Those range penalties should be -2, not +2, correct?
Kitoro |
Kit is not interested in having her will power sucked. She also dows not like that they are immune to mind-altering spells. The silver lining, however, is that they are susceptible to sonic effects. So it is she blasts green with an ear-piercing scream, the only sonic spell she knows.

After which she retreats as far into the corner as she can.
Ansha Saeralyan PFS |
Ansha glances at Rakesh. "I rather doubt it, but who knows? This is a pretty, uh, malleable plane of existence."
With that, she incants a spell and sends a quartet of magical darts hammering into the most injured-looking dream-eaters (presumably green, but if green is dead, then red).
Magic Missile, CL8: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 3) + 4 = 14
GM Watery Soup |
Rakesh fires two arrows, both of which miss. Roderick lobs two bombs, both of which hit.
Fortitude: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 vs DC 16
Kitoro's ear piercing scream seems to bother Green, significantly. Ansha's quartet of magic missiles slam into Green, but it still stands. Kyra casts a spell, and Red is harassed by a scimtar of force.
Green and Red, which were attacked, cast mirror image on themselves and move forward; meanwhile, Yellow and Blue peer into the minds of Rakesh and Kyra, respectively, and begin feeding on their dream state. DC 16 Will save!

Kitoro launches another performance which is coupled with an ear-piercing scream.
Red Fortitude: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 vs DC 16 I just noticed I rolled a +9 modifier before. I don't know where I got that from.
Red seems minorly damaged.
Roderick's first bomb takes out Green (wrong image, but half the splash takes it out). I've never encountered this situation before, but I am going to rule that Rakesh and Kyra don't get splashed. The bomb "hit" as intended, and although it missed the target due to mirror image, the splash should shape correctly to avoid allies.
The second bomb lands squarely on Red.

The mirrors are an expression of the Dimension of Dreams called “memory pools.” These pools collect and contain memory fragments from lost dreamscapes that otherwise collapse and disappear when their dreamers awaken. The form they take is subjective and changes from dreamscape to dreamscape.
The mirrors do not show the anyone’s reflections. Rather, anyone who looks in sees swirling, indistinct shapes of events both real and unreal.
The Pathfinders can perform research with the collection of mirrors as if it were a library. Performing a Research check only requires
8 minutes of work, rather than the typical 8 hours.
Relevant skills are Knowledge (local), Perception, or Sense Motive.
As per previous checks, I'll need a primary and a secondary on each skill.
Kitoro |
sense motive, heroism: 1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 21 + 2 = 31
"Well, how about that. Seems like our little 322 has Asspuss problems." Seems like she is emphasizing the syllables in Asspuss, like the misnaming of Aspis was intentional.
An image of a battle flickers by and Kit cries out, "There! Did you see that!?"
Kit seems to be able to read the vibes from the images too, using the skills she picked up in acting and oration, and does her best to read what is going on 'between the lines'.
research, sense motive, heroism: 1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 21 + 2 = 32
Ansha Saeralyan PFS |
Knowledge (planes), extended heroism: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 11 + 2 = 28
“Could be,” Ansha says. “Though how much of these images are real and how much are just flights of imagination, who knows?”
“Hm. I wonder if we can ‘direct’ what these mirrors show?” she muses, fingers on her chin as she leans closer to a mirror.
Knowledge (local), extended heroism: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 14 + 2 = 28
Rakesh Manidhar |
Rakesh slips his bow onto his back and glances around to make sure there are no more slivers of 322 around. He walks over to the remains of one and searches the pile for any salvageable items.
He then walks over to the mirror and peers in when Ansha points at a fleeting image.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
"What wasss that?"
He noticed 322 in combat with Aspis agents.
"Wait. The Asspiss are after her too?"
He wrinkles his snout in puzzlement.
"The lantern! The ghost told us she asked Aram Zey's soul in the lantern for forgiveness. Maybe she's trying to give the lantern back to the Society!"
GM Watery Soup |
Kitoro: 1d12 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7
Ansha: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Kitoro: 1d12 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 + 1 = 11
Ansha: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Okay, so, basically, even without any aids, Kitoro and Ansha will reveal all the information in the mirrors. There's no need for anyone to roll any more. In a F2F game, these would have come out bit by bit, and you would all have had a chance to respond in between. So, what I'm going to do is demarcate each set of reveals - Kitoro and Ansha can open the first set of spoilers, and there will be instructions for them inside the spoilers. The rest of you can respond, or indicate with ooc tags that you're ready to move on. I'll then post a second set of spoilers, and we can do the same thing, and then just a third post with the remaining information. I hope that's a good balance between letting you all roleplay and PbP expediency.
When Kitoro snaps out of the waking dream, she should shout, ""Anwë!"
When Ansha snaps out of the waking dream, she should sing a najagi tune that Rakesh recognizes, imitating the sound of a pungi by making a nasally sound.
Kitoro |
Kit practically enters a trance as she stared deeply into a mirror. After some time she snaps out of it and shouts "Anwë!" and then shakes her head. Prettily of course.
"I saw a forest and a grave darkness. Did any of you see anything?"
Ansha Saeralyan PFS |
Ansha tilts her head and starts humming--a rather nasal noise--as she looks into one mirror. It's a tune that Rakesh recognizes, and the nasal hum seems to mimic the sound of a pungi. When Kitoro shouts, Ansha startles and furrows her brow at the bard, the pungi tune dying mid-hum.
"Where do you know that name from?" she asks, a note of menace in her velvety elven voice.
Roderick Xim |
Roderick will peer into the mirrors as well.
Well, let me see if I experience anything different, Kitaro.
perception,cues, hero: 1d20 + 12 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 5 + 2 = 22
Kitoro |
It takes Kit a moment to focus and when she does she turns to Ansha.
"It was in the dream I experienced. And experienced is putting it mildly. I felt like I was there. When the darkness came and started overcoming the forest, there were voices shouting that word. I'm not sure it it was a plea or a curse. Why? What does it mean to you? Did you have a vision too?"
Rakesh Manidhar |
Ansha tilts her head and starts humming--a rather nasal noise--as she looks into one mirror. It's a tune that Rakesh recognizes, and the nasal hum seems to mimic the sound of a pungi.
Rakesh reels in anger. Humiliation. His brow furrows as he glares at Ansha.
"Stop that."He says sternly, gritting his teeth in rage.
The humiliation he went through as a child on the streets of Niswan in Jalmeray. Being forced to perform for that fat, ugly human "snake charmer" so that the charmer could earn money and give Rakesh barely enough to survive. No wonder his hatred for humans --and the Aspis-- are so strong. Just the name "Aspis" makes him cringe. How dare they use the name, and a symbol, of a serpent for their vile organization.
Ansha's humming, sounding almost the exact same as the charmer's punji, and her rhythmic swaying, sends the Nagaji into an uncontrollable rage.
"I SAID STOP THAT!!!"
He storms up to the mirror as he draws his flail. Gripping it in both hands, he wails away relentlessly in an attempt to smash the mirror.

When Roderick looks away from the mirror, he realizes he's been whispering, "Forgive me, Dawnflower," over and over again.
When Rakesh finishes smashing the mirror, he continues smelling Roderick's healing herbs. He'll smell them for the remainder of the scenario.
Ansha Saeralyan PFS |
Ansha startles again as Rakesh rages and smashes the mirror she had been looking into. Taking a step back, she says aside Kitoro, “Something like that.”
Quickly surmising what’s going on, she says to Kyra, “I don’t think it’s playing tricks, any more than it did with 322’s memories….”
Roderick Xim |
”Forgive me Dawnflower. “
Roderick looks around shaking his head.
”What? Rakesh ? Why are you breaking the mirrors?“
Rakesh Manidhar |
Bits of crystalline shards laying at his feet, Rakesh pulls back and lowers his flail after catching the glimpse in the now destroyed mirror.
"What? What was that? I saw something. A laboratory."
He turns to Roderick.
"I could smell the sweet earthy scent of healing herbs. I saw a wound being bandaged. A patient sits down, and the patient is branded with a slaver's mark. A few drops of acid, and the mark disappears with the pungent smell of burning flesh. Then, some clean water washes the wound clean, and the wound is bandaged."
Rakesh has a look of sorrow on his face.
"Was that you, Roderick? Were you the one branded with the slaver's mark?"
Roderick Xim |
Nay, I was not branded nor did I brand, but the branding of slavery was commonly practiced in my homeland of Cheliax.
I found it quite repulsive and spent my life trying to eradicate the practice.
