Igor shakes his head at the crazy gnome.
Nice. Certifiable but nice. :)

GM Roll4initiative |

Jilla tackles the hound and twists it so that she is able to get it in a headlock.
Therin summons a scimitar of force. It slashes at the hound and misses.
The hound tries to clamp onto Jilla's arm and tear a chunk out.
Power Chomp!: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 10 - 2 = 10
b/p/s & PA: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
But, it misses from being rolled about.
Due to the shadowy nature of the hound and the dim light in the room, the hound has concealment to all attacks against it (50% miss chance).
Round 4; Pathfinders are up!
Jilla (grappled)
Eka (-17 hp)
Drukpa
Igor (5/5 images)
Therin
Shadow Dog (-28 hp, grappled)

even thought it's grappled? it takes a Dex penalty..,must be close though if i just missed...
Therin lashes out with his sword again, and tosses a small jet of fire at the beast for good measure.
spiritual weapon: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 1 = 261d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

fire bolt, touch AC, low good: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 1 - 4 = 151d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d100 ⇒ 47

GM Roll4initiative |

Actually, Therin, I'm of the old-school generation of GMs/players and don't call high/low when rolling percentile. Low is always bad. If it's a 20% miss chance, then 1-20 misses. If it's 50%, then 1-50 misses.

Eka gives herself a little boost of healing, then swipes at the hound again.

Igor moves in behind and lets loose a wave of fire attempting to cook the hound.
Burning Hands, Intense Spells, Reflex DC 17 for half damage: 5d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 3, 2) + 3 = 13
@GM Roll4initiative - Can the Shadow Mastiff be targeted directly with spells with the 50% miss chance? Also would not the Spiritual Weapon be subject to the concealment effect as it acts like a weapon?

Tiny Pebble |

Tiny Pebble moves around the room and attempts to put the hurt on the bad dog.
Slam,Earth Mastery, Haste, Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 19

Concealment, low % is a miss: 1d100 ⇒ 20
The earth elemental shows his mastery of the martial arts as he pushes nothing but air. He turns to Jilla and he repeats a single word in Terran and with the squeezing of one of his fists can only mean one thing.
"Pin!"

Drukpa continues to stab at the monstrous anger-inducing beast.

Yep. It's AC is 18 while grappled.
Spiritual Weapon miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 70

GM Roll4initiative |

Therin's floating scimitar of force slices deep into the hound. His fire bolt flies wide and fizzles out as it hits the back wall.
Eka gives herself a bit of divine healing. She then strikes twice with her chilly longsword, the first strike getting in a good hit.
Igor blasts the hound with a gout of flame, being careful not to hit Jilla.
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 9 - 2 = 21
Drukpa's first strike pierces the beast's side.
The beast expels a death rattle and lays dead. Jilla releases her grasp and jumps to her feet.
COMBAT OVER! Pathfinders are victorious!!!
The stream of negative energy continues to flow between the giant crystal and mirror. The intensity of the energy beam begins to create small cracks in the mirror. A few fractures can be seen forming in the large crystal as well. It appears a few good strikes with a blunt weapon would smash both the crystal and mirror to pieces.

Drukpa eyes his reflection in the cracked mirror. "What a damned fine lookin' fellow that is! Hey, mister, whatcha doin' down here and why ain't you show up a little earlier so's ye coulda helped us?!? That's a mean looking bardiche yer carryin', nearly as good as mine, though mine's a bit broke. Anyway, sure woulda been nice if'n ye had gotten here a few minutes sooner and lent a hand!"

Are you stepping into the energy beam so you can look into the reflective surface of the mirror?

Igor wonders what the ramifications for smashing the crystal and mirror would be other than to stop the flow of negative energy.

We could break it but why would we want to?
'Cause pathfinders are known for smashing things. ¯\(°_o)/¯

Igor ponders the words of the necromancer and wonders if they can safely remove the crystal. He is careful not to get too close to the beam but has a look to see if they can salvage and sell the crystal.

Why break it if you can sell it! :)

GM Roll4initiative |

It's a 10' tall crystal. A bit too big for you to carry out. Popping those 3 stones into the niches, which brought down the protective wards on the mirror & crystal is a mighty big clue for what to do next.

Igor realises that he can not turn a profit on the magical crystal so he decides to open the flood gates.
"All right. Who wants to smash the mirror and crystal to bits?"
The wizard and his familiar retreat into the hallway to watch.
Fair enough but the adventure should reward creative looting. Really it should. :)

Jilla tries to roll to her feet, but the grease on the floor makes it a challenge. "Did I get it? I think I got it!" She ends up crawling to a dry patch of floor before standing up. "That was fun! What do we get to fight next? Hey, did someone say something about smashing?"

![]() |

"Yess. I think I have jusst the tool for that." Eka wipes the longsword clean, sheathes it, then grabs the femur from the cold room. "Everyone's welcome to fetch one yourself if you like. Let'ss ssmash that necromansser'ss prettiess!" Being careful to stay off to the side so she doesn't touch the wall of negative energy, Eka takes a mighty swing at the crystal.
femur (club): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 161d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Should we roll for each swing, or are we hand-waving this part?

No. Drukpa is dumb but he has some basic instincts for self-preservation.

I do have fireball still to use...just saying...tapping Eka with clw stick first...just in case...

"Thankss, Therin."

The group gets out some smashing implements and begin whacking at the crystal and mirror. When the mirror is destroyed, the entire room is blasted with a powerful storm of negative energy that knocks the pathfinders off their feet and causes some nasty damage (but not enough to kill anyone). With the curtain of energy gone, the pathfinders stand up, dusts themselves off, and whack away at the giant crystal. After many good blows, the crystal crumbles into a pile of shards.
In the center of the rubble, you find a small crystal pulsating with an eerie green light.
Igor identifies it as a minor artifact.
Congratulations!!! You have found the best item in the scenario! It is a nexus crystal.
Aura: moderate necromancy; CL 12th; Slot none; Weight: 1/2 lb.
DESCRIPTION: This black crystal always feels cold to the touch. Simply carrying this crystal provides protection against negative energy. Whenever the wielder takes damage from negative energy, such as channel energy or an inflict spell, she takes 10 less points of damage. This reduction is applied after any saving throw is made. The crystal may possess other powers, but they are not known at this time.
Once you decide to leave, you return to Absalom without incident. The society is eager to hear your report, and is gravely concerned about your findings. You soon learn that another expedition is being planned to investigate the lower levels of Bonekeep and that you should keep yourselves ready.
I'll post a link to your chronicles, along with instructions for which items get crossed off, in Discussion thread later today. I hope you enjoyed the game! I plan to run Bonekeep: part II next PbP Con.

"That was neat!" exclaims Jilla, as she walks with the other Pathfinders back to Absalom. "Animated statues, gooey oozes, and a trap that was so obvious I was sure it was a sneaky double fake-out, but it wasn't--it was a reverse fake-out!"
She sniffs her shirt, still covered in vermin repellent. "Well, I better hit the baths first or they won't let me in the kitchens to start baking a celebratory pie! I'll holler when it's ready!"
Thanks players and GM, that was a blast!

When Drukpa stands back up after the blast he looks about in confusion, then quickly adopts a defensive stance while shouting to his comrades in alarm: "That handsome fella is gone! He musta turnt 'visible - watch yerselves - he might stick that bardiche in our backs!"

At first, Eka is inclined to think Drupka is being stupid, but then... That dungeon was full of variety in just the few rooms they'd delved, and had a sadistic disembodied voice taunting them. She wouldn't put it past that necromancer to do something like that. She raises her femur-club and keeps her senses wary for invisible attacks as the team moves out, pointedly *not* looking at Igor so she doesn't have to see the look on his face at her ridiculousness. He won't think lesss of me if we DO get attacked by anything invissible!
