Terodius considers what he knows states:
"He doesn't seem to be the same person he was when he was torturing me. Nor does he seem to have the intellect to be a significant wizard, but we've all seen him cast spells..."
He turns to Ciri and asks "Do your studies include possessing entities?", inviting her to consider the question. Then he calls on Mitra for wisdom (casts Heightened Awareness and Heroism (heroism extended with his rod of lesser extension), and considers the matter himself...

Yeah, Ciri failed on her roll of a 23 so... A 19 doesn't even get you the school with detect magic. All you know is that there is some sort of latent magic in the area. The spell is above Ciri's knowledge, one of the drawbacks of an aranist.

Stepping away from the conversation, RAtel checks the other two prisoners, making sure they are still unconscious and secured. As he does so he observes, "Several of the folks we've encountered, seemed bright for a moment, then when left to their own devices barely smart enough to communicate." Shrugging, he asks, "Are we taking our prisoners back to the surface? We could lock them in the prison."

"Indeed, at least this one seems to have been possessed by an entity capable of spellcasting," agrees Korbin.
"Still, he is a danger if he is re-possessed or merely extremely good at fooling us. We should likewise question the other two in case one of them is a more cogent ringleader," he adds.
Korbin thinks upon entities who could possess others in such a way, or perhaps spells that could be used to do something similar.

Have we actually looked these clowns over for loot and magic items?
Terodius looks at the 'wizard' and comments: "That'll be easier if he can walk rather than needing to be carried." He re-gags and hoods the imbecile.
"But let's try the others, if nothing else, it will tell us if our hypothesized possessing entity can control multiple people... Maybe we'll have better luck with the bottom of the chain of command"
He hauls the bound, gagged and hooded 'Heffrung' around the corner to wait, and carries the fighter back. Then he unhoods (and un-gags) the man, waiting on Korbin to awaken the fellow...
Terodius looms over the prisoner threateningly: "Good day, I am Terodius of the Mitran Inquisition. He lets that hang in the air a second and continues: "Your options are immediate and complete cooperation, or complete cooperation after a prolonged period of extreme agony as I torture you into cooperation. Choose wisely. To begin with, who are you?"

If he's not moving, that's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. I know he's been beaten unconscious (and tied up). So long as he's still napping, I'm happy. This is just filling time until Korbin wakes up the fighter and we get on to trying to interrogate him (see the spoiler above).

Just a dot to show I'm still following. I don't have much to add while Id'ing magic items, so I'm waiting for either the fighter or the priest to wake up under Korbin's ministrations...
