Jevoomba keeps her distance, not wanting to spook the gnome who might be willing to give Fynn some information, but still tries to look for anything else off about it.

It seems that this entire gaudy show is made up of shams or just shoddy work. Her lips curl into a small smile. Ironic.

Seeing the mistake, Ms. Wahler chuckles to herself and wanders a bit closer, leaning to her side to put herself closer to the gnome.

"Come now. It's too obvious. She raises her eyebrows and straightens out again and brings out her pointer to indicate Golarion. "See this? That's West." The gnome watches, still not entirely sure about her point.

"And look at this, if you were facing West, right about now you'd be facing ..."

The gnome's eyebrows raised in enlightenment. "Sunrise." It smiles.

Ms. Wahler gives a thin smile back. "Precisely. Not exactly scientific, the mind that built this. Or maybe he's just never seen a sunrise."

Penelette sees the light (ha!) and looks at both Jevoomba and Fynn. She doubles over, laughing uproariously. She backs into a display and almost knocks it to the floor. She apologizes profusely before leaving the exhibit, laughing all the while.

You're all summoned by a bell ringing and gather in the central hallway. "Thank you all for coming. It is a pleasure to share my taste in art with you. Before we move along to what you've all paid for, that is, naming my favorite pieces in each exhibit, are there any comments anyone would like to share about what they saw? The pieces are mostly done by an up and coming artist I'm sure you'll all get to know."

Ms. Wahler mingles in the crowd, listening to reactions and laughing softly but derisively at anyone who enjoyed the exhibits. "Some people like anything put in front of them. It's all on this Generation-T - they simply accept what is set in front of them." She leans over to an older lady nearby. "I blame fiction books. I mean, what business do they have wasting paper on lies?!"

She does her best to make anyone who enjoyed the exhibit feel small and foolish, while approving of those who found flaws in that work.

The old lady looks at Jevoomba and nods. "I agree. Some of these so-called artworks are downright awful." she says in a conspiratorial whisper.

"I agree, some are just purely based around magic and little else if you look close enough." Fynn explains as he motions back to the mechanical display.

Arsennia does not fail to notice your actions and immediately calls you out for what you're doing.

"I've been watching you four bother my guests all evening. You don't look like the sort I would invite to events like these but somehow you were able to show invitations. So what do you have to say for yourself?!"

Ms Wahler is having absolutely none of her lip, but recognises the pride of the hostess and steps forward, speaking clearly but softly.

"I don't appreciate your tone, Ms. Vaville. We do not deign to visit exhibits of this calibre often, but when we do we expect the thanks of our host." She leans back a bit so that Arsennia can see her lack of smile, and makes eye contact. "The invitation did not come from you, but from someone with a vested interest in your continued success. We are here because there were reports that faux art and mechanisms of low quality were being passed to you as valuable pieces. Those reports turned out to be true, and we are here to help you maintain your dignity before you extend favor to a party that will destroy your reputation."

She looks her dead in the eye and lifts her chin a bit. "Now would you like our critiques or do we all fail at our jobs here tonight?"

Arsennia's face takes on a long-suffering look. "Do you have any critiques about the exhibits?" she finally asks, looking really apprehensive. (Picture a snooty highborn socialite being asked to, oh, I don't know, clear the dinner table... :)

Fynn turns red with embarrassment. "Sorry, I didn't men to disturb anyone. I just noticed that the clockwork exhibit in the Mechanical room was run all by magic and little else. It was made by an artist named Baltaram."

Ms Wahler chuckles, cruelly. "Yes, I've also seen some of the work of this Baltaram." She heavily emphasizes the word 'work' with about a thousand milliliters of sarcasm. She nods at the paintings nearby, "Those. Not a one of them was done by Baltaram, and I can prove it. Though it certainly has not stopped him from claiming them as his own."

Arsennia gasps as Jevoomba accuses Baltaram of fakery. "Well, I never!" To your credit, Arsennia does listen to your explanations and visits the exhibits in question to see for herself. "It's all true! Baltaram is a miscreant who has taken advantage of us! I have wronged Trinsky and hereby restore his reputation! You four have done me a great service this night. I will honor you by having my staff search the gallery so you may personally boot Baltaram out!"

As Arsennia denounces Baltaram, the door opens and in walks Baltaram himself, accompanied by his bodyguards. "I cannot stand idly by while my honor is sullied by these... these mudgrubbing Pathfinders. Have at thee!!" he rages as he clenches his fists. To his bodyguards, he bawls "Clobber them!"

But only so much as his speed allows him to leap into the middle of their group as he punches one of the bodyguards.

Abittus' words distract Baltaram enough that he appears flustered by the quip. His bodyguard is likewise flustered by Abittus' verbal attack.

"You insult my honor you filthy heathen. Feel my wrath!"

Baltaram swings his journal at Fynn, hoping to brain him with the book (ha!). As he swings, his rank breath and body odor waft out at Fynn, causing his head to spin.

Ms. Wahler scowls, considering the violent turn as the coward's excuse. "Very well. Let's see what your honor is worth."

She draws a Lesser Quicksilver Mutagen and drinks it ((Draw: ◆, Drink: ◆)), gritting her teeth as a sudden uncontrollable laugh escapes her mouth against her will.

Her fingers quickly find their way to her Blightbomb on her belt, and she throws it in one swift move. ((Quick Bomber: ◆)), aiming for Baltaram, and only Baltaram. ((Due to her Bomber training, she can opt to only hit Baltaram, rather than deal splash damage in the normal area.))

Lilting plods up behind Fynn as they draw outa softly green glowing sigil in the air. After a moment they give a low droning hum that seems to move the sigil like wind blowing paper across a table. The sigil lands on the monk and suffusing him with soothing energy. "Relax, you can survive this, no problem."

Abittus manages to loosen Red's grip on his sap by cutting at his fingers. He also strikes at Red, missing, but still inflicting some damage on Red. Lilting Rill meanwhile sends some much needed healing to Fynn.

Fynn unleashes a pair of strikes on Red. His second blow catches Red on the chin and sends him reeling. As Fynn cocks his fist back for another strike, Red throws his sap down and surrenders.

"Enough! Enough! I give up!!"

Once everyone has settled down, Dr Rolph and Penelette both arrive and make sure that the unconscious antagonists are stable, though both are forced to tie masks on their faces to stave off the eyewatering stench that is Baltaram.

"I'm glad that you all enjoyed the little spectacle this evening, " Arsennia says, "Of course, this has been the plan all along. Otherwise, where would the fun be with these soirees?"

Her eyes, however, give all of you a dagger-look until you walk out the door and head back to the inn to give Shance the good news.

You may RP how you will tell Shance the good news. Otherwise, thanks for playing all!

Fynn approaches Shance with a bit of blood and bruises on his knuckles. "Sorry Shance, I am not sure how much good we did. We found a man named Baltaram was impersonating a lot of art at the gallery. When we called him out he started a fight in front of everyone. We ended up getting tossed out." e explains the situation from his own perspective.

Ms. Wahler stands stiffly next to Fynn and gives her more logical perspective. "I think Baltaram has seen the dark side of plagiarism and rumor-mongering. He won't be bothering you or your uncle again."

She retrieves her notebook and a pen, "Now then, our fee?"

"Fee?" Shance asks, perplexed. He changes his mind after seeing Jevoomba's cold glare, however. "Oh, yes! Your fee. My uncle also would like to meet all of you and throw you a grand feast in gratitude."

Shance hands you each 4gp. Whether you accept the dinner invite or not is another story altogether.
