -5 penalty (I'm ruling that the bluff is "Far-fetched"--you all certainly look much more like troublemaking Pathfinders than traders, and the Isle of Terror is not a place traders will stumble upon, but at the same time, she "Wants to Believe You"--that she could win over new converts). Others can Aid Another if they wish.
