Nakapan and Crowley team up and strike the rune. Crowley's hit is so hard that the magic spell is disrupted! The rune is extremely dim now, and can't be long for this world.

The progenitor steps back, cursing the living. For a moment, all light is snuffed out and the chill of the Boneyard descends. The party bursts into the next room. The campire-turned-smoke is already gone, but the sight before everyone is a new threat entirely.

Tall, clustered columns of dark granite rise to an elaborate fan-vaulted ceiling eighty feet overhead, making this enormous chamber seem impossibly vast. Elaborate, pointed arches frame alcoves to the east and west, while similarly adorned double doors stand in the northern, western, and southern walls. Wide steps descend from the eastern half of the room into the larger western half, where a massive pillar of greenish-gray stone supports the ceiling above. What appears to be an empty door frame leading to nothing has been carved into the base of the pillar’s eastern face.

The most astounding sight in the room is the series of immense glassy spheres amid a tangled frame of metal and glass tubing that stands to the east. Within the spheres surges and bubbles an astounding amount of what appears to be blood that, even as portions are siphoned into tubes that run along the walls and occasionally vanish into the stone, is constantly replenishing its volume from the larger metal casing the entire contraption sits upon.

Sadlark gives the clear in the immediate area, and moves towards the center of the large multifaceted chamber. The stone pillar in the western portion of the room is hollow—tully and Sadlrk agree that it is likely part of a magical transportation system. The empty door frame on the pillar’s eastern face can see a faint indentation in the stone—Sorshen’s ancient rune of lust. Further inspection reveals faint smears of blood on the rune.

"Indeed, your musings are correct child."

Suddenly the party's attention turns. There's a progenitor atop the stairs in front of the strange machinery. It's not the same vampire whom you so recently defeated. "It has long been broken, a situation I'd see changed. Now, I am happy to answer questions, but know that I will bring down all of my might if you should cross me."

Black Dhougal's spell is wildly off target.

The progenitor laughs as he steps away from Crowley and immediately summons a burst of cold darkness. It lasts but a second, yet the damage and pain are incredible. Everyone takes COLD + NEG DMG: 8d10 + 8d4 ⇒ (10, 5, 9, 8, 10, 9, 3, 7) + (1, 1, 3, 1, 2, 3, 3, 4) = 79. Basic REF DC 33. Additional effects on a CRIT fail.

The spell damages some of the glass equipment in the east. The vampire snarls at the collateral damage, but doesn't seem too worried.
