Teeheehee!

And actually I did have one Question at the top of my last post:

Hey DM Joseph, One more question for you: What do you think about the Herald Caller archetype?

I think, if allowed, it's the direction I'll take...but I'll v be equally happy with her as a vanilla Cleric; just let me know!

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

I'll have both cohorts done tonight

Oh! One more thing actually (in addition to my question above about the Herald Caller archetype): All of the traits assume you're born-and-raised in or around Brevoy, at least somewhat.

I think Rostlander isn't hard to adapt to Rahaal. From Rostlander, "sensibilities of hard work winning well-deserved gains, the importance of charity and compassion, and the value of personal and familial honor" all mesh well with being raised by traveling merchants who worship Abadar in and around Absalom, and "Your hardy nature grants you a +1 trait bonus on all Fortitude saves" fits as well.

I just want to call out that Rahaal's background gives her a different motivation than Rostlander patriotism: At first, being in the wilderness will be a reluctant duty (though one she takes as seriously as anything the church of Abadar might charge her with). Over time, I suspect she'll develop her own genuine intrinsic motivation as she develops relationships with party and probably even love for the land...but I want that to take some time.

Any questions or concerns, about Campaign Trait selection, or in general?

^^^ this is actually a really good point for non-humans as well. My character took the "Issian" trait because the phrasing ("You are descended from an able and intelligent people, and you have grand ambitions, a mind alert for opportunity, and the tenacity to fight for your goals no matter the challenge... You see yourself as a citizen of Brevoy through and through") stuck with me - he was effectively rejected by his homeland but has found welcome (and love) in his adopted homeland and he does consider himself to be Brevic (albeit he spies occasionally for Kyonin - but as the saying goes consistency is a hobgoblin, or something). Having said that, I never checked it with you but hopefully you'll tell me if it's an issue.

Yeah, I had actually been wondering about that too as Ashia is from Osirion. So while the "You are descended from an able and intelligent people, and you have grand ambitions, a mind alert for opportunity, and the tenacity to fight for your goals no matter the challenge. You care for little more than achieving your aspirations" part of Issian fits, the "You see yourself as a citizen of Brevoy through and through" does not. Alternatively, the "Life has been hard for you... [and has] lead you to fall in with thieves and worse" part of Brigand could make sense since they have no connections to Brevoy and wanted to search tombs and ruins, and "you’re looking to get away to somewhere no one would ever think to look for you" part of it works especially if they're still being pursued by Nethysian purists.

The variant multiclass system is cool, but I think for what we are doing we will stay away from it.

No probalo!

Hmm... we're core only, so Oracle is out for the divine half of a Mystic Theurge, right?

Edit: Also, how do you feel about drawbacks?

Hey DM JR, I went ahead and finished Rahaal up with the Herald Caller archetype, but could easily modify her back to archetype-less, if you'd prefer. (Likewise, if my read of the Rostlander trait–mentioned above–doesn't seem reasonable, let me know what your trait guidance would be.)

Her latest backstory + crunch are in her profile.

In terms of other questions:
1) Heirloom - before he died, Rahaal's father gave her a necklace with a golden key motif, that she always wears (and that functions as her holy symbol).
2) Cohort - rough plan is someone else sent with her from the chapel of Abadar (possibly a guard who'll go martial, or another adept, who'll eventually go cleric herself, depending on the needs of the party). I'm inclined to dig more into making the cohort once selected, and most importantly once I know what the party needs.

Thanks again for your consideration, and let me know if you have any questions!

I've added Kaleida's (expert/ future ranger cohort) stats to my profile (will create a profile for her if chosen)

Same with Larelle, Rhiann's younger sister and cohort (expert going rogue at level 3)

Gyrfalcon – Oh man… I am so sorry. I am okay with Herald Caller. Just like any archetypes as long as you aren’t using two that change the same class feature you’ll be okay.

Dr. Kekyll Correct, Cleric is still a powerful option for the Theurge.

Trait / Drawback Yes, I did notice that they all lock you in regionally. I am okay if you keep the same idea of the trait but change location. I am a no on Drawbacks.

Somewhere someone asked if it was okay to use DM JR, yes 100% that is fine. Today is the deadline, so be sure to get your submissions in today. Best of luck all!

All fair! One more quick question: Are we able to take the Additional Traits feat? Just trying to work out my options. I'm probably just going to stick with a single class and not bother with Mystic Theurge.

DM JR, so worries at all, I just knew today would be pretty packed for me and wasn't sure if you were closing recruitment at a specific time.

Best of luck to all applicants...and good luck DM JR in particular, as you try to figure out the party you want from this fine set of applicants!

and I know it might be in your opening post somewhere, but is there a timezone which defines "today" for you? I am in Pacific.

Ashia should be done.

I believe it is no longer the 23rd of April in any time zone, so now we all just wait trepidatiously - good luck everyone! Some great characters for the DM to choose from, I don't envy the task of selecting only three.

Hey guys sorry for my absence. I am on staff at a church and this Monday our lead pastor let us know that he is leaving. This was completely unexpected and has really shook the staff. I have been dealing with the fallout of that since.

I will spend this weekend selecting the party and I will announce those on Monday.

I apologize for this delay. Don't hold this against me, the train will leave the station shortly.

That's understandable, real life takes precedence. I hope you have a good rest of the week!

Wow, sorry to hear about the shake up. Hope things will be able to move forward smoothly, without anymore unexpected changes.

Take all the time you need.

That's a big deal! Good luck with the transition, and I hope you end up with a great new pastor soon.

Thanks for the update. I'll be sure to peek back on Monday!

Sorry to hear that, it sounds like a lot of disruption. Hope the fallout is manageable, as the others said, RL always comes first. Thanks for keeping us posted, it is appreciated.

Looking forward (with trepidation) to the final decision!

That is a lot to deal with. Good luck!

ALL: My apologies for not submitting, I started a new job on the 24th and really couldn't get thru everything in time.

If there is a need for a fill-in later on, you can let me know, Evin will depart the Temple of Yuelral with all due haste and head to Restov from Iadara.

Any update?

Hey everyone!

Sorry, things took a little bit longer before getting back on stable ground. Things are looking good short and long term for our church.

I will finish my selection today/tomorrow and we will kick off our game this week. For those who have submitted but feel the need to back out, please let me know.

I am so thankful for the grace and understanding through this time of transition.

Nothing to apologize for; these things happen. I'm glad to hear that things are looking good!

Cool, glad to hear things are looking good. Speaking of looking, we are looking forward to your selection :)

Happy to hear that things are improving.thank you for updating us. Looking forward to seeing your selections

Sorry, I just noticed this. I am going to withdraw. Work has taken a lot out of me recently.

Still interested, glad to know things are looking better RL-wise.

Still here with Fifi.

Glad to know things are good on your side! Still here and still interested, looking forward to your choices.

If I were a mad man I would run multiple tables of this. Your backgrounds and heirloom items have cause me too many rabbit holes and ideas for home-brew additions. I have managed to get the group down to 5, which seemed an impossible task. I will continue to read over those and make a final decision today/tomorrow.

I am partly looking at party balance, but also looking at what would be interesting as this group goes through the Stolen Lands and into creating your own kingdom for the sake of the story.

Dr Kekyll, I am sorry to hear work is rough right now. I hope things return to normal. Best of luck!

If you DO decide you're a madman, DJR, let us know.
I only just now saw this, have nothing currently on the list, but would absolutely roll up a character.

That said, everyone chosen, Have Fun!

A group of five? Have you considered dropping the 'Leadership Feat' (and Harbinger's upgrade, of course) and just running a normal table?

Thank you to everyone who submitted a character. If I didn't have 2 other games I really would love to run a second table, but that is not possible right now. I wish someone would step forward and run a table for those who submitted characters. This was harder than selecting for my other two games because as I was reading I had longterm threads in mind with what you gave in your background.

No I had not thought of that. I like this, but with a twist. Will the following 5 PCs head on over to the discussion tab as we get to know one another before we set off on the expedition.

Angus Elphinstone – Human Cavalier
Rhiann Sokol – Human Fighter (Unbreakable)
Rahaal - Human Herald Caller (Cleric) of Abadar
Elizabeth Ardoc – Human Druid of Gozrah
Alyssa Feuilinde – Half-Elf Fey Bloodline Sorcerer

Thank you to everyone who submitted!

Congratulations to the lucky 5! If you ever need a replacement Lucky will be around.

Whoo hoo! Thanks for picking me! Will head right over to the discussion thread (as soon as it's up)

Thank you very much

Congrats to those selected - Kingmaker is a fantastic AP and I have no doubt you will have a lot of fun building your new realm :)

Sweet, thanks for taking a gamble on us!

Congrats to everyone selected. Even growing the party to five, there were a LOT of strong applications that didn't get in.

Good luck to everyone else in getting those characters into a great table of their own!
