The crit gets you 10, the other roll another 5, Joran. If you do it near the steps you can reach them with that! Man, climbing is hardcore in 2E.
Also I'm illiterate and there is a rope there, dangling from a grappling hook, making the check much easier for folks.

As for climbing, there is also Aid and if we had anyone with Expert proficiency at climbing, Follow the Expert. I don't think it is possible to get Expert proficiency at any skill at level 1 though.

Mostly because the battle ended before you or Lisi got to really do anything. But that is what happens when there are 7 players and 1 enemy. Unless the battle goes the other direction instead.

But Cev doesn't have a cool social title like, "The Oaf" so he still feels set apart by his halfelfism and not like one of the "cool kids"

Using the hero point would let you re-roll the check and not fall in the first place (assuming you roll better). I don't see any restriction on retrying a climb check. So if you fall, you can retry just fine. But you might take fall damage depending on how far you fall. Since that was your first check, it is probably less than 5 feet though (so no damage).

Was opening the Holy Symbol to be ready ... in case the spell needed to be cast. But first, as a good cleric, I thought Cev would try to be reasonable.

You know, I read Coerce and yet, I'm still thinking he gets to roll a Will save. Man I'm having a hard time keeping the two systems apart. I'm thinking to myself: "Man I sure hope he doesn't roll an awesome save." :P
I just saw "Will" and I mentally went straight to: "Will save".
So I guess it boils down to how good his Will DC is. So weird. "Will DC". Does make it a lot simpler though.
