Dark Runner nods along with Osuro's explanation. He hopes they can diminish Brigadier's impatience and frustration.

With every room cleared we reduce the spaces that may surround us with danger. There are a few key corners left to search and I'm sure one of them will yield a nesting stridermander. Let's get a move on!

The android moves back to the computer console room and throws open the Northwestern door.

Prank War Map

Brigadier Teshgari gives a frustrated growl as she glances toward the blood within the barracks, "the blood in that mess of a barracks is old. Likely from the previous residents and not the dead hanging up over here."

"Clearing rooms, investigating, sure. But delving into unprofessional skittermander nonsense with this gear and media is a waste of time," she declares this with a steely resolve. "Do what you need to do, but manage it quickly."

She follows with Darkrunner once more as the party finishes their investigation of the barracks and the contents. Mimzy and Jomp are certainly relieved to be out of there and far from the horrific display of bodies.

Leading the way with the door, Darkrunner has trouble easily moving the handle. it is a heavy blast door with a spinning handle. Turning the handle proves difficult as it is somewhat stuck in place.

GM Screeen:

Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 17

The handle refuses to budge, but Jomp is estatic to be able to offer his help. Straightening his mustache he says, "just need a little more force I think! I can help with that!"

It takes a few more attempts but well within the minute the door handle is rotated open and the heavy door is pulled back to reveal a soot-stained bunker that was the site of a large explosion.

Bits of twisted debris are piled neatly in the back of the chamber. In the center rests an incomplete vesk corpse composed of a torso, head, and one arm. Dangling awkwardly off its left side is a useless prosthetic arm, cobbled together from melted plastic and hunks of metal.

The vesk corpse turns its head, empty eye sockets glowing with black flames, and gasps. "Saviors! Have you come to rescue me?" Struggling to move it ends the attempt as it focuses on Darkrunner and the others at the door."

Skip shares the equipment he finds with the rest of the crew, but holds on to the spell gems. I think I am the only caster, but will have to make checks to be able to use these higher level spells

As they move on to the next room and discover the undead, Skip stops in his tracks. Normally quite reserved and personable, he is startled into uttering ...'What voodoo is this?"

He keeps his distance from the undead abomination.

Prank War Map

There is a flinch during Darkrunner's offer, but his eyes follow Darkrunner and look over at you all as he takes a moment of evaluation before answering, "yes, if you can get me to the surface and provide me the barest mobilty, I promise will do what I can to help you. I can barely move but convey me any way you see fit and I will set my abilities to aid you."

Schukla's words echo into the undead's mind and he looks about and his eyes land on the stellifera. "I..." he hesitates looks to his broken body and the room. "I just... I don't want to be here."

For Momo:
The vesk has become an undead akin to a varculak. An undead born, in part, from a soul with an intense desire to continue living. Howe much they recall of their prior life can greatly vary, but their abilities can vary as much as any other species. While undead, they are creatures caught between the states of life and true undeath.

He averts his gaze to Momo's question, it take a few moments before he answers back in a gravely voice, "I was a Veskarium soldier in the operation to attack this terrorist base. I split off from the rest of the unit and engaged one of the rebels in the bucker here. They were armed with an explosive and I ordered them to surrender."

"He agreed and was setting it aside." He looks about the room and the soot staining every surface. With lower voice he shamefully declares, "But he tripped."

"The explosion burned for a moment, but the shame burned for much longer.
I couldn't face judgement."
He looks away and declares, "I awoke later alone. The door was sealed and I was given to my thoughts."

Brigaider Teshgari steps into the doorway and glares at the undead vesk. "Disgraceful."

The undead looks up and shock and then shame. He quickly salutes her with his remaining arm with fear, "Brigadier! I- I didn't intend to fraternize with Pact World soldiers! I- I was-"

"You can stop there," she declares with a glare. "You are a dishonor. Couldn't die with honor and couldn't even face death without fleeing from it. I think you should be left here to rot."

He looks down and offers no disagreement.

Mimzy and Jomp look at this and have tears in their eyes. Mimzy voice breaks out and states, "I'm so sorry you have been in here so long! You must be feel awful!"

Jomp nods as he wipes at the tears, "we can try to get you somewhere you can get all fixed up."

He looks up at them and gives a half-hearted hiss at the pair of skittermanders. "Stay back you rebel terrorists." He clearly doesn't have his heart in it as he looks away. "I am very confused what you are all doing here. Did the Veskarium win the war with the Pact Worlds?"

Has any character here played in #1-30: Survivor's Salvation?

Again, in Vesk, "The Veskarium is a member of the Pact Worlds. Both sides are better for it."

Back to common. "This is the Brigadier's expedition. She wants this one left here. So, we leave it here for now. We could come back afterwards, or even potentially on the way out, but we should not so aggressively refuse to follow her instructions."

Prank War Map

With a clear and fierce voice Brigadier Teshgari declares, "the Veskarium is not part of the Pact Worlds. The arrival of the Swarm brought and end to the war in favor of a peace." She directs this at your group rather than the undead, seemingly not caring about his opinion.

Hearing your thoughts Mimzy and Jomp head into the room in order to provide their help.

Jomp steps up and declares, "I think we might be able to help and get some of the pieces back in place I don't want to leave you like this nufriend!"

Mimzy nods with agreement as she says, "you are with us nufriend and we will make sure you get all the help you need." She moves in to provide a multiarm hug.

Jomp does the same and has a few of his other arms attending to the heavily ruined prosthetic arm.

The undead gives declarations for them to stop and they grow more broken and confused as they close in. His eyes are open in complete terror as the attempted repair goes wrong causing dozens of pieces to fall off from the already destroyed arm. He shrieks in panic and fear as he pleads, "please. No!"

This is clear enough to get the skittermanders to back away with a worry and despair.

The undead looks to the group for aid as he says, "please, I'll do what I need. I want to be able to walk again on my own. I want off the planet. I even want away from the Veskarium. If there is a place in the Pact Worlds, I will take it. Please don't leave me."

At a loss Jomp steps away, still clearly wanting to help the undead. Mimzy has the same feelings and withdraws a warm meat pie from her bag and a water from her belt.

"You should still eat," she offers solemnly while placing both food and drink within his reach.

He recoils instinctively away, but as she withdraws he allows himself to pull them closer.

Nothing on 1-30

When Teshgari off-handedly mentions the Swarm, Momo flinches so hard that the brigadier might as well have fired off a heavy cannon. She regains her composure when she realizes is she is well-underground, and no swarm would dare go this deep into Vesk space.

There were great sacrifices in that war, but it brought our species closer together.

Brigadier, I once... eh.. heard of a civilian ship attacked by the swarm. When the ship exploded, space was a sea of escape pods. Help did not arrive in time, and it was said there were no survivors, but rumor has it a drifter found an escape pod. The pod had a jury-rigged battery that had lasted longer than any of the others, and two small kids inside were still alive. These survivors had no right to live, but yet they did. Is this not the case for this warrior? Does he not deserve another chance to die with honor?

The skittermanders to take Darkrunner's hands and support, but their focus and worry is less about their feelings and looking to the injured vesk and his problems.

Unfortunately for Schuka the undead does hold onto the provisions. He looks conflicted and embarrassed but gives into hunger and eat the food. He looks away in complete shame as he does so.

The undead vesk has no reaction any comprehension of the discussion of the Swarm. Brigadier Teshgari herself just seems frustrated with this conversation at all. Responding to Momo she states, "We are all faced with trials. Those you spoke of grew from that and hopefully gained strength. He is no child though and I will not treat him as such. I will not let his weakness tear apart the unit just for the sake of giving more chances."

"I am not your commander though and if you want to drag the disgrace along then do so. I won't hear complaints if he puts you in danger. If he gets in they of the safety of my or my subordinates I will not stand for it." Darkrunner finds this room far easier to access as the door opened up to reveal a maintenance room.

There a large array of tools, cleaning, supplies, and equipment lying around the room.

In addition there is a maintenance panel covered clearly labelled buttons and levers. Jomp enthusiastically helps translates them as controls for the power grid, automated sprinklers, and ventilation system. All are currently set to off.

There are a variety of tools within the room itself and include a tactical core hammer, 6 batteries, 3 gear clamps, 6 flashlights, 6 lanterns, an advanced medkit, an engineering kit, a hacking kit, a dermal stapler, a fire extinguisher, a grappler, microgoggles, a nightvision scope, and 1,000 ft. of titanium alloy cable line.

Opting to put aside the power controls for the moment, Darkrunner opens the doors into the adjacent room and reveals a ransacked room with a pair of piles of furs, skins, bones, and other miscellaneous equipment arranged as a pair of nests.

He retrieves a piece of the robot and uses it to manipulate the nest material away to reveal the grenades and equipment without directly touching anything. "It looks as though they've used some more equipment to build their bed, can anyone help to identify these?"

After taking an inventory, and satisfied that they've cleared the rooms immediately around the computer console, Darkrunner returns to the room with the control panel.

Okay! With no more danger in the immediate vicinity, we can turn the power grid back on and see what information these computers reveal!

He has Jomp point to the right switch again, and throws it on.

Let's leave the ventilation off for now... it might carry smells that help the stridermanders track us.

Again he walks over to the computer desk and sets his laser pistol down at the side while he sits down to access the systems...

Looking through the gear there are a set of four non-lethal mk 1 web grenades that hamper movement, a commando serum of enhancement to remove combat ability, and a spell ampoule of spider climb that was likely prepared by the hunters if needed to traverse and climb hostile underground terrain.

* * *

Heading back to the power controls, Darkrunner is directed to each of the controls. Automated sprinklers and ventilation are left off now, but the level for the power is turned and the base returns to life. The lighting on the ceilings and mounted on the walls turns on illuminating the aged passages and sickly surfaces. There is sudden motion as the creatures within the ventilation and elsewhere shriek with the new illumination. The sounds are similar to the whelps you first encountered outside. The bulk of the noise comes from the south.

From the north some of you are able to hear a voice crying out, singing along with some stringed instruments. The song is coming from the barracks room to the north.

With the addition of power the computer console also whirrs to life. Cheerful bootup noises fill up the central area despite the stains and bullet holes surrounding the area.

On the computer's screen a set of eyes and a wide smile appears. It seems to look around at all you as a high pitched electronic voice declares cheerfully, "Uh-oh! None of you are in my facial recognition database! Are you new?"

Brigadier Teshgari sighs in exasperation as the cheerful AI greets you. She shakes her head at the display.

Jomp and Mimzy are incredibly amazed. Both stare at the computer with wide eyes and excitement as they look upon the console. Jomp speaks quickly as he asks, "All the little bits and work to put into you! Just hiding away underground! This is so incredible! I will have to tell everyone about you. Who built you?"

The Brigadier reins in Jomp as she doesn't want to encourage her subordianates getting involved and just leaves the matter to your group.

The Ai gives bit of a hum for a moment before responding, "Well nufriends I can't just give you access to the information just yet until I have you in my database. You can call me Compy though!"

Compy also adds with a similar amount of cheer, "Just say the password and I'll add you to my database! Go ahead! What's the password?"

As soon as Momo says help, Compy immediately interrupts Momo, "I would love to! What can I help you with today?" At the same time various applications and directories become accessible on the console.

Compy happily provides various pictures as they say, "it is a joy and a celebration to meet you nufriend. Bixby tries to make so many nufriends and my algorithms are delighted that some are still around. Especially given the likely demise of Bixby following the vesk soldiers performing their attack on the base, death of Tibbs and the damage to my systems. Especially since, based on timestamps, it has been two hundred years! You look very good for your age!"

Without a dip in their cheer and delight Compy continues, "I would be happy to give you access to their logs and files. Bixby wasn't the root user, but was the founder of Allsix Assist. They didn't keep many files on the system but I can provide them!"

A few files are presenting on the screen and include blueprints of public places, Veskarium buildings, and brief mission logs.

Skip seems pleased to be able to use a computer with voice commands instead of fumbling around with controls

"Absolutely," is the jubilant answer from Compy. "This was the base of the Allsix Assist, a team devoted to helping the Veskarium on this planet. The Allsixers wanted to unite skittermander and vesk in the growing Veskarium."

"You seem to like voice commands just like Razzlefrazz did and I'm happy to help you just like I did for him. The purpose of my creation by Tipps was to help since Razzlefrazz needed a fair bit of help with the computers," admits the AI without too much change in their cheer.

"Oh! I have many video records Razzlefrazz made for their fireworks. I'll pull them up now!" Compy is excited to show and display the data for you.

There are a multitude of small videos much of which featuring a purple-furred skittermander with a long bear testing fireworks and bombs in the nearby bunker. The remainder show outdoor fireworks displays. Most of the videos have limited visuals as the recording is blocked by the purple beard of finger of the person recording.

Near the last of the videos is a outdoor video that starts with a male skittermander whooping with glee and shouting "Allsix Assist!" while a spray of fireworks shoot into the sky and create a barrage of colorful explosions. In the distance the video shows furious vesk arming themselves with weapons as they yell "we're under attack" in response to the fireworks display.

"Well I helped Razzlefrazz with storing and displaying their videos and processing orders for his tools and materials. Although those orders were handled by Tipps." Compy happily presents more information opening the user files for Tipps.

Most of the files are cartoons with Compy noting, "their favorite was Nufriend Yufriend, although Glitter Surprise was a frontrunner."

Presenting a number of accounting sheet Compy says that Tipps was the groups accountant. There are detailed records here indicating payments and expenses for several years ending about two centuries ago. The records show that the Veskarium paid Allsix Assist the funds to build the base and paid them again after each of their three hundred self-assigned missions.

Tracking down this information a bit more indicates though that the Tipps had gained access to the Veskarium's accounts and was transferring money to the Allsix Assist themselves.

Happy to share all the information stored on the system Compy does show other files.

Sprout has various records on plants she was growing. The records indicate that they were primarily herbs, vegetables, and flowers. There is notes on how well they responded to varying degrees of water, humidity, and artificial sunlight.

Viverivim has thousands of photographs of paintings. Most are graffiti plastered on homes, Veskarium complexes, signs, and roads. The graffiti tends to color explosions or beautiful landscapes with bold tag lines like "Allsix Assist," "Allsixers Unite," or "We help! You should too!"

Most of the pictures show the group of six skittermanders smiling and posing in front of the art. Producing a slideshow of the pictures Compy commentates, "Viverivim was bringing skittermanders and the Veskarium closer with his art."

"Same for everyone of the team trying to bring everyone closer together! Prismacora helped with music. Do you want to hear?" Compy asks the question but doesn't wait for the response before playing one of hundreds of videos of the pink skittermander. She performs with her guitar as she sings cliché, but catchy, songs about friendship, helping and her love of the Veskarium.

Ok, Mister I... Mister Skip... eh, I mean... Skip? Momo looks quite uneasy, and she can't help but add a bow and an embarassed smile ..heh..

"They didn't fight the Pact Worlds," Compy corrects and answers, "the Allsixers helped out on this planet."

Heading south Brigadier Teshgari is pushing close behind to get away from the cheerful AI. Through the hallway you find a mess of a mess.

There is a broken table and chairs heaped with fur, mattresses, and organic matter dominates this dusty mess hall. The mound twitches and shifts, emitting the shrill screeches of stridermander whelps.

Kitchen appliances and cupboards line the east wall, while dirty, floor-to-ceiling windows in the west wall tower over an overgrown fungus garden. This room connects to the other hall. Two doors exit this chamber into a another room and the garden.

The sounds of multiple stridermander whelps screech from the nest, but they hold within the mound.

Brigadier Teshgari has her pistol ready as she holds against the nest and declares to you, "this can't be left here." With a command she tersely demands of your group, "destroy the nest."

Schuka has a complicated view due to occupation of home planet by Azlanti. So as at skttermanders. Schuka show on screen:

Many stelliferas who remain "within" Azlanti Empire, on Parin, likely "help" empire to shine - they mean it.

Later near nest Schuka suggest use grenades with a detonator preferably. As we could make a trap for large strittermander

Brigadier Teshgari cuts in to firmly refute by stating, "my hunt is a lesser priority than clearing this threat. If we fail, these will grow, spread, and threaten to overwhelm Ewagadravona. The security of the town is not worth a prize."

Jomp glares at the nest himself and circles around it swinging his polishing clothing in the air like a weapon. He nods to the idea of destruction as he declares, "I'll help! Stridermanders love eating skittermanders and I don't want to help them with that!"

How does the party which to destroy the next. Grenades would be effective as would other effects that would destroy the entire nest as cutting and smashing it would be of limited success.

Meanwhile Mimzy is focusing her gaze on the kitchen and how she might safely get there. For the moment she holds back and thinks about Schuka's words.

As Momo steps out, Skip peers into the room. Knowing the last few nests contained various scavenged gear, Skip focuses his attention on the pile. "It looks like the welps may have solved the problem for us, stand back, who knows what they've used to build that nest!"

As he speaks, smoke begins rising from the nest - not unlike that robot earlier. Flames erupt shortly after the first light smoke can be seen and grows to fill the area on a 5 foot radius.

Cast Hazard (orange box). The nest, or maybe the welps can make a reflex check. Sorry for the delay - busy few days

Extinguisher ready the fire is able to ignite the pile of gathered debris. The nest is quickly consumed by fire and produces a dark, choking smoke that quickly fills the room. With no outlet it is rapidly filling the air of the room, even though the flames are contained.

Jomp uses his cloth to try to filter out the smoke as Mimzy backs out of the room. The Brigadier Teshgari takes a few back to attend to her subordinates.

The nest has been dealt with allowing passage through the room. The smoke still lingers though hampering vision and breathing in the area.
