Huh, I totally forgot that rogues have that.
Angie H: would Ksenia be allowed to use that in the chase (each round she can use a bonus action to move her speed again, effectively allowing rogues to triple move with a dash rather than double)? I know we're not in combat rounds per se, so it's fair if not.

Kalanzar Mizzrym |

Wow! Perhaps the forum ate my post, but I blame myself much more. I edited it several times and sooner or later something had to go wrong.

Ziyad |
Is there a reason why you can't dash while using blindvision? You evaded the obstacle, so I think you went the full 60 feet
Each round familiar-vision steals the wizard's action. If I want it during a round, that's where my action goes. Its better for out of combat/round tracking...meaning I can't really make use of it in combat. But since I was at the front, I figured I had better dive in.

Quote:Does the demon have a form that looks solid?I believe it may be this...
That is indeed roughly what it looks like when solid. Only Jimjar was looking backwards when it was in that form, however. The rest of you have only seen the mist form.
I'll give Kalanzar a few more hours, and will hopefully update tonight.

Kalanzar Mizzrym |

I'm confused. I already made my actions after your last post - I got up and ran on. Is it my turn again?

Kalanzar Mizzrym |

GM Angie H, your favorite column "Kalanzar and his questions" is on the air ))
So. What happens if I don't make a dash in this round? Can I walk at least 30 feet according to the rules of the chase? Will I have time to catch my breath so as not to do a constitution check on the next round when I run again? And do I need to roll on obstacles now, I'm not rushing headlong?

Angie H |

Yay, my favorite column! :)
Chase rules are such: One action and one movement per turn. You can use your action to dash, or attack, or whatever else you choose. But the effect of the dashes are cumulative within the chase.
If you don't dash, then you don't have to roll obstacles.
I overestimated the Con of some of your pursuers, so I need to roll some con saves for them today too. Some are likely a bit further behind than I thought they were.
Also, once you break line-of-sight with them, you can always try to use stealth to hide.
Clear as mud?

Kalanzar Mizzrym |

Perfect explanation, thank you.)
UPD I think it's fair to assume that in this round my standard is my speech. There are already too many words for 6 seconds (which is equal to one round), so this is a whole Eminem-style recitative .))

Angie H |

Are we losing steam on this scene? If y'all need a break from being chased, we can move on.

Alexandra Edgaria Poeschkina |

It is admiddetly confusing currently.
From personal experience, reassembling is going to be a sizeable challenge in such a situation. Like, professional military troops could easily fail that (reassemble without comms in unknown and unmapped terrain, and the rest of the party doesnt even know kaspidar is a spider).
The other risk I see is this, Ksenia is behind the 3 lead drow. In normal real world tactics, ambushing them is a good idea.
In DND5e, each of them is individually miniboss territory, Ilvara being the BBEG, and they would likely wipe the floor with us.

Kalanzar Mizzrym |

He didn't manage to escape with us. Drow poison, perhaps?
It seems he was taken alive.

Kalanzar Mizzrym |

I won't say anything here, since I can't influence your overall plan while in another tunnel. I will try to rejoin the party, but what I find ahead depends on the actions of other players.

Alexandra Edgaria Poeschkina |

Posted, I am happy with the item, I didnt exactly find what I was looking for but this can probably work? The most mechanically useful I can see it directly is sacrificing it to lure or distract something, which Alexandra would absolutely loath doing.

I'm very curious about this cork with handholds solution. I just fell down the cork rabbithole - it's a very interesting substance!
Remind me what ability allows you to conjure the cork? I don't see it on your character sheet.
How do you envision this looking? Are you trying to keep the others dry? Or just have a flotation device to hold onto? I'm trying to figure out the physics of the situation.

Ziyad |
Ziyad has the Minor Conjuration ability as a level 2 Conjuration wizard.
Starting at 2nd level when you select this school, you can use your action to conjure up an inanimate object in your hand or on the ground in an unoccupied space that you can see within 10 feet of you. This object can be no larger than 3 feet on a side and weigh no more than 10 pounds, and its form must be that of a nonmagical object that you have seen. The object is visibly magical, radiating dim light out to 5 feet. The object disappears after 1 hour, when you use this feature again, or if it takes or deals any damage.
I mistakenly said 5 ft cube without checking reference, but its a 3 ft cube actually.
Not like a boat, but yes a floatation device.

My apologies, I've had some personal emergencies this week and haven't been able to be on here as much as I'd like. I'll try to post this weekend. I am still greatly enjoying this campaign, but if you need to bot me or move the action along otherwise in the next few days, I will understand.

Alexandra Edgaria Poeschkina |

Can Kapsidar spin silk to perhaps make a sail? Nah, wont work, where the hell is wind supposed to come from? Rope is always useful on any type of boat though.
Oh, as we are approaching 750 posts, what are everyones favorite moments so far?
Mine, in no particular order:
--The 2 gobboes were adorable
--Ka-whatevar shapeshifting shenanigians
--Ksenia, raider of the not yet lost drow pantries
--Ziyad of the Trollolollololol
--Maddy, who is somehow keeping calm inspite of rarely actually getting to finally let it all go and smesh everything around her into tiny bits.
--The majestic Sir Tummyrubs

Thanks for checking in. Sorry to hear that the start to the new year hasn't been smooth sailing. RL always comes first, and we'll be here when you're ready to return.
favorite moments
-Ziyad's increasing wardrobe
-Maddy fighting off her internal "devil"-Alex sprouting wings to save the halfling
-Ksenia cheerfully making mushroom much tasty
-Kalanzar lighting up with stars
DM, no worries let me know if it works or not in game with that much material.
Just did some math, and that could be a cork "log" that is 3'x6"x6". I think you could make that work. Everybody in the water, however, would be vulnerable to hypothermia and attack from below no, nothing, never mind, just cold water.
Plan - are you going to long rest here? Look around? Try to scavenge? Take shifts? I need some info.

Guys, I'm sorry but I just can't seem to find the motivation to continue here. I get frustrated just making rolls and one-liners instead of doing larger pieces of creative writing. At some point I lost momentum with Ziyad and can't seem to find it again. Some days I'll spend an hour just staring at the screen or writing something only to not post it. I haven't really made a post I was happy with since last June.
Has absolutely nothing to do with DM, game or players; its me not you. Again really sorry for leaving!

It's very-very sad to hear that. Perhaps you could stay as a player by changing your character? Who knows who we will meet in the Underdark?

That's totally fair - I've had characters that just never coalesced for me, and it's no fun to push it.
If you're interested in a different character, that's completely doable. If you'd rather step away, also fair. I hate to see you go, but if it isn't fun, then it isn't fun. Definitely don't feel guilty about it.

Ziyad |
Don't get me wrong its been fun for sure, I love all the creative problem solving going on and conjuration wizard is always great for that. I love Angie H's style of game. I just haven't been able to cough up a character day after day...looking at my post record its closer to like 1-2 a week on average. And again even then its like I'm just reacting to stuff instead of taking the initiative and putting my story out there.
I do still feel like playing wizard, but I might just step away and keep my game count a bit lower so I can spend more effort on DM prep. Thanks for the memories all.

Then I propose to invent a tragic death for Ziyad. This suits the setting, and to be honest, our intense adventure about survival in the most hostile world is the case when the "just silent disappearance" of a character will make me feel strange and may reduce the "immersion".

Kalanzar Mizzrym |

Btw Maddy, we had a long rest, so I think you could restore some HP because of this too if you wish.

Thank you! I keep forgetting that I can roll for HPs after a long rest. I will do that.

Blargh. I hate losing players. I totally get that RL comes first, and not every game/system/group/campaign works for everybody. But still.
Yes, my general rule is that players that quit = dead characters. I'll play Ziyad for a bit until then, so hopefully it won't be super obvious when it's coming.
Everybody else, thanks for sticking with me!

Ksenia Frostforge |

Hi all, sorry for being absentee for a bit, as I said before my absence I was having a cascade of family health emergencies. I think we're in the clear now, or at least as clear as it will be.
I'm enjoying the campaign quite a bit and would like to keep playing, thank you for botting Ksenia a bit while I was out. Sorry to see Ziyad go, but I appreciate their letting us know and think the idea of SURPRISE dramatic death is a good one.
In any case, I'll slide back in with a post after bit.
