Yeah. Physical dice rolls for actual secret checks makes perfect sense.
Yasami |
I pinky swear I am not a dice fudger.
That is exactly something a dirty dice fudger would say.
Lisitsei Nagorát |
There used to be a "dice roller" thread somewhere on the forums where GMs could roll dice and cackle madly.
I generally just use the Google Dice Roller, remember the roll (I haz short term memory!) and tell the folks the result.
I suppose the workaround COULD have been "Hey GM, roll a Nature check for meeee?" so that a flexing-PC still won't know how much they don't know---but that is getting rather silly.

Is that the PBP equivalent of the GM just idly rolling dice behind the screen and scribbling on random scratch paper?

Diplomacy has been left off of that macro sheet thing.
Edit: And intimidation.
Edit again: And performance.
Edit for the third time: Never mind. I just now read all that writing at the bottom and now know WHY you left all that off.
What does annoy me is I missed Athletics. How could I miss THAT one?! Ugh.
Javell DeLeon |
So it isn't just Lisi that rolls really badly.
Let's hope that our DM always rolls that way.
Are you talking about Fern, Caiten? If so, I'm not sure I'd go with "really badly" because Fern just BARELY - and when I say BARELY I mean BARELY - missed Joran. And you're talking about the length of a fingernail. Joran could feel the breath of that blasted dog. :P

But she still missed.
And it is more that she missed the first attack with both of the Goblin Dogs. Considering the attack bonus, that is almost more impressive than just a single nat1. I haven't done all of the math for this specific case, but generally two failures on high percentage success rolls is rather low. That's why fortune effects are so powerful.
Lisitsei Nagorát |
I uh, just now, wait, Fern is a woman? I never assume anyone's gender on here, except in this case I did, because I was unconsciously upholding the patriarchy just now. *headsmack*
(I have played with many people on these forums who do not reveal their gender, and I think that's absolutely their right and totally fine. Still doesn't excuse my assumption!)
But apparently Lisi's player also is rolling Nat 1's on Perception. Roll me in goblin dog dander. :P
Javell DeLeon |
Low? Okay. Will give you that. Impossible? Not in the least. I'd even give it a "probable". But that's because I'm basing it off of "me" and my experience. Unfortunately. :P
Let me prove to you: Check this LINK out.
It's actually 19 rolls, but, I manage only 5 double digit rolls. 5 out of 19! That's horrendous. At worst it ought to be at the very least 9.
And only 1 attack out of 8 hit! That's horrendous. Seriously, what are the odds? Bad, that's what. And you sure can't beat 'em. Well... I can't. :P

Lol!
That's awesome! Not too many women on these boards. I'm actually in another game in where the DM is a gal. She's a real good DM as well.
Boy that explains a lot too. No wonder you play the female characters so fantastically well. :)
So cool. :)
Javell DeLeon |
Joran will back up once it is his turn for the very reason of allowing others to engage.
If I've learned ANYTHING from what little PF2 I've played it's: NEVER sit there and go toe to toe with ANYTHING. In PF1 you stand there and trade punches with the baddie.
You don't do that in PF2. That's a recipe for death. You've got to make it to where you're not surrounded by multiple enemies at once. Just 2 enemies is a potential for 6 attacks in one round! And with that many attacks, YOU WILL get hit.
Just sayin'.
Caiten |
Would Hornet not be able to move through Oren's square? He is an allied creature.
Yes, it is at least possible. Moving through creatures
May not be a good idea tactically though.
Caiten |
Cev was going to wait to heal, sounds like, but no one took damage.
Yeah, that is what I got out of that too.
But since Heal probably isn't needed at this exact moment, it might be worthwhile to use Telekinetic Projectile since there is that juicy open line to an enemy currently.
Also, not sure if Bless affects Spell Attack Rolls or not. It doesn't affect Spell DC. Which is unfortunate, but save-based spells are generally strong enough already (other than incapacitation ones). I would think that Spell Attack Rolls are affected by Bless because it is a type of Attack Roll, but a ruling on that would be good for peace of mind.

TKP it is then, give me a few ...

It's kind of annoying that RAW, you cannot Demoralize animals. Only creatures that understand the language you're using. You can't go "rawr!" to a dog? Hmph.
Hornet* |
You can demoralize animals, you just take a -4 to the attempt since they don't understand language, and I think there are feats that remove that penalty.
Yasami |

It's called Intimidating Glare. Demoralise loses the language trait with that one.
Lisitsei Nagorát |
But I need the Assurance feat for Treat Wounds! :( :D
I need the Core Rulebook. AONPRD ain't cutting it.
Caiten |
But I need the Assurance feat for Treat Wounds! :( :D
You don't need Assurance. It just helps quite a bit. There is also the Crying Angel Pendant (but that is for First Aid, not Treat Wounds). Assurance generally won't let you auto-succeed at the best levels of Medicine Treat Wounds available to your character level (though I think there are some levels that do). You usually still have to roll for those. It will let you auto-succeed at lower level options of Treat Wounds though.

d20 has it also. Assurance feat
The Assurance feat seems pretty handy, but the only thing that bugs me about it is that you ONLY get your proficiency bonus. That's it.
Javell DeLeon |
Per posting: When you post something, odds are it is going to disappear/not show initially. All you have to do is refresh. Sometimes you have to refresh multiple times but it's there. It's annoying but it is what it is.
The post is there it just doesn't show up when you hit "submit" sometimes. Or, most of the time. For me anyway.
You just gotta keep hitting refresh and eventually it'll show up for you.
Okay, putting my cursor over the circle arrow at the top left of my computer says "reload" instead of "refresh". Whatever, I always call it refresh anyway.

Yeah, I have seen a lot of people mistake Assurance for the feats and talents that were in PF1 that allow take-10 in additional situations. It isn't.

I don't suppose we could please keep this type stuff for the discussion thread, could we? Putting it in the gameplay thread just kind of messes it up and is out of place.
I know, I know. "Man that Javell sure is anal!" Fair enough. I'll give you that. Hey, at least I said please! You've got to at least give me that. :P
Yasami |
I actually agree with you. I'd prefer to have gameplay thread clean, within reason. There is a discussion thread for this ooc chatter, anyway.
Lisitsei Nagorát |
Per the dogs: You know what I just read the other day? We could use Nature as diplomacy toward the dogs. But that would require them not already being mad at us. :P
Yeah, that only works when the animal is not hostile nor unfriendly to you.
Anyhoo, I won't pollute the Gameplay thread again!

2 - the Gameplay Thread is for Joran's shirt to come off

See, this is why I wanted to get them out a bit more. So we can flank, basically.
We did bottleneck them here, yes, but I believe, if you flanked, at least one of those would land.
Also, Cevendyll... I saw it.
Lisitsei Nagorát |
If there's anyone acrobatic enough to hop over them, that would also work.
Lisi misses his torts, clearly. (among other things. He seems to miss most things.)
Yasami |
Great minds, Lisitsei.
Lisitsei Nagorát |
Oh huh, I think Heal doesn't remove the Sickened condition. -1 on those rolls and checks and Lisi will need to purge next round...anyhow, he still misses. Gag me with a spoon!
Caiten |
And you probably both need Fort saves again at either the end of this round or the start of your next for the progression of the affliction. Fun times.
Lisitsei Nagorát |
gritty! Well, with a party of 8 we can afford to have some folks slowed down...very evocative.

lol...Cev, as to your question about how injured people are, I've been keeping it accurate in Roll20. You should be able to see the green hp bar over peoples' heads to get an idea. Since I have it open, I'll point out that Lisi is diseased, but no one is missing more than a few HP (Dario is down 4, so he's at 13/17, and Caiten is down 1, 15/16).
