I heard from Hue, and he's good to pick up again. I DM'd Kalanzar to no effect, so I'm going to assume they're gone. I'm going to recon the last little bit to separate Kal from the group, but not outright kill him in case they're able to return.
I'll post a bit of a recap and get us going again. Thanks for your patience, and I hope everybody is having a great summer so far.

I will be on the road from This Thursday to this Sunday (Aug 14th-17th).
I'll set up some basic bot'ing details for anyone who would like to wear Hue if it becomes necessary

Madison Kokko |

Thanks for the healing, guys!
I can bot Hue if needed but only with actions. There is no way I could do justice to his words and personality :)

Huet-huet 'Hue' Proudfoot |

wont start a combat
Always tries to set up 'slayers prey' 1st bonus action
Will stay at range
will enter melee if ally is in melee and at all vulnerable
Will stumble into most vulnerable ally and use bait and switch
Doesn't have any combat skill - it's all clumsiness and luck
Special note:
Is deeply afraid of the malevolent entities that reside in all shadows and darkness
Is the bestest friend forever to all spiders

*Sigh* Move completed successfully, but lugging stuff to the third floor (power was out today for the renovations, so no lifts), seems to have given me a cold - 38,8C fever. Think I won't be posting much until this goes away.

Precious of Clan Ironeater |

Me too... turns out this wasn't just fever but a stomach bug with fever as a side dish... not feeling the hottest right now.

Hello everyone, folks!
It's been a long time, guys, more than two months. I apologize for such a disappearance. I've always said that this can't happen to me. And every time I've said "never" in my life, life itself "taps me on the nose" and shows me that "never say never».
Roughly speaking, there were two emotionally difficult moments in my life that happened at the same time. One is breaking off the engagement and canceling the wedding (on my initiative). The other is the sale of my parents' house, the place where I grew up. The place where I remember my parents alive and young, and whose walls still bore the marks of my childhood vandalism. The second was a long and difficult process. Take the parent library to the warehouse, sort out the mother's things and give something to charity, then find a buyer and prepare a bunch of all sorts of documents, and so on and so on… Well, the first one added fuel to the fire, and so I emotionally burned out and shut down for a couple of months, and I had to put a lot of important areas in my life on pause. Including the PbP. I just didn't have the strength to do anything else, the internal processes consumed all the energy. However, meditation and psychotherapy work wonders, and now I'm back in the ranks.
So. If my slot is not occupied yet, I would discuss with you the possibility of my return. There is a serious nuance here. I can play with you for two weeks, and then I'm going away for a month on a retreat, yoga and meditation, and I'll be there completely without communication. After that, I would join the game again (I think I've already left like this a couple of times during this campaign, it just used to be for 2 weeks). And here, of course, the question is whether you need a player who first disappeared for 2.5 months, then appeared for two weeks and disappeared again for a month. The answer "no" would be pretty fair. But if the answer is "yes", then I'm ready to come back. I love this story and I would be sorry not to know how it ends (no matter how many years it takes). I plan to stay in just two campaigns for now, including this one, which I've been playing for several years, and finish all the other PbP games until I'm sure that everything in my life has improved enough to withstand the previous PbP load.
Well... Anyway, I'm glad to post here again .)

Glad to hear from you! I'm sorry to hear you've had a very rough few months. Relieved to hear that you're okay.
Since we didn't know what was up, I've separated Kal from the party, but didn't do anything rash with him. I suggest that we play him separate for now, and then Kal can rejoin the party after you're back from your retreat. That way we don't need to bot him for that long.
If that sounds good, let me know when you're caught up reading the game, and I'll post for Kalanzar.

Love and peace out to you Kal
And a healthy dose of self-care (something I derided ten years ago and believe in more and more)
And very good to hear from you

Happy to see that you're back!
Thanks for sharing your challenges as that isn't always an easy thing to do. I appreciate you trusting us with that information.
I look forward to continuing to write this story with you and I'm curious to see how Kal gets back to us...eventually :)
Enjoy your upcoming retreat

Welcome back, Kal!
Also, I'm back. That fricking stomach flue thingey lasted whole 9 days... was feeling weak as a drowned kitten at the end there.

Thank you all! Angie H, this is just a great idea, and I think it will really be easier for everyone. Thank you so much for accepting me back, I really appreciate it!

Looking at the map in the slide deck, the only way forward is through the temple - correct? I didn't think there was any other direction to go.
At least the guard is super nice! At least for now...

Alexandra Edgaria Poeschkina |

Oh, it didnt register that I tried to edit it in a "if they dont have names, would they like to get names?" fashion.

Precious of Clan Ironeater |

I mean, I think there was the other end of the tunnel we got dropped in that didn't lead to this temple ruin... might be it leads somewhere, might be it just ends, but of the two this certainly seemed the more interesting option.

Huet-huet 'Hue' Proudfoot |

Push forward - Hue will go first if that helps. Otherwise, we take the marching order suggested on the map.

Angie H |

The blindness only lasts one round, so you can all see now. The water is getting slowly but steadily deeper, it's now at least one foot deep.
The room you're in has another hallway heading east - Alexandra can see it goes about 60 feet before turning sharply to the right. There is nowhere better or different that you can see to rest.
You've been down here about one hour.

Madison Kokko |

Is the water actively rising or we just notice it’s getting deeper? Don’t really like the idea of getting trapped down here with rising water

Huet-huet 'Hue' Proudfoot |

The water was well over Hue's knees as he waded toward the exit for the room. His face was covered in effort.

Huet-huet 'Hue' Proudfoot |

We took a good beating with that last lightning spewing thingy. A short rest would mean Hue gets his combat dice back but he's voting to press on - though it surely means another pasting.

Madison Kokko |

Maddy is definitely torn. They definitely need a short rest as a group, herself included, but this is definitely not her idea of a safe place to rest.
Even though it doesn't make a lot of sense, she will vote for a short rest for the health of the group. If the water begins to rise in a more alarming manner then she will suggest they get moving.

Alexandra Edgaria Poeschkina |

Its similar for Alex, warlocks are certainly short rest centric, and she has taken a few beatings too.

Precious of Clan Ironeater |

Resting in dungeons... I'm personally of the opinion that you shouldn't rest unless you are certain the place is secure and there can't be more enemies in the next room (or three) over just waiting to ambush you as you sleep...
Short rest in 5e is what? An hour? Plenty of time for more enemies to come over to see what all this noise was about (and the battle certainly was noisy).
