What are your thoughts on the thaumaturge class? I'm thinking about getting Dark Archives at some point and making my next PFS character either a thaumaturge or psychic.

I enjoyed the Thaumaturge doing the playtest last year, so I was really looking forward to the Dark Archive book. It's definitely better than the playtest version, with more options for the implements, which can really change his mechanics. So I'm having fun with him.

I'll send you a DM with more specific thoughts, so as not to bore the good people getting notified of changes here.

Hey folks the Chronicles are here

Come and grab them since they are fresh.

Thank you all for playing, it was a pleasure running this game. I will report it, when I realize when to do it for the Gameday XI ;)

================

Regarding Thaumaturge, I generally think that if you have a good PC concept that it matches thaumaturge go for it. I feel like scenarios like this one, let them shine (I would risk saying to a point of breaking most of the fights).

Look at the enemy that you fought: Zombie Owlbear it has plenty of HP, which is balanced by weakness: in this case slashing and positive. THaumaturge can walk with a Warhammer and effectively always trigger the weakness (unless he has really bad rolls on his skill). No need for multiple weapons, no need for ways how to deal good/positive/silver/cold iron.

Personally, I don't like it much, I prefer mechanics that incentive players preparing their PC's, rather than giving out universal solutions.

At the same time, the above feature does not help when you fight enemies with plenty of resistances, as your feat does not let you avoid those.

Anyways, those are my ramblings.

I have RO 6 and HH 2 on my Chronicle. Should it be RO 6 or RO 4 + HH 2?

(I can just cross out HH 2 on my Chronicle if it's just a typo.)

I think it is fine. You completed every objective within the scenario: which grants you 4 rep in your faction, in your case RO.

THen you had two extra jobs: one for Horizon Hunter: gather the maps - which you did +2 to HH
And another for Radiant Oath: investigate the tower and convince Sir Clay to not attack it, which you did +2 to RO

Thanks for the chronicle, GM Farol! Looks good.

I see your point about Thaum possibly breaking encounters with his Weakness thing. That's a fair point about wanting to reward players for planning ahead with different attack strategies, and not just giving them Weakness for free. Don't disagree with any of that.

In the Thaum's defense, most creatures don't have Weaknesses, so the bonus tends to be smaller, and the Thaum is limited to 1-handed weapons due to holding an Implement in the other hand. And as you said, his attacks don't bypass resistances (so he was still doing minimal damage to the skellys).

I just enjoy the fact that his main stat is CHA, for those who like being the face. And he can walk around as this weird dude who can Recall Knowledge on any creature, with the equivalent of Bardic Lore (using CHA instead of INT). And with the 9 different Implements, there can be a lot of mechanical differences based on style of play (healing, finding, talking, fighting, defending, learning, etc.)

Definitely a lot of fun to play.

Performance: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24 vs DC 16
