A quick, collective gasp from everyone followed by conspicuous three seconds of silence, as the inertia of shock settles on Vizio's Tavern.
You have three seconds this Round in which to take a Move or Standard Action.
Janiven Key has taken a 5-foot-step and can open the door (Move Action) to the main room to see what just happened. Or someone else can.
In addition to the door leading to the main room, another door leads to the back -- this door and back entrance (Metagame-wise) didn't really exist originally -- but in Gameplay someone was, like, 'Hey, I go to the back entrance of VIzio's Tavern and tell the back-entrance guy the secret password.' So, now there's a private room and a back entrance.
Anyway -- Surprise Round -- Move or Standard Action. (Or Hold)

That makes sense. I certainly don't mean to short-circuit the RP more than is necessary to avoid tediousness.
Renzio Arvanxi
Am recovering from a minor, yet annoying injury. I should be able to post in gameplay tomorrow however.
In the meantime, let me at least roll a couple checks(which might inform my IG post:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 Society, what does Renzio know about Savois Tiri?
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 Westcrown Nobility, for the above.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 Society, same question but for Stiglor
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 Westcrown Nobility, as above.
Well, poop, not too much about Savois Tiri, unless Ray will let me take 10, at which point a 19 might be a bit better...

Savois Tiri
.
Renzio Arvanxi has never heard the name Savois Tiri. Most likely she is a young, inexperienced member of Westcrown's 'Dottari' who very likely has not earned promotion, um, the traditional way. But as of now, she has been promoted from standard 'Dottari' city guard to 'Durotas': Officer in the Dottari.
Non_Player Character
Stiglor
.
Renzio Arvanxi is not alone in knowing the name, Stiglor. A bear of a man who has earned a near-legendary reputation in Cheliax's military campaigns out east in the Aspodell Mountains fighting Andoran rebels and freedom fighters.
Stiglor was a Hero well before he moved to Westcrown and joined the Dottari -- joining as a Durotas rather than rank-and-file Dottari.
Renzio also knows that Stiglor is known for fighting two Favored Enemies: Halflings and Humans, and is well versed in Survival skills, including being renowned for his Swift Tracking abilities. Stiglor is especially comfortable in both Mountainous and Forest Terrains, and in his time in Westcrown has started to train as a more urban-based Fighter, learning Feats of combat more suited to city guard duty.
Sadly, Stiglor's tale in Westcrown has met its end, as the new Dottari 'Duxotar,' Lord Iltus Mhartis, has publicly shamed and dismissed Stiglor from the Dottari, making it clear that, in Lord Iltus' opinion, Stiglor does not belong among civilized people -- and is better suited to life in the wilds.

So, trying to keep the scene as organic and roleplay-friendly as I can -- mechanically what is happening is this:
The wooden coins of Mammon appeared in Vizio's Tavern and everyone was startled and stopped what they're doing in an instant moment of surprise or uncertainty or whatever (You obviously don't know if there's a magical effect -- either the two people who have Moved made a Will Save, or they're just first in their Initiative and reacted first.)
The coins apparently appeared in the air and dropped. Some are rolling to a stop, or are tumbling before they come to a stop. Some are no longer moving, having landed and stopped. (You know how coins (& dice) are when they fall on the floor; some stop quickly, others take a second to roll around then stop.)
The coins are made of wood and have Mammon's Holy Symbol -- okay, that's a DC 10 Lore of Cosmology check but sheesh -- you got it (or will get it asap).
.
Technical: This is a Surprise Round!
.
Tarvi and Dottari officer Saria Roccin have taken Move Actions to look at a coin close to them.
In your private room Janiven Key has taken a Move Action to open the door so everyone can see what's happening.
You can take a Move Action or a Standard Action if you like.

I have put a little bit of information in our Obsidian Portal wiki regarding Mammon, for Tik and everyone else. We shall, of course, add more during our campaign should the need arise.
Um, Mammon rules Castle Erebus, is the personification of greed and wealth -- and is allied with Mephistopheles & Dispator, and conspires against Baalzebub, Belial & Molech -- who Mammon especially hates.

In that vein, let's keep all dice rolls under Spoiler Tags in Gameplay. Please. And Thanks!
Reminder as we get our init rolls out.
DM Ray
Sorry it took a few days longer than I anticipated -- Saturday turned out to be unexpectedly slammed with stuff that came up. And I really wanted to color out The Bastards of Erebus the right way -- it takes a few minutes to really get those kinds of flavor-posts up at the beginning of a fight.
Please use Discussion for your tactical questions -- I'll be as clear as I can. Even better, if anyone can teach me how to create a map for use -- awesomesauce. Alas, Vizio's Tavern as published does not have a layout we can use.
The main room is just a big square -- plenty of open windows are available for line of sight and effect (I made sure I included that point earlier when I had the little kids playing their hide-and-seek game.)
Gornych, two Tiefling Rogues, and a Fiendish Riding Dog are coming in to kill almost everyone, unless you stop them!
And of course, if we could keep Crunch & Dice under Spoiler Tags, it'll make the reading of Gameplay much more user friendly, in the weeks and months to come.
Arrus Volso
The scene outdoor is clearly a meta cut-scene which our characters have no notion of, correct? I.e., sure there are windows but we don't obviously notice the gang collecting at the front-door?
DM Ray
Palaveen and the other heads of The Bastards of Erebus are 'off stage,' yes. The PCs don't have line of sight or effect or knowledge of that little scene. It's just flavor to build up future encounters. But you do have Gornych, two Rogues, and the Fiendish Dog coming in to Vizio's Tavern on their turns in Initiative.
Arrus Volso
Okay, so the characters might think to head out back and circle around, but they don't realize what else they'll find there.
Given no map, is that a double move to circle around back?
