Just thought new day, new FORT

The party comes to another waterfall and cliff about 20’ high. You see several large kobolds at the top of the cliff. One of the kobolds, who wears a headband with feathers of some sort hanging from it and holds a staff, points at you and shouts.
You are approximately 150’ from the cliff.

He says throw down your weapons and an audience with the dragon will be granted. What do you think Dwol, could be your chance to get without bloodshed.-Halafrin gibes at the dwarf.

Dwoldrean Brewbelly |

Dwol thinks seriously for a few moments-I don't like it, but I'm willing to give it a go if the party agrees. Kobolds are nasty little lizards, bigger in this case, but generally have a streak of law in them. what do you think Chack, Garric? Might be a way to get the armor without getting anyone killed. My goal is Janderhoff, not killing dragons.

Halafrin Mistweaver |

Halafrin shakes his head in disbelief I wasn't really serious; a fireball and some arrows seems like a much better plan, but OK here it goes.
Shouting up to the kobolds-बौना उठ्नेछ, तर उसले तिम्रो जिब्रो बोल्दैन। तपाईंहरू मध्ये कोही सामान्य वा बौना बोल्नुहुन्छ?

Halafrin Mistweaver |

Sorry Dwol but they only appear to speak Draconic. No way I am I going up there to get in their scaly clutches. Only one thing for it I suppose; it was a hare-brained idea in any case. Be about your business Garric.

Dwoldrean Brewbelly |

Dwol shakes his head in disgust-When we get to someplace where I can have a few drinks, I'm going to get nice and toasted and tell you what's what elf.
Any way up besides climbing or flying?

Search the bodies -detect magic-
Head towards the cave looking for dangers.
perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31+1 for traps
Once we reach the cave entrance cast:
-resist energy- on Dwol, Garric, and Halafrin (Chack has the wolf pelt); (80 minutes); cold/10
-mage armor- on Halafrin (60 minutes); AC now 18
If light source is needed, -light- on Dwol's shield.

Lead the way Dwol.
perception in the cave: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (17) + 19 = 36+1 for traps

perception on way to the cave entrance: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (10) + 19 = 29
At the cave:
Well I guess this is what we came here for. No way to talk our way through things now I guess.-Dwol looks wryly at Hal.
perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (5) + 19 = 24

DM Darkvision |

The party heads up to the cave, no traps are found but there are kobold tracks in abundance. At the cave entrance Hal and Garric cast spells. Chack puts on the wolf cloak, this requires removal of cloak of resistance.
The cave is approximately 120’ wide, 250’ high, and you can see it is at least 300’ deep with darkness extending beyond that. The floor of the cave is a sheet of thick ice with a river of water flowing out from the bottom. A large white dragon sits watching you from about 200’ away within the cave.

Dwoldrean Brewbelly |

OK for us to try talking now Halafrin? Stay back and spread out.-Dwol murmurs to the party.
-detect evil- on the large white dragon
Cautiously advancing to the edge of the ice-Oh mighty wyrm, my name is Dwoldrim Brewbelly and I have come to reclaim the armor of my ancestors. I ask that you surrender it peacefully to us and we will be on our way from your domain without further disturbance.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25+3 for dwarven dragons

DM Darkvision |

You are at the edge of the ice and 200’ from the dragon, detect evil doesn’t have the range to reach the dragon.
How far apart are you going to stand from one another. Please describe how you are arranged.
“Why should I give you anything dwarf? My people were sent to speak with you and you murder them without reason and without warning. Now you demand treasure that I have fairly won? If I do as you suggest I would soon see a line of petitioners demanding one thing or another from me until I was left with nothing. I ask that you leave my mountain immediately.”

Dwoldrean Brewbelly |

I KNEW that pointy-eared bastard was going to get us into trouble with his rash decision making!
Dwol begins backing away from the ice and towards the cave entrance.
All fair points your esteemed scalyness. However, consider the risks:
If you surrender the armor as we have "asked" we might be able to trade you something in return and further will make a sacred vow to keep the exchange a secret. No one need know that the item came from your vast and valuable horde.
If you don't there is a risk, however infinitesimal, that we might defeat you in combat and you would lose both treasure and life.
I would think that exchanging some armor, of no value to you, would certainly be better than a chance of death, which we have clearly committed to in order to gain said armor.

Halafrin Mistweaver |

Dwol up in the front begging to get blasted by dragon breath, claw, and fang.
The remaining 3 just inside the entrance spread out as possible to avoid all 3 being blasted simultaneously and flee if needs be.

Dwoldrean Brewbelly |

Just far enough away to make sure that we don't get grouped by AOE.
Whatever is reasonable for seasoned 8th level adventurers.
I promise not to whine (too much) when you screw us over.

Chack -Sab-At |

I have my scimitar at the ready, otherwise
perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
is there not some task we can perform for you, or item we can procur, in exchange for his familial armor...oh glorious draco blanco?
