Jim hustles towards the last Minotaur that he can see, and waits in a ready stance for an opening to engage.

The entire Roll20 map is showing as solid black for me right now, so this is a place-holder...
"Well, that's three more good (dead) enemies of Mitra" puff's Terodius as he gets his breath back.
Korbin_Tealeaf
Finding nothing of value on the Minotaurs, Korbin stares blankly at a wall for a moment until he realizes it contains a secret door.
”That looks to be a hidden door,” he offers, pointing at the wall that under normal inspection seemed just like all the others.
"Slim" Jim
Only the bottom right hand corner of the map is revealed.
"Good eye" said Jim, "Hopefully it's not trapped. Anyway lets open it and see what's on the other side."
He moved closer to the door, and readied himself for when it was opened.

"No, don't open it yet. We still need to check out these cells here, and figure out what's going on with these crowns... "
(23, where we were looking at the crowns when the minotaurs showed up, and 24, 25, and 26 where we haven't looked in.)
@GM, did Korbin see any magic auras in the room with the two crowns (rm 23)

No, you didn't detect any magic off the crowns. You can roll an appraise however/

With no ranks in appraise, I don't think that's going very far.

I have PM'ed Fralk that we're active again; I think we need some trapfinding...

Haven't heard from Fralk...
Terodius mutters a quiet prayer to Mitra (Casts Guidance) and then searches for traps...

I pmed Fralk, I know he has been suffering the same winter blues I was suffering. With spring here I am more in the feeling of gaming again regularly knowing this is at least a five day a week committment. Weekends may be still a little spotty.
You detect no traps and the door is unlocked.
Terodius Mitrakin
Despite having found no traps (and no magic auras) and no other threats, Terodius is extremely suspicious of a pile of money (the 1000 gp) and a couple of art objects (the crowns), just sitting in a pile in a room "filled with human bones, rags, and rent armor"...
In the doorway, he pulls out a whip (15' reach), and uses it to yoink the electrum crown to him...
"Slim" Jim
Jim was still waiting at the door but noting Terodius's hesitation with the money, he found himself nodding "Wouldn't be surprised if those coins are a trap or cursed and you can't take coins with you to the afterlife..."
Could it be we're more afraid of the loot than then monsters? That strikes me as being pretty amusing. It probably is just loot for the taking, old school adventures used to hand out LOTS of loot and back in the day xp was given 1:1 for gold found.
Terodius Mitrakin
The room description strongly suggests that there's something nasty in there that we haven't spotted, and, as you note this is an old school module, which suggests that the crowns are probably plot macguffins that we'll need 2 levels down...
Terodius Mitrakin
Well you did just fight three minotaurs here.
So I guess yoinking the electrum crown with my whip went off without a hitch? Well, I guess we find things out the hard way...
"Huh, I was expecting something more ..."
Terodius hands Ciri the electrum crown for storage (in the portable hole), and then warily walks into the room, where he takes the gold and the marble crown (also passed to Ciri for storage).
Having looted 23, Terodius moves on to 24, where he starts by checking the door for traps (with another muttered prayer)...

You see no traps, but there is smoke pouring out from below the door.
Daniel Beatty
Daniel looks at the bottom of the door, "That is ominous. Let me try something for a moment."
He then stares at the door way for a few moments and prays.
Trying to detect evil through the door. I may or may not get anything due to strength and door construction, but worth a try.
Terodius Mitrakin
Terodius looks at the "smoke" boiling out below the door and says "Wait a minute, smoke rises..." (ie. if it's actually smoke, the smoke should be coming out from the top edge of the doorframe, and pulling replacement air into the room at the bottom of the doorframe.) .
He squats down beside the door and sniffs gently at the smoke (smells it), and then passes a hand through it (to see if it's hot).
Korbin_Tealeaf
Korbin takes some strips of cloth and sets them with his Create Water cantrip. ”If we are to go through smoke, staying low and putting these over your nose and mouth should help,” he says, banding them out when they are ready.

ok, I defer to your expertise. Smoke is coming from the doorway and ..

yesit is hot and it smells like heavy wood smoke
Terodius Mitrakin
"That's smoke all, and where there's smoke, there's fire..."
Terodius mutters a prayer to Mitra... (Casts Resist Energy: Fire)
He waits a minute for everyone else to take any precautions they desire, and then opens the door...
brvheart
This room is filled with smoke so thick it billows out into the hall. You cannot see. Terodius and Daniel take choking damage of
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2 per round!
brvheart
You soon no longer see Korbin as he enters the smoked filled room as it fills with steam adding to the smoke. Add steam damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3 for those entering in the room per round!
What is everyone else doing?
Terodius Mitrakin
... I was just going to close the door, but if Korbin has gone inside, perhaps that's a bad idea...
Terodius is surprised by Korbin taking the lead; he calls after the halfling "Korbin, maybe we should leave well-enough alone?"
@Brvheart, steam damage is presumably from heat; does Resist Energy:Fire protect against it?
Terodius Mitrakin
"Yeah well, you keep talking too, so we know if you pass out..." replies Terodius; he does not sound happy with this plan ...

correct, resist fire does protect against it.
brvheart
”Keep talking,” calls out Korbin, ”If I can’t put out the fire quickly I will come back towards the sound of your voice.”
Korbin will head towards the source of heat and try to douse it with Create Water.
I will get to you Korbin, I need to know what everyone else is doing first.
You do not hear Korbin.
Terodius Mitrakin
I remembered this! From all of yesterday in game time, and more than a year ago real time...
Terodius has a brainwave: "This has to be where the smoke was going!"
Can Ciri tell if the lingering magic is left over dimension door?

So Korbin has dissappeared in the smoke/steam and we can't hear him...
So, this is cancelled:
"Yeah well, you keep talking too, so we know if you pass out..." replies Terodius; he does not sound happy with this plan ...
Terodius, having lost track of Corbin, shouts into the room "Corbin, can you hear me? Shout back if you're OK!"
and gets ready to rush in if Corbin doesn't reply...

[dice=Spellcraft]1d20 + 18
yes it is dimension door and no longer lingering
Terodius Mitrakin
He does not reply. I presume you rush in then?
Yeah, this is gonna suck, but yes... Somebody has to fill in for the paladin ...
Blade in hand (merciful on, in case of accidents), shield at the ready, Terodius strides into the room, his eyes sweeping back and forth, looking for Corbin...
