Viridian slips and slides across the icy floor, ending up behind Iladora and casting a potent cure spell on her.

Klarkosh casts a spell defensively and touches Iladora, sending electricity coursing through her. Iladora, take 17 HP electricity damage.
Mrs. Book, Corbrae, and Meresiel can act! Meresiel, I think you have two more rounds of nausea remaining. Mrs. Book, I think you can hold your breath as you move through the cloud, and can reach the other side with a double move--the cloudkill spell specifies that holding your breath won't help, but stinking cloud doesn't.

Corbrae can cast cure moderate wounds, and I think she has at least one appropriate spell slot left.

Round 6 (ongoing):
Iladora misses, Corbrae heals her further, and Merisiel tries to end her nausea.
The automaton slides southeast to stand over Blitz and swings again at Iladora. The floor is slick enough that it nearly falls over when it swings.

Mrs. Book, Iladora, and Corbrae can act! Meresiel, one more round of nausea.

Corbrae moves and strikes at the man-machine.

Mrs. Book announces her presence in no uncertain terms, blasting Klarkosh with a pair of magic missiles. Iladora swings, narrowly missing the wizard. Corbrae steps up, crying a challenge, and hits Klarkosh with what should have been a deadly blow.
It rebounds from him without doing any apparent damage.
I should've done this earlier, for anyone who could see Blitz attacking Klarkosh.
| DM Carbide |
No; the spell put him at -CON HP, enough to kill him outright. Nothing short of breath of life would have saved him.
Mrs. Book

No spoiler for me :(
| DM Carbide |
Iladora, did you want to take a 5' step in addition to your attack? The automaton can attack you without having to move in difficult terrain.
Iladora Unfallen
|
No, because that would make Corbrae the only one in range of Klarkosh. I'm harder to hit than she is.
| DM Carbide |
If you take a 5' step east, you're still adjacent to Klarkosh, but then if the automaton wants to attack you it'll have to move 5' in difficult terrain, and you'd get an AoO on it.
Iladora Unfallen
|
Sure I can do that, I just thought that would put me adjacent to the automaton as well. Moved myself on the map.
| DM Carbide |
Sorry if this wasn't clear: the automaton is wielding a guisarme, a reach weapon.

Round 7 (ongoing):
Iladora gets inside the automaton's reach. It slips back, but its focus on moving on ice leaves it open for an attack from the ranger.

Not impressive, but every little bit counts.
| DM Carbide |
Mrs. Book, your last magic missile attack had two missiles, and this one has only one. Do you have a 3rd level wand?
Mrs. Book
|
I do not have a third level wand. The last missile came from her spell reserve. Check out the resources block on her character. At this point the only spell slot she has left is from her arcane bond. I was heavily debating with myself whether to use it or not on the automaton but decided against it. I hate having absolutely no spells left.
| DM Carbide |
I think you'd get 3 missiles, though--it's one every odd level.
Mrs. Book

I was stuck thinking she was 4th level and cheated myself. So I need to give myself one more missile...

| DM Carbide |
This is a pretty amazing run of bad rolls to hit (except for Corbrae, who hasn't gotten lucky enough to do damage through Klarkosh's DR), although at least the automaton has been similarly unlucky.
Corbrae follows the wizard and cuts at him again, hitting but once again failing to leave a mark on him. Iladora likewise follows, swinging at Klarkosh and once again missing. Mrs. Book blasts the automaton with a tiny bit of force. Meresiel gets out of the icy area with Lybram's body.
The automaton steps back into the slick area and strikes at Iladora, also missing.
Viridian heals himself.

DC 19 Will save or panicked; if you make the save, you'll be shaken for the next round.
With his move action he reaches behind himself and opens the door.
Mrs. Book, Iladora, Corbrae, and Meresiel can act! Mrs. Book, from your current position you can't see the wizard. Also, remember that the area in the blue circle is difficult terrain, so a normal move wouldn't get you there and you were unable to cast expeditious retreat while you were nauseated.

| DM Carbide |
FYI:
Panicked: A panicked creature must drop anything it holds and flee at top speed from the source of its fear, as well as any other dangers it encounters, along a random path. It can’t take any other actions. In addition, the creature takes a –2 penalty on all saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. If cornered, a panicked creature cowers and does not attack, typically using the total defense action in combat. A panicked creature can use special abilities, including spells, to flee; indeed, the creature must use such means if they are the only way to escape.

The automaton picks its way across the icy floor, but can't get close enough to Mrs. Book to attack her.
Viridian runs away.
