"I hope someone is better than I am at this sort of thing and can take care of that cauldron without beating it flat. They kind of need it for the holiday."
Zantal
|
Zantal starts to sing. "We're all going to be ok. We're all going to be ok."
He looks around hesitantly, unsure what to do about an animated house and a glowing cauldron. He briefly mutters a cantrip and continues singing as he hides behind the beefiest ally.
◆ Inspire Courage
◆ Shield
◆ Move, if possible, so that Jyllian is between Zantal and the Cobbleswarm.

The paladin has had enough of the indignities and standing up grasps his holy symbol

Abbitus and Arakwernott still to go
Abittus Rullio, The Chronicler

"Oh, how awful!" Abbitus cries as he sees Kidron fall to the swarm, but seems relieved when the half-elf appears unharmed.
[b]"Those glowing runes on the cauldron look out of place. Perhaps, they are connected to the swarm somehow?"[/] The Pathfinder approaches the cauldron and tries to discern what is going on.

Occultism is the correct skill
Occultism: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
All he knows is that they are a magical induced aberration swarm.
Kidron - Yes - they seem to be weak to area damage.
The cobbleswarm falls to dust but it looks like the cauldron is about to burp out some more.
Arakwernott still to go.
I just reset where the cobblestones will appear after Arawernott's turn

Arakwernott delays until after the cauldron spits out more stones. They land adjacent to the caudron so he hits them two handed
hammer: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Unless Arakwernott wants to spend a Hero Point for another go, the cobbleswarm moves into his space (which is now difficult terrain and does Grasping Bites
athletics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Arakwernott falls prone and is grasped by the cobbles but takes no damage.
Everyone else is up.
Ulvard

Ulvrad hustles forward, swinging his mallet at the swarm.
"GAhhh, brruahh, yayahhahahha" he shouts. Maybe it means something in rockish?

Then he swings it a second time.

There are glowing red runes on the cauldron producing these cobblestones that needs to be disabled (4 successes required, Arcana, Thievery or Crafting) - or you could just destroy the cauldron.
Seeing more nasty rocks emerge from the cauldron and eying the runes, Abittus cries out with concern. "I must admit, I have never faced something like this before. It all seems rather unusual, though the stones and these markings appear to be connected. Perhaps, if I try this..."
With a chip of a stone on the ground, he begins etching into the pot, altering the magical markings of the cauldron so to vent some of their power away from the contents of the pot.
Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
I suspect the disable attempt takes 2 actions.

It does
That is one success, you require three more to shut the whole thing down.
phaeton_nz

That is two successes.
Arakwernott Siss

Very sorry about the MIA, I had issues logging in to the forums for a while there. Thanks for the bot phaeton.
Arak is surprised at the suddenness of the attack as the rocks swarm him and knock him to the ground.
Do I have the grabbed condition currently? If so, going to try to escape...If not, I can replace with another attack action.
◆ Escape check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
◆ He wrestles himself out from under the swarm and stands.
Having freed himself, Arak then takes a swing with his hammer at the swarm. Should I be up in front of the swarm/cauldron from when I was botted, or is there a swarm on my space?
◆ Attack with two handed hammer @swarm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
phaeton_nz

Arakwernott - There is a swarm in your space but you are able to escape the grab and batter much of it into bits.
Kidron and Jyllion are still to act. At least half of the current cobbleswarm is destroyed and there are two more runes on the cauldron that need fixing.
Jyllian Kero
|
Jyllian moves to the current swarm and swats it twice.
Bastard Sword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 for Two-Hand: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Bastard Sword: 1d20 + 7 - 5 ⇒ (17) + 7 - 5 = 19 for Two-Hand: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
phaeton_nz

Out of the swarm, there are still one or two active cobbles left.
phaeton_nz

Unfortunately Religion isn't much use here but, since the cauldron isn't about to spit out more cobbles, everyone who can make Arcana, Thievery or Crafting to fix the last two runes may do so. You are quite certain that doing so will render the cauldron and the cobbleswarm inert.
Jyllian Kero

Jyllian moves up to the cauldron, holding her sword awkwardly in her left hand. She pulls a couple of tools from her belt and tries to manipulate the sigils.
Thievery: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 (Hero Point)
Thievery: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Abbitus continues to deactivate the runes.

Abbitus manages to quickly deactivate the remaining runes and the cauldron goes inert. At the same time, the remaining bits of the cobbleswarm turn back into inert pebbles.
Upon returning to her cottage with the meat for the stew, Kupyn is initially shocked at the mess but thanks you when she learns what happened.
Upon hearing what happened at Kupyn’s cottage, everyone in Scallion’s Wrap comes to help her rebuild and make rock stew in a show of Winter Week spirit, even without the magic cauldron. As a reward for saving the town, you each receive their payment, along with a generous helping of rock stew.
