Vinexa |
Vinexa found the idea of what they would be fighting more than a little disturbing and knew she would have significant troubles fighting it. She needed more energy and decided that it would be wise to get it now as unobtrusively as she could. She knelt next to one of the goblins and began to stroke it's head gently several times. The goblin seemed to enjoy the touch considerably but after the sixth stroke of it's head the creature, now exceptionally calm, passed out.
Vinexa rose and moved away since she knew what Tibrim was going to do so she walked away and waited. Vinexa looked much more vibrant than she had before, more full of life, and very alluring.
Tribim |
Not sure if the goblin is unconscious or not so will not CDG, but when Vinexa drew near, he would have flanked.
having stretcher his cat patience to nearly bursting, Tribim was relieved when the conversation was over and Vinexa started to Calm the goblin down. As she lifted her hands off of the creature Tribim moved to the other side scratching and biting with tooth and claw.

He then quickly draws the 'dogslicer' and cuts off the goblins ears, checking the body for anything else of value. Looking up to the 'big folk' he smiles and asks, "Meuwsters ready to move on?"

The Game-Mastering Cat |
The goblin lets out a howling shriek of agony as Tribim sets upon it to tear off its ears with tooth and claw.
The goblin was carrying a cure potion and 40 gil on its person.
The screaming sends a stir through the barren village... murmurs in the Goblin tongue come from within several of the village's huts, followed by the sounds of metal blades coming free from leather and bone.
You have 1 round to prepare. It sounds like more goblins are incoming.
Tarka Ronso |
Ah, it sounds like you've put out the call for a party, little cat-man! Tarka bellows.
He backs away from the front door and watches it carefully.
Readied action: if a goblin comes through the door, cast ten needles
Sona Tanaka |
The goblin unconsciously screams, somehow alerting the other goblins in the immediate area. She can hear the clamor in the village and quickly moves outside, readying to strike a spell at the first goblin she sees coming at them.
"So they are still here..." she opines concerning their presence.
Vinexa |
Vinexa sighed as the goblin screamed while dying, she had hoped that it would at least remain unconscious in it's coma state. Nothing to be done for it now. "So do we fight or try to run?"
Sona Tanaka |
"I think we can fight them if we bottleneck them!" she replies, looking for a place to run tactically that would offer a nice bottleneck where the archers/casters could perhaps attack from above.
Tribim |
not everyone has moved on the map, I assume you all came into the hut to interview the goblin?
Smiling at Taraka, Tribim looks confused at Vinexa, "Meuwsters shouldn't run from Goblins, sets a bad Puuurrrrresident." He nods at Sona's idea to bottle neck them, Moving to the other side of the door, he waits to bushwhack any goblin that runs in.

The pattering of small footsteps on wood and mud starts to sound throughout the village, bringing with them the chattering of squeaky, nasal Goblin.
The hut's southwestern door opens to reveal a goblin in front of the open door, with a pair of goblins behind them--and looking out the southeastern door reveals a cluster of five goblins in the mud outside.
Tarka's ten needles spell goes off, flying at the goblin in the doorway!

Round 1: The party is up!
Sona Tanaka |
Targetting left most goblin in H3 zone. Straight shot from Sona through the open door.
Without hesitating or waiting to see what the goblins will do, she hurls an offending spell at them. A winters chill fills the room, and the image of a misty snowflake materializes. Then, with a deft hurl, she flings it straight into a dodging goblin. No matter how hard he tries to dodge to the left or right, she takes all of this into account and lets it fly. Resembling a mighty large ninja star, if it hits, it will surely cause some icy damage!

Vigny Olafursdottir |
Without much room on the walkway, Vigny is forced to use her bow and take a shot from the doorway. Bows aren't really her thing, but Tribim isn't large enough to completely block her sight. She aims for the rear goblin, judging it to be the cleaner shot she might take.
Attack (Ranged): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Vinexa |
Without a good target to attack Vinexa moved up to flank the doorway in case any of the goblins tried to enter the building.
Tarka Ronso |
Tarka has the view directly orthonal to Sona's out of the door. He spies the Northern-most goblin in the same cluster, and fires another ten-needles at it.
Needles!: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
He stays put on the inside by the door, recognizing that they can only come in one-at-a-time.
The Game-Mastering Cat |
Alrighty! Thank you for your patience!
Sona: Targeting Red Goblin
Sona's icy shuriken strikes the goblin square in the neck--and slices it clean off! The resulting spray of blood is frozen in a sudden burst of frost as the headless goblin turned modern art masterpiece topples over in the mud.
Tribim: Targeting Black Goblin
The palico lunges forward, his teeth sinking into the filth-encrusted flesh of the goblin's shoulder and biting hard! The goblin squawks, but stands firm!
Vigny: Targeting Navy Blue Goblin
Vigny's arrow flies true and sticks in the goblin's gut, knocking the wind out of it and causing it to double over!
Vinexa: Hold Action.
Tarka: Targeting Green Goblin
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Tarka sprays a volley of needles out the doorway, and the goblin shrieks and throws himself to the side. He gets up from the mud mostly unharmed, save for a needle in one of his butt cheeks.
Round 1: Goblins!
Tribim's opponent draws a rickety-looking dogslicer and swings at him!
Swing: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
With his exceptional reflexes, Tribim barely manages to lean away from the blade--it passes to within an inch of his nose!
The goblin behind him pulls the arrow out of his gut and nocks it in his bow, aiming it at Vigny!
Shot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage?: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The returning arrow rakes across Vigny's arm!
The freshly-needled goblin draws a dogslicer and runs at Tarka, waving it wildly and swinging at him!
Swing: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

The ronso takes a nasty cut to the shin!
The remaining three goblins out in the mud begin to unlimber narrow tubes from their backs and start shoving sticks down their holes!
Round 2: The party is up!

The ronso growls at a volume that echoes throughout the room.

He steps back out of its reach and unleashes another volley of needles.

Vinexa |
Venexa was surprised when one of the goblins actually came into the hut after them causing the big Ronso to move back from it. She quickly lashed out with her claws, not trying to do anything but sheer damage this time around, at the goblin right next to her.

claw 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d4 ⇒ 1
Unfortunately the shifty little bastard was faster than she expected and her attacks missed the mark.
Tribim |
Smirking as Vigny's arrow pierces the second goblin, Tribim dodges the goblins blade. The goblins blood dripping from his mouth, he almost sounds like he's purring, "You should have ran!" Biting at the goblin again, his teeth clacking together as the goblin dodges. He follows up the missed bite with both claws, one raking across the goblins shoulder the other wide right.

Sona Tanaka |
With the goblins edging their way into the room, she hesitates slightly at the sudden fear of getting hurt. After being on the streets, she's been beaten a couple of times. Perhaps it is this fear that brings out hesitation in the otherwise sheltered girl, but she tries to overcome, focus on her spell, and cast.
Despite the goblin being in combat, her aim is true in predicting his behavior. She unleashes a streaming ray of lightning from her elemental orb spell, seemingly coming from her hand and then projected outward with lightning speed toward the goblinoid creature.

The Game-Mastering Cat |
Reflex Save vs. Needles (Green Goblin): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Tarka's needles fly forth--and this time, the goblin doesn't have enough room to escape. The little green thing is riddled with quills and sent backwards, toppling into the mud.
Sona, seeing Tarka's goblin fall, dives underneath a nearby pallet of hay and hides herself. You may take that MP back, Sona.
Tribim's claw finds its mark, raking across the goblin's shoulder all the way to his throat. He gurgles and falls over, dying quickly.
Round 2: Goblins
The wounded goblin turns his bow on the palico and fires!
Shot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage?: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The arrow strikes the palico in the shin--the goblin pumps his fist in triumph and runs south, further into the village.

One goblin manages to maintain control of his candle for long enough that it fires into the roof of the hut--and causes it to start smoking.
Desnan Candle for Orange: 1d20 ⇒ 3
The other candle's projectile flies over the village wall and out into the swamp.
Round 3: The party is up!
Tarka Ronso |
Oh great! They think they will burn down their village with us in the huts. Let's show them...
Tarka strides out of the hut and onto the ground in front of the goblin gang, firing more needles at the nearest one.

Sona Tanaka |
It was a cantrip, so I'm good on MP. :) And for some reason, those dice are being very goblin-like for you. :P
Seeing the danger to the roof, Sona forms water from where she is hiding and splashes the area caught on fire. She then will move out from where she was hiding as her companions all leave the hut. She will head after the lovely Vinexa and watches to see what she does!
Casting Elemental Orb again, this time with water, to counter the fire that has been attempted to start.
To her, even though this is a goblinoid village, it is not far from Sandpoint, and for those who were going to suffer this winter and possibly freeze to death on the streets like her, she'd as soon not see it all go up in flame. The displaced, homeless, and poor can find a temporary shelter there. There are countless items in these huts worth something to someone (the straw bales that she hid behind for example).
Tribim |
I'm assuming that sinse Tribim can still see the goblin, that it left the door open
"Pphhhhsssssstttttt." Unable to dodge the goblin's arrow, Tribim Hisses at the archer in anger for shooting him in the shoulder. Seeing the goblin flee, Being the cat that he is he cannot resist giving chase, cornering the goblin he bites at its neck.

Vigny follows Tribim; he shouldn't be left alone without any support. But she also doesn't love the idea of everyone spreading out across a large place they know nothing about. It's simply to easy to be lured into ambushes that way.
"Tribim, we shouldn't chase! We don't know what's ahead!"

Alrighty--thank you for your patience!
Sona manages to extinguish the fire with a quick application of watery magics. Tarka's needles fly forth in a storm--
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
--and the blinded goblin is ruthlessly cut down.
Seeing as her target is already dead, Vinexa lunges at the northernmost goblin--the one responsible for trying to set its own village on fire. She manages a glancing blow across the goblin's with her claw.
Vigny gives chase after Tribim and catches up in time to watch the palico sink his fangs into the back of the fleeing goblin's neck. With a quick jerk of his head, there's a SNAPPING noise and the goblin goes limp.
The remaining two goblins shriek in panic and begin to flee--the teal one running for the village gate and the orange one running to the south!
Vinexa has an AoO, and I'm willing to call this encounter over!
Sona Tanaka |
With the remaining goblinoids fleeing she will do her part to send spells after them to ensure their deaths. In cooperation with the others, they will easily gather more goblin ears and whatever goods they possess (not that they may want them).
When the fighting and searching of bodies is done, she will sit down on the elevated step into the closest hut they've already cleared and will relax a bit. Spellcasting can be just as taxing as their melee counterparts experience when finishing a battle.
Slowly, she catches her breath and then readies herself:
"Let's finish searching here."
Tarka Ronso |
One of them ran to the South! I think they will still be hiding out in this village! Let's collect the ears, but if we go snooping around the village some may have fled into buildings we search.
He sets to collecting ears like so much work chopping down trees or cleaning dishes.
When the party is ready, he would peek into the nearest hut currently to the East of orange on the map.
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 ha!
Tribim |
Spitting out the dead limp goblin Tribim turns towards Vigny giving a smile and a shrug, seemingly explaining the nature of things. "Vermin run meow chase." He licks his paw and wipes the blood off of his face, repeating the process till he's reasonably clean. Then kneeling near the dead goblin, he draws out the borrowed dog-slicer and cut's it's ears off. Tucking them in his bandolier as he moves past Vigny he kneels by the second goblin, cutting it's ears off as well.
Hearing one of them ran to the south, Tibim passes through the hut back to the courtyard, "Puuurrrrrchance meuwsters want to follow?" looking at the others he asks, "Which way did the vermin go?" Seeing the big Ronso opening the door to the hut Tribim scampers up the ladder peaking in as well.

Since the Palico is bouncing around all over the place but not going too far, Signy stops trying to follow. She descends a ladder to the ground and waits until everyone else to ready to keep going.
Vinexa |
When the last goblin tried to run away Vinexa lashed out with the claws of one hand as a parting swat.
claw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d4 ⇒ 3
Vinexa then looked around before taking out a cloth and wiping the goblin blood off of her claws. "Yes, let's finish here and then follow the fleeing goblins."
The Game-Mastering Cat |
Alrighty--now that the summer heat has let up a bit, let's see if I can keep this going!
Vinexa's claw falls short of its target--the goblin keeps on fleeing into the marsh as fast as his little legs can carry him.
Tarka throws open the door to the eastern hut and is rewarded with a sudden breeze--the empty, filth-strewn hut beyond has another door to the east that's been recently thrown open.
The glint of something made of glass shines in the evening light, coming from underneath one of the muddy straw pallets... it looks like a potion bottle.
Sona Tanaka |
Sona stacks up behind the others. So far, the homeless mage has proven her worth probably far more than those there expected her to. She readies herself for what may come.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 (+1 vs traps)

Tribim |

lifting the small glass vial she shows it to Tarka (whose legs he crawled through to get in the room) and Sona (who was right behind him) asking "Meuwsters be able to tell what kind of purrr-otion?"
Handing the potion off, he points towards the door on the east, asking "Meuwsters work Clock-wise, clear purrrrr-imeter then clear interior?" Moving towards the eastern door he carefully checks it for traps, after making sure it's clear, he'll open the door.

Tarka Ronso |
Hey! The Ronso shouts as the small cat man shoots between his legs.
It quickly shifts to intrigue when he holds up the potion.
Ooh! Good cat's eyes. I'm sure we can figure it out, between Sona, Vinexa, and I! Let's see...
spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 oops
The Game-Mastering Cat |
Tribim examines the open doorway to the east--and is wise to do so. There's a thin tripwire stretching across the doorway, at a height that a goblin would readily notice and avoid. Disarming the tripwire and the filth-encrusted spear hanging above the door is all too easy for the palico.
Sona Tanaka |
"Here we go. It is a bottle of antidote." She hands it over and then follows after the others. When there is a trap actively being disarmed, she will back away until the job is done. When all is safe and clear, she will proceed with the others.
Tribim |
Rolling his his eyes at the 'cat's eyes' comment Tribim hands the potion to Sona. Hearing the potion was a bottle of 'antidote' Tribim points to the spear trap. "Makes Purrrr-fect sense."
After disabling the wire and the trap, Tribim picks up the filth-encrusted spear. Looking at the tip, he shrugs "Shouldn't change how well it throws."
Once the rest of the group is ready, he moves through the doorway turning south, spear in hand, keeping a keen eye out as he goes. Pausing at the doorway to his left east he surveys the rubble, then turns to the southern door and inspects it for traps and locks as well. Once he feels it's clear, he will open the door.
Taking 10 (15) on perception in the hallway and looking out the eastern door taking 20(25/27) on perception checking the door for traps. If trapped he'll take 10(20/21) on disable device for locks or traps. You'll notice a pattern here. Taking 10 on halls and rooms, taking 20 on doors. It will not hurt my feelings if others want to make perception checks as well. Taking 10 I don't think he'll see anything hidden
Vigny Olafursdottir |
Signy picks up with the same arrangement as before when the group moves on. She stays behind Tribim, following him. She sticks with her bow, figuring it's better if she waits until she sure of a close engagement before switching to her sword.

The Game-Mastering Cat |
Tarka's magic swirls for a moment around the spear, causing the filth coating its hardened tip to flake and disintegrate.
You now have a clean spear sized for a Small humanoid.
With Tribim taking point, the party advances through the goblin village. A cold wind sweeps in from the east, carrying with it the uncomfortable stench of peat and swamp water. The trees overhead rustle, the clashing of their leaves sounding like despondent sighs against the otherwise grave-like calm of the village.
As the palico advances, he notices that there don't appear to be any functional traps or locks remaining on the path--indeed, he notices broken spears and trampled tripwires.
The sounds of a door being rapidly battered by tiny fists fills the air as the party continues forward--and its source becomes immediately evident. Four goblins are hammering at a pair of double doors leading to a much larger hut to the southeast; comparing its size to that of the smaller huts around it, that must be where their leader, Chieftain Gutwad, is holed up. They babble and yell in their screechy, high-pitched tongue...
"LET US IN! LET US IN! PLEASE! PLEASE!"
"LONGSHANKS ATTACKING! AND DEMON CAT TOO!"
"I'LL CLEAN YOUR THRONE WHENEVER YOU WANT! JUST DON'T LEAVE US OUT HERE!"
Tarka Ronso |
Tarka smiles his tusky grin and whispers to his companions.
Finally we come to the most important pair of ears! Should we charge in now or see how far these licktoads get?

Sona's magic coalesces and flies towards the nearest goblin at the same time Tribim's new spear arcs through the air. Her spell strikes the goblin in grey, twisting its body into a concave arc and killing it instantly.
The sudden death of one of their comrades provokes enough shock that the goblin clad in orange stumbles away from the incoming spear without even realizing it was flying at its head. When Vigny lets out her yell, the orange goblin lets out a shriek and jumps down into the mud... this time, it starts to run around the back of the massive hut.
The remaining two goblins, perhaps realizing that they're on their own, draw dogslicers and let out a shrieking war cry before they start hacking at the doors!
